  1. Personally, I think shaft tipping is way over-rated. It's only a question of finding the correct shaft for your needs. Even in a fairway wood you can select a shaft which is more tip-stiff. Sure certain shaft manufacturers will recommend tipping for a fairway wood but that's perhaps because they don't offer a wide enough range? Who knows but with the myriad of shafts available, I don't believe anyone cannot find a shaft they can play without tipping. Tipping is just a personal desire to tinker. If you already have a shaft you like and would like to slightly alter it's characteristics then by all means tip. If you can buy a new shaft then I'd say go ahead and choose one that fits the purpose. My $0.025! (I'll probably get a lot of sh*t for this - lol)
  2. They should also have highlighted his right elbow - 90 degrees pointing to the ground. IMO it's one of the keys to consistent driving. From the position at the top, it's a lot easier to slot the club on the downswing. My best driving days have always been when I get that feeling of being in the perfect slot at the top. The kind of days where I can't miss a fairway. Tiger is pure controlled power.
  3. His delayed release is out of this world. Love the smooth tempo and the relaxed demeanor about his swing. Very light grip and loose wrists - how easy for us to forget those basic swing rules. Although it's slightly past impact, his shoulders appear open. What's his shot pattern again?
  4. Just received mine (thanks for the quick shipping) and rolled a few on the carpet. I have no technological input regarding the face and milling marks but it feels nicer than the Gauge M2 AL+. A little more muted and a slightly softer feel. If I get the same distance control as with the Gauge, I'll be very happy :tsg_smilie_cool:
  5. They do appear to be game improvement clubs which don't look like a brick on a stick. Actually wouldn't mind trying these out - they look good.
  6. Very nice looking stick. The head and face remind me of the Fourteen JC371, especially the face and the short ferrule. If this plays as good as it looks, I won't be able to resist!
  7. When asked what their Daddy does, my daughters reply "he plays golf" :tsg_smilie_rolleyes:
  8. Could you compare it to any previous ones you've been playing?
  9. The sucker in me couldn't resist since I already play the Gauge M2AL+ and love it. So Chris only has one left :tsg_smilie_money3:
  10. See my signature? :tsg_smilie_cool: I do like mine a lot. Ordered square faced and the club just looks pure at address. Nothing fussy and I know where my line is pointing when i set up for the drive. The feel is exactly as I want it - similar to an X-Drive I think. Versatile trajectory, very good distance for a conforming face, easy to launch with a smooth swing and forgiving enough. Not sure whether this can be attributed to the driver itself but I had gone through a phase where I was struggling out of the box. I had always been the straightest shooter with well above average distance. Then went through a phase about 2 years ago where I was probably hitting only 50% of the fairways. When you play money games, there's no hope in hell of coming out ahead with those stats. Once I got the W505, the straight drives started coming back and now I tee it up full of confidence again and my days on the golf course are profitable once again :tsg_smiley_yes: I would attribute the turn around to having a driver that suits my eye at address. The head being square and not too deep is obviously what I need. With the Diamana Red, this driver is pure class! Referring to the other comment about how people never seem to love their driver but love their irons or putter, I think it's simply the fact that you hit the driver fewer times than your irons and putter. Unless you regulary practice your drives at the range, you just never get a complete grasp of how to handle your driver. Assuming an average par round, you'll putt 36 times (2 putts per green), hit your irons 18 times, but drive a maximum of 14 times (assuming you take driver off every par 4 and 5). Take a round of 80 and those additional 8 strokes would most likely be iron shots so that would give 36 putts, 26 iron shots, and still a maximum of 14 drives. Am I making any sense?? :tsg_smilie_tired:
  11. Great looking driver but i'm not sure i'd be comfortable with such a deep face. Very curious as to how the shaft plays compared to the M and W series. Looking forward to the review.
  12. Weekly Pargolf magazine introduced a new ranking for conforming driver (even Japan will abolish HiCor drivers by 2008) and the Srixon W505 achieved first place :tsg_smilie_cool: http://www.worldlingo.com/SH0gfCf2o9dNuCnI...A&wl_trglang=en
  13. Cut the toe off and make some breathing space :tsg_smilie_tired: :tsg_smilie_tired:
  14. Go to Gauge Japan and check out the vast array of putters. Then send a PM to Tourspecgolfer with any questions or requests and he'll be sure to accomodate you. Welcome to
  15. You're absolutely correct. In addition there is investment in quality control which can vary to great degrees. So indeed the Japanese OEM prices are justifiable but it's more a question of whether the price differential is justifiable to the individual user. I'm not a competitive golfer but I just enjoy having the best equipment possible. Also, I gamble on the course and on a good day I can earn myself the equivalent of an entire new bag so I want to have the best tools at my disposal. Swing issues aside, a driver that helps you hit one more fairway than usual or irons that give you one more birdie putt or a putter that helps you score that additional birdie will pay for itself in one round. Going about sourcing Japanese equipment actually wouldn't be easy for the average golfer in the US I would imagine. First of all you can't demo anything so you have to be prepared not only for the higher price levels but a potential write-off. My impression would also be that the majority of golfers who could afford Japanese equipment don't go online much and do not transact much via e-commerce.
  16. I agree the MP60s are better than the MP30s - great clubs. Still, I'll be selling them soon - just can't help switching :tsg_smiley_embarrassed: Sorry to say I once hit the Exsar shaft and vowed never to hit another Mizuno graphite shaft ever again :tsg_smiley_no:
  17. Unfortunately, we don't all know what specs fit us best but we do have a pretty good idea. You are correct in saying that the hardest part is figuring out shaft specs. However, you should already have some idea of what generally suits your swing and have a rough idea what flex, kick point etc. would be best. Aside from that, you just have to buy and try! What you don't like can always be unloaded either here, Ebay or another board. Also feel free to throw any questions out in the forums. You will notice that on TSG, there is indeed a Japanese OEM focus but many of us will try anything, provided it's the best equipment available out there! :tsg_smiley_yes: Btw, judging by your numbers, I can tell you're a perfect fit for a Diamana ION S83 stiff fairway wood shaft - just so happens I'm selling one real cheap! :tsg_smilie_wink:
  18. I'd really like to unload these shoes. I'll throw in a $25 gift card from TGW as well. A real deal if this is your size :tsg_smilie_cool:
  19. Ordered these Adidas Tour 360 but they're not the right size for me...rather than exchange and incur another 2 shipping charges, I'd rather sell them. Adidas Tour 360, brand new in box w/ tags. Black/Black/Silver. Size US 8.5 Wide. US$150 shipped and Paypal'd. Please EMAIL with any questions [email protected]

Those are Japan Only Mizuno Neoprene covers which fit perfectly! If you were a set of golf clubs sitting in the boot of my car while i'm driving, you'd be praying for headcovers... :tsg_smilie_cool:

Have to admit i'd rather have the Srixon i505s even though I haven't hit them yet. Might pull the trigger some time soon but want to see what comes out for the Japan Golf Fair next year. The Airmuscle has stayed in my bag longer than any club ever has. It's the only driving iron that truly sets up like an iron yet delivers the performance off the tee and off the deck. It does everything it's designed to do and I couldn't be happier with it. Mine's shafted with a GD Tour AD UT-95 stiff and the feel is awesome. Everything else I've come across is either too light, has too much offset, too hard, too big etc. The Airmuscle is perfect for someone looking for a driving iron that sets up like a normal 2 iron. The W505 with Red Diamana is an excellent combo. Similar in feel and ball flight to a Tour AD W70 I think. Can't say which one's better since it's been a while since i played the W70 but the graphics on the Red Diamana are simply awesome! Sure it's got nothing to do with performance but half the fun of HOing is looking at your bag! :tsg_smilie_wink:

The bag is very nice and practical. It's the Paradiso CBA520 with putter pit. There's a CBA521 which is identical but without the putter pit. Check it out here CBA520/521

I managed to get a set of MP60 heads only, no paint fill. The specs are standard. Indeed have the NS 1150s in them, D3, +1/2inch. I play my shafts a little longer only to force myself not to grip too high. This forces me to grip below the butt-end in order to have more control. So far the irons are proving to be extremely good and now that i've settled down with the W505, I'm loving it too.

Finally got around to taking some pics.
