  1. ahhh my weakness... doesn't change the advice...(also none of those were special order... like stampings.. name prints... color etc... )
  2. Over the last few months, I have been able to buy a few sets of Brand New MP 33 irons for around $400 a set. The MP 33s are great irons and for that much $... no other iron is more value..period. But that is with the standard stampings etc. I for one, dont want to pay up for special stampings etc... because the performance is the same.. the coolness factor doesen't get a lot of $ from me.... The M stamp MP 33 are cool, but no different than what you can get for much lower....so for the same amount of money, you can get the miura's mb 5002, grab them.... or spend a lot less, be patient, and get a set of new or like new MP 33 off the auction site.

try the black gold stiff..... In my opinion, there are no directly comparable irons of Miura and Epon...... However endo has forged the x blade 2 (a fine blade) and other JDM irons... and a bunch of USDM blades and player cavity backs....thats why i kept the thread to Miura vs Endo forgings (rather than Miura vs Epon)

I can second that.... in all the feedback i have given, the smaller the blade head, the better it is.
  5. I have the X100 in them right now and am itching to try a new shaft? Any experience with the fourteens and which shaft may work best with them (For eg. the Nippon 1150 works best with Miura Blades, The black golds work best with AF 301 etc...) Any input would be appreciated.

We all know the differences between manufacturing processes. This post is not about how they are produced. Its about how they perform on the course......, feel, accuracy, dispersion, design, flight etc. etc. whatever performance (on course) that makes you prefer one over the other..... So, shoot your opinions.....

The Royal collection TD is an absolute rocket off the tee with very tight dispersion...... I am very impressed.. it kicked the gfield out of the bag.... I now have got hold of the TD+...... and noticed that the head size of the TD+ is 60% of the TD.... Is the TD+ designed for a different player from those who play TD Any views?
  8. Ok. sounds like i need to experiment with a heavier driver.....which drivers have a head weight of 205 grams +. could be JDM or US. thanks..

both the mp craft and the xdrive 460 are better player's drivers... between the two pick the mp craft if you like to work the ball both left and right..... and you dont really have a right miss... the xdrive 460 is slightly draw biased (i think)... so can help with the right miss... but its easy to work both ways.. a tad less so.. The mpcraft is longer.... forgiveness... the xdrive 460 edges out the MP Craft (but not by much).... My ranking is epon 460 (forgiveness galore and gives me the workability i need with a driver)... mp craft and then the xdrive 460. if you are not looking for forgiveness, then grab the mp craft on BST (not by me)... its a good price.... Having said that I can play with any of them with in the bag and often do....
  10. GD heads work best with PT-7.....

its not the hype that hurts, its when one buys based on just hype alone that it hurts.. The zodias... I had them for two seasons... they were fine wedges, but after two seasons of play, I sold them and moved to gauge..... I did buy the Chikaras.... (two sets)... They are very good wedges.... i will play them as well as the gauge.... as long as i think they work for me and as long as they dont wear out. when they do, i will move onto something else. BTW, the extra set of Chikaras and set of gauge is to ensure that when my current sets wear out and I can't find anything new, i have a dependable set of new to fall back into. Will i care two years from now that they dont talk about gauge or chikara's .....no.
  12. are they any different than their regular blades (Meaning is it the Mp-33 and the MP-100 all over again with Miura)
  13. Depends on what you are looking for: forgiveness vs iron like ability...I look at ability to play from the rough without losing distance (much) or direction... and the ability to hit it a consistent distance with tight dispersion. Top 3 - Royal collection Td+ / or the TD G field GFT X-UT (this one requires very good ball striking skills, but rewards with piercing ball flight and more workability)
  14. but twice as expensive.... CB 1006 is a better candidate for most given the cost... Also, yururi CBs...
  15. IMO,i dont think so.... i.e.you will get the carry with the Quattro tech.. but not the roll....the qt is a low kick shaft.... your steep swing wont help....
  16. whatever else i may say about them, they are very nice looking. ...not fat and bulky at all..... given that you are coming from the miura...the 3 and 4 of AF 301 should be easy to hit...
  17. Nobody is anti-anybody....some irons work for some,,, some dont.... and there are player's cavity backs and there are others which are not so player's irons...... However, Chris point is well taken.... not everybdoy looks for (or needs to).. for what I look in the iron.... also, not everybody can play with irons that I play with.... (i have seen it many times when people at my club see the shots I am making and imply it to the iron.... i let them hit a few shots with whatever I am playing that day... and you should see what happens).... I play a course which is 6900 yards from the blues (and thats not the back tees) and is very tight (particularly in the landing areas) and almost all holes meander around... I am not the best of drivers (though the EPON has been a saviour).... and my length usually does not give me clear shots to the green atleast 6-7 times in a round... or I have to bend my shot around trees, limbs etc... Ability to work the ball is a necessity for me to get close to par on the course ( I havent broken par yet, but hit in the mid 70s/high 70s )... but before I learnt to work the ball. I used to be in the low to mid 80s... So I need a club that can shape the ball and power thru the turf.... cause I am not giving up and play to a 5... (on a par 4) How many guys in my club can hit in the 70s... probably 10-20 out of a member ship of 250 plus avid golfers..... (BTW.. only a handful play blades.. a lot play players cavity backs..) but whether somebody is a 7 handicap or higher or lower has no correlation to their iron play or needs...
  18. I will have to respectfully disagree...... maybe mid-low handicapper at best (if we are being generous)...

    3) -1) 3) and 2) joint - X blade 2 and MP 33..... The Xblade 2 feels great when hit... also a touch more workable, particularly for hitting low shots with the shorter irons compared to the MP 33. The MP 33 is so easy to hit that I can hit it in my sleep.... Between the two, its splitting hairs.... 1) Miura Blade..... Best club in town.... 1) Gives direct feedback ---- very helpful in improving oneself,... 2) Feel is great...not soft... but just feels great.... 3) easy to work the ball 4) can hit it high, low, 5) compact head allows you to be aggressive in rough...relatively easy to dig the ball out, 6) very tight dispersion in terms of length and on line of target... For the player, Miura simply excels...but it could be tough if you have a slighly lesser ball striking problems.... Based on my experience, this iron towers over the rest..
  20. ajaykkr replied to ajaykkr's post in a topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
i am not sure whether its softer....the fourteen are the softest followed by the X blade 2.... but there is so much more to an iron than softness.. and feel is subjective.... despite the two piece, the miura feels great.... among the best...... Forging is just one aspect of an iron making... where its forged is a bit overrated in my opinion.... design plays a crucial role if not more....
  21. ok...my verdict on the Af 301s..... a good midcapper's club.... but not a players club..... what doesn't make it a player's clubs.. offset,,,less workability... less feedback.... I believe sacrifices accuracy for forgiveness in the longer irons..
  22. ajaykkr replied to ajaykkr's post in a topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
I have played those......did not really appeal to me....
  23. Not appealing at all.....

so the rankings........ i will be stating them from bottom to top.... (7) Gold's factory - ok on every front, nothing special on any.... from now on the differences are close between irons ranked (6)-(3)..... (6) Mr 23 - like the look, compact head, but there are better feeling blades out there, but compared to other blades a smaller sweetspot.... (very nice blade...but others are better) (5) GD studio MB - Good high ball flight..., ok feel, workability is relatively lesser compared to (4)-(1), great looks, very interesting design..... (4) Fourteen - Softest feeling irons on the planet....cannot be described,,, has to be felt...only one.way to describe....its like butter soft.... However, loft progression from 6 iron onwards is annoying...(i dont like bending my irons)....very forgiving.... . (3) - (1) to follow later..... (
  25. If i was taylormade, i wont give that information out, for I want to build taylormade as the brand and not where the forging is made... The goal for an OEM is that if a product is under their label, it should be percieved as quality without the need to seek more information. Thats what branding and positioning is all about.... But then I am not running taylormade
