Trying to get Epon's right...may have the answer
In regards to the KB Tour shafts, I have had them in my Yamaha Tour irons for many months now. Still the best feeling performing shaft I have ever had. Not even a close second. Yes I also have the #9 Odyssey putter. Extremely nice feel and performance.

Final Review - Yamaha X V Forged Tour Irons
Yes I am still playing them. I haven't thought about switching. I don't have much more to say than they are still here and are not going any where. I am watching for Yamaha to bring out an even better version one day.

Help! Want to replace my 3 iron with something easier
Epon AF-901 all the way. I have all the three lofts and will have them for ever! I can't imagine and have never had a wood that hits the greens like these. They also spin well enough to stop the ball. Seriously, in my game they are good for 2-3 stokes per round.

Vegas Golf - PICS ADDED!
Don't let no trees fool you. Each shot needs to be placed. There are very few flat lies. Not one shot is made from the same elevation to the same elevation. Bring a game that allows you to hit to elevated greens and from elevated tees.

Vegas Golf - PICS ADDED!
In the past few days I played golf in Vegas with a few friends of mine. After an initial delay getting out there and started, we played the following courses. Aside from the courses, I have included info about a few of the clubs sold here at TSG. I wanted to meet Chris (TSG) and Jeff (idrive) out there, but it just didn't work out. I will return this fall. Shadow Creek For those that don't know, SC was developed by Steve Wynn, essentially the modern day creator of Vegas. He built it to be an ultra exclusive course to service the high rollers. It is estimated that he spent upward of 65M to build the course. Now the course is owned by the MGM chain and you must be a guest of a MGM resort to play. $500 gets you a limo ride, free drinks, etc., shoes if you need them, caddy and a locker. I used George Clooneys locker. You see no one else on the course. They estimate only about 20 players play each day. You only see the hole you are playing. Considering this course is in the desert, that is quite a feat. You cannot believe the oasis of trees, plants, animals here. It is its own eco system. The golf is really good, the fairways perfect and the greens pretty good. The rough was low and dry due to the time of year. The course plays fair and looks tighter than it is. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. I found the proshop super expensive. Regular logo shirts were $175 plus. Reflection Bay I have played here before. Its a Nicklaus course. Very good layout, super fast greens, nice conditions. You can get into trouble on this course. Bring a game with you. The staff was so-so. The design and conditions bring me back. Not as nice as Shadow Creek. The Falls Next to Reflection Bay. A Weiskop course. Front nine is tight and rather flat. Winds through small home development. The greens were very fast. When you get to #7 life changes. It gets very hilly and fun. The views are great. #13 is awesome. Literally a 150 foot drop between tee and fairway. The back nien saves this course. I would play the back twice. Careful, the back nine slows the pace of play. Great conditions here. Wolf Creek I read about this course, located 90 miles from Vegas in Mesquite, NV. See the website golfwolfcreek.com. It is exactly as they say. I loved it. Nothing I have ever seen or played. Super elevations changes, crazy yet incredible design. Conditions of fairways and rough was incredible. Sand was kinda hard. Greens were designed well, but they were slow and recovering from aeration about 10 days earlier. Let me tell you that every angle on the course is a post card. Not a single tree found, but more than enough design to require precise shots. All I can say is that this course is unlike any other and worth the trip or a stay to play a few times. I can remember most of the holes here, but don't remember the same for the other course. I will return. Pace of play was slow though. Play here and you will understand why. CLUBS I have written vast reviews of my clubs and only have better and better things to say. But I feel I need to add more about the Epon EMB driver and the AF-901s. As an experiment, I installed teh new Fubuki shaft in the EMB and removed the stock GD Tour AD for EMB stiff flex. That lasted one day and I switched back. The Fubuki didn't perform in the EMB. The GD shaft just plain rocks. Not one person, and I played with at least 8 different people, ever out drove me. I was dead down the middle and at least 15 yards further, sometimes 60. Everyone was amazed that this 5'-3" guys could hit so well. I cannot believe that any combo will do better for me than this. I can't see trying the 101 driver. What else can I say? The AF-901s also have me laughing. I have the 19, 22 and 25 degrees with the Mach Line SR flex graphite shafts. So damn easy to hit and honestly have changes my 180 - 230 yard game. They saved me at least 4 strokes a round. My only complaint is that the Mach Line shaft finish isn't very durable. They seem to mark easily. But that will due of they perform this well. My Yamaha irons also performed, but I have discussed that before. My Chikara wedges were ok, but the jury is still out. The spin is great, but I am still working on the sole design. Go play Wolf Creek! WOLF CREEK PICS

FS - Crazy Shaft 80 LS Stiff Shaft
Some time ago I posted if anyone had any info on this super expensive shaft from Japan. Their website is www.crazy-shaft.com. USD. On their site, they advertise that this is one super duper shaft that uses 80t rather than 50t the highest end other shahave heard that there is some PGA exposure and the results have been positive. The specs on this shaft are: 68g, stiff flex (7.4), 2.4 torque and mid kick. IT IS BRAND NEW, NEVER INSTALLED AND STILL IN PLASTIC. I was able to buy this from a PGA source in the USA a number of months ago. I was going to install it and test it out, but it feels pretty stout to me and I anticipate it is too much shaft for me. $350 Shipping and paypal will be included in CONUS. If you have the swing for it, it may be a phenomenal investment. Trades may be considered for Epon 208KGX wedges.

Do they spine align driver shafts prior to install?

GD MD Series vs GD TOUR AD9003
If anyone is interested I have a brand new never installed Crazy Shaft model 80LS I will sell. It is a stiff flex. Probably one of the only in the US. In JP they sell for more than 600USD. Pm if you are interested. Just too much shaft for me but maybe perfect for you.
-
GD MD Series vs GD TOUR AD9003
Accept my apologies if I am incorrect, but I would bet the MD series is a little more user friendly and the 9003 works well for the hard swinger. I think the MD indeed has higher torque ratings which may make it soft and smooth feeling. In my case, I think I wouldn't preload the 9003 enough and therefore it would feel and play too firm. Did you find the Yamaha XV Tours like you wanted?

EMB or AF101
I dunno. I haven't had the new 101, but do have the EMB. It is plenty long and super, super forgiving. For me, for now, I can't see how to get away from it. I think you must consider the shaft carefully as I am not sure the stock shaft will put up with your swing. Maybe try the EMB with a shaft in the 3.0- 4.5 torque range. GD MD? Although I have a Ozik XCON5 to install, I haven't. Thinking of trying the Fubuki by Mits. also.

WITB - Final, well 98%
I thought I would post a message pulling together my thoughts and experiences with what is in my bag. I will take some pics at some point, but I think everyone has seen pics of these clubs here before. Driver - Epon EMB with Graphite Design Tour AD for EMB stiff, 10.5*, square face, 45", D1.5 SW This is one club that is hard to make sense of. With the high torque shaft, long shaft and whippy feel, I would think that it would be an unpredictable wet noodle. Well, it is at least 15-20 yards longer than my Epon 460 with Roddio W5BA SR flex, way way straighter. I look for reasons to hit this guy. I am seeing parts of the course that I haven't seen before. I am careful no to over swing this club. The shaft seems to prefer a nice sequenced smooth swing. Not to say that I can't attack the ball, I can, but to tell you the truth, it doesn't result in much more of anything. It has become a club that instills a giddy confidence. 3 Wood - PRGR Hit M3 Tour 3W, SR stock flex and length This club has a flatter lie than normal at 56.5*. It is built this way for better players that want to fade the ball and control the left side. For me, it sets up great as I need a flatter lie because I am short at 5'-3". Perfect lie for me. The head is smallish in size and shallow. I think it has a composite material in it. The shaft is a PRGR shaft. Performance is great also. Very easy to hit despite ts size. No problem getting the ball up and I control this shaft pretty well. The shallow face isn't a problem off the tee. It sounds and feels somewhat clicky, but solid. No Epon forged wood solid. It is hard to describe, but I like the feel. The shaft is easy to hit. I keep finding myself tempted to change the shaft to something heavier, but after I hit it I must ask myself why. For me it performs so well. No I like my firway wood shafts a little soft. I don't always want to load up and give FW a dealth swing. Best setup on a 3W I have played. Hyrids - Epon AF-901 in 22* and 25* with stock Mach Line SR flex graphite shafts, length I can't recall Now I have always struggled with hybrids. I tend to hit them right with a block. I was apprehensive to try these, but I couldn't resist after Chris wrote his quick review. I ordered these to fall somewhere in the 180-210 yard area. I haven't whittled down their exact distance but can tell you the following - These are SUPER easy to hit. Wow I haven't missed a shot yet. They are great from all lies, the tee box, everywhere. I don't hit the right. They are dead straight, high and predictable. I see these will stay forever. I have always played to avoid these distances, but no more. Get these and don't be concerned with Mach Line shafts. Smooth, well balanced and predictable. I think I will get the 19* also. As an added not, they look great from the top. I did lose a headcover today. They are so short they don't stay on easily. Irons - Yamaha Inpres X V Tour forged limited irons with KB Tour shafts, 5.5 flex, D2 SW on 4-8, D3 on 9-PW, 1/4 short Now you have probably read my review of these irons on the dedicated thread. I know that there must be some skeptics, but I LOVE these clubs. I hope Yamaha comes out with sets of this nature every year so I can find a set if something should happen to these. The heads paired with the KB Tour shafts are pure. Great feel, incredible accuracy, flight and distance. Don't be afraid of the shaft weights of the KB Tour. They are balanced so that you don't feel the weight. The progressive kickpoints work really. I am surprised have they perform. Wedges - Chikara Retail Wedges, 52*, 56* and 60* with KB Tour 5.5, 52 and 56 at D4 SW and 60 at D5. Now I know that there are some strong feelings here about Chikara's wedges. I find these nice wedges that perform well, fell pretty good. Spin is awesome and I am working on controlling the spin. Time will tell, but I think I like these but am considering trying the new Epons. No need just need some Ho'ing like the New York Governor. Putter - Taylor Made Tourismo Although goofy looking, I have putted so well with this since 2007. I am waiting for the uglier Spider to be released. If it works better than this, then I am set. I cut down my putters to 31" so the ability to add head weight by the MWT weights is great for me. Bag - OnOff Stand Bag, Black Bought this from Yourpressed last year. Cool looks, nice material, great zippers. Organizer is a little cramped, but I will keep her. Ball - Taylor Made TP Black LDP I had great luck with the 2007 Black and find the 2008 to be better. Better feel, great carry, nice wedge and putter feel. Seems to perform the best all around for me. Nothing more to offer here, but this balls works well for me.

Graphite Iron Shafts
Drive I am a fan of graphite. I was the first here to have the Roddio I10s stiff installed. They are 105g shafts. Feel was great, distance very long. At first I was super happy, but I noticed a few things in my set. Primarily distance control became an issue. Up to a 15 yard difference. That was too much for me. I think they also played soft but that was probably because I play a shorter iron length and added head weight to get swing weight. Can't comment on the other brands but I am intrigued by the GD 115g as a starting point. With my new KB Tours the distance and accuracy are crazy and they feel really good. I think this is a shaft you can play one half to a full flex soft and get feel and maintain dispersion accuracy.

Final Review - Yamaha X V Forged Tour Irons
Raw weight of 5.5s are 120. The 4.5s 110 and the 6.5s 130. The balance point makes these feel lighter than they spec. I was concerned they would be heavy, but they feel considerably lighter than the Black Golds. I also felt the BGs were too heavy for me and was concerned with the KB weight. When I installed the test shaft, I was sold. You will see them later this month! Bring the graphites and we can compare.

Final Review - Yamaha X V Forged Tour Irons
I know that this iron is sold out and most probably not available on the 1st hand market. Despite this I feel compelled to write this review. Many ill be skeptical and some may be sad they didn't find a set of these sooner. History The stock set comes with DG S200 shafts. I hated the fell of these shafts. To me they felt dead, literally lifeless. After much research and a little experimentation, I settled on the new KB Tour shafts by FST. These were designed by Kim Braly who I understand designed the Rifle shafts. I have never played the Rifle shafts so I can offer no comparison. I do understand that Kim wanted to design a shaft with the performance of the Rifle shafts with a better feel. My swing speed is about 90mph with a 6 iron. I have an average tempo but do attack the ball. I play to a 6.9 index and feel teh strength of my game is driving. My iron play yields about 9 GIR per round. Previously I have played numerous irons and shafts yet the last two sets have been Epon AF-301 with Black Golf stiff soft stepped 1x and Mizuno JPX with Roddio I-10 graphite shafts. I also had the Epon Type S with Nippon 950s stiff. Yamaha Looks As written in my previous reviews, the irons has very very little offset. That was appealing to me. They has a moderate top line and their size is on the smaller size. The profile is boxy with more of a square toe area. The sole has what appears as 3 grinds. The leading edge is sharp with a small grind. Overall, the size is similar to the AF-301, but I think the Yamaha is slightly taller in the toe. Setup is perfect and it appears more blade like than cavity back. Perfect to me. Feel The feel is very positive and firm, yet soft. The AF-301 feels softer, but the Yamaha feels more solid. Not that the Epon is mushy, but the Yamaha has a small click and feels super solid and soft together. Performance Although Yamaha describes these as having a center of gravity higher than their no-tour model, I think the result is superb. The ball flight is spectacular. This may be due to the shafts as described below, but the end result is excellence. Perfect high flight, no ballooning. Carry is superb. Forgiveness is really good also. My typical miss is towards the toe. Distance loss is minimal. I also can work the ball easily and at will. Conclusion on head I am happy to say and sad to say that I will not be buying any other irons for...well who know. If Yamaha comes out with a new version of these, I will jump on them quickly. I would hate to have something happen to these. I would be very sad. The combo of setup, feel and performance leave nothing for me to desire. I am past the honeymoon period and can't find a reason to let me mind wander. KB Tour Shafts There isn't much info about these shafts. Data is minimal. I researched these as much as I could. I spoke to FST and gathered what I could. I then bought a few shafts of different flexes and experimented with them. Ultimately, I choose the 5.5 flex installed in the proper dedicated iron. I play 1/2" short so weight was added to head to get a D1 swing weight in the 4-8. I then had the 9 and PW setup at D2 and so on. Therefore these probably play slight softer than 5.5. The 5.5 shafts weight 120g. I also had installed the Nowon grips. I must say that these are the best shafts I have ever played, period. The feel is great. Reflecting on the Black Golds, the BGs seemed sloppy. I know they are tip soft as I expect the KBs are also. But the KB just feel more controlled and positive. Now onto what counts - Accuracy. All I can say is that these are deadly accurate. Never before have I been able to drop darts like this. They are so consistent and predictable. Flight is perfect. High yet penetrating flight with low-moderate spin, no ballooning. Easy to turn over and work. Pure sex here guys. This combo is perfect for me. In comparison to others sets I have owned this is a 10/10. I considered the AF-301s with BG shafts a 8/10. For me, the Epons are excellent and this review should not degrade the 301s. But for me, the minimal offset, the superb setup, ball flight and solid feel combined with the excellent performance of the KB Tour demands my attention. I can imagine that the AF-301s with the KB Tours would be incredible also. The following pics are of the 6I. One of the last pics shows the offset of the PW and a 4I.

SUPER STROKE Grip Review
I play it sometimes. It does help your hands relax and takes them out of the putt. The tinny/hollow sound is still there. I think other manufacturers use more rubber types rather than the plastic of this grip. I still think it works well and I move between two putters.

Yamaha Tour Limited Forged Irons w/PICS!
Went out today with my Yamaha Tour 8I reshafted with the new KB Tour stiif, softstepped once. I play 1/2" under standard (US) in length. I have a 96mph driver SS and usually play Black Golf S shaft. It was a surprise. Feel - Butt stiff, moderate soft tip. More Black Gold-like then I expected, but slightly firmer or more solid. Bend profile was nice. Seemed well balance. My guess is the counterbalancing properties led to this. Performance - Here it shined. Ball flight was higher than I expected. I would classify it as high, but it didn't balloon. Distance was superb. For me ball flight was straight to a draw. Seems easier to turnover than the BG. I would say 1/2-3/4 club longer for me. Hard swings didn't over come the shaft. Feel was very smooth but not mushy, performance top notch. Overall, I am surprised as many are with these. The shaft really played well in the Yamaha heads. The Yamahas have a higher center of gravity and the KB Shafts just seemed to give back some launch. Remember the Yamaha's have S200s stock. I hate the stock shafts. I softstepped the S to take the edge off and see how they played next to the BG. I am ordering the rest to install soon.
