Trip to TSG
Guys, Although TSG is internet based, I was fortunate to meet Chris Saturday. He is a great guy and really knows his stuff. He should be applauded for his efforts to spread JDM equipment into our market. Do you and your friends a favor and spread the word. He has many, many sets of irons, drivers and woods available. I know that he has advertised some of these in the buy/sell forum recently. The prices of these sets are fantastic. I highly recommend grabbing these up. A great chance to buy great equipment. I was able to view essentially most of the lines available. It was great seeing so many all together. It was tough to make decisions though. All of it is to quality and beautiful. Many of wedges previewed here, I was able to hold and feel. Great stuff to come. Hats off to Chris for his service. My choice: Mizuno JPX E500 with Roddio I-10 shafts, S flex adjusted. Can't wait to get them. Thanks, bogeydog

EPON 13.5 with RODDIO - Inital Thoughts
Today I received my new Epon 13.5 with Roddio W7BA S flex built by Chris. Here are my initial thoughts from the driving range. ME - Currently play Epon 10.5 driver, square, with Roddio W6BA SR flex. Looks - No doubt that Roddio makes the coolest looking shafts around. Bar none, nothing else close. Epon is pure class. Head is super clean, superbly shaped and for me has a nice depth for hitting of the tee and deck. Just plain perfect. Feel - Chris set this up after speaking with me about my driver Roddio setup. The W7BA doesn't come in a SR flex so he trimmed the tip, etc. to it to make it play like SR. Feel of the Epon head is super solid. I wouldn't call it soft, but smooth solid. Hope you know what I mean. Shaft may be slightly stiff for me, but without hitting it on the course with good balls, I am not sure yet. Performance - Good swings are rewarded by a low-mid boring shot. Very penetrating ball flight with quite a bit of roll. I was very surprised with the roll when hit from the deck. I didn't hit from a tee, but I bet this is a monster. Carry distance for me was about 210 with 20-25 yards in roll. I am sure that a tee would bring out some great things. Keep in mind that my carry was probably hurt by the driving range mat and the crappy range balls. I would bet 15 yards more on the course with good balls. Overall - I can't wait to play on the course. As I love my Roddio/Epon driver, I am expecting great things with this club.

Yururi Gekko DEMO Iron - Initial Thoughts
I am demo'ing a 7 iron from Chris with a TT DG S300 shaft. I have only hit it at the range, but here are my initial thoughts. ME - Typically play a SR flex type, 1-2 degree flat, current iron TM R7 Taper Tour iron with hardstepped x1 Black Gold regular shafts, 46 degree pitching wedge. I had a set of Epon Type S prior. Swing is 97-100 with driver, average transition. Looks - The head is really cool looking. The pictures don't show the intricate details of the cavity stepped pattern. Head is smaller than what I normally play. Shorter in blade length and about the same as the Type S I would guess. Not disturbingly short, but comfortable. Setup looks great. Slight offset, medium top line thickness. I felt confident over it. After hitting it a number of times, I went back to my set and they looked clunky. Very clean setup. Feel - I would rate softness as medium. Pure hits felt, well pure as expected. My misses are on the toe. Still soft, but I could tell that I missed it. I consider that a good thing. Feedback was nice. I don't think these are Epon soft, but for those wanting a solid soft feel, these satisfy that. Performance - I don't know the loft of this 7I. They were very forgiving with only really bad shots failing. Distance didn't fall off rapidly. I could draw at will. The shaft is heavy for me and slightly too stiff. Distance was the same as my TM. I did seem to hit this higher than the TM which have me confused as the Black Golds I think should hit higher. I wasn't cutting the ball, so I dunno. I am very interested is seeing what this could do with a slightly softer and lighter shaft. Overall - Obviously need some more time. I would like to play a round with these. Solid performance, good feel, above average forgiveness. So far a solid B+. Maybe get to an A with the right setup.

Pit - Can you elaborate on the OnOffs and why they satisfy you compared to the countless other JDM iron you have had?

4 wood...
I had th G-field 4 wood and it wasn't long enough for me. I opted for a 13.5 3 wood. I can use it from the tee and deck. The 4 wood was too shallow and not great off the tee. It also left a distance gap I needed to fill. Considering your hybrid I would go for the 3 wood.

Back with Epon + Roddio and friends!
I think I was probably the first to put the Roddio W6BA into an EPON 460. I posted a review back a month or so ago that speaks to the addtional roll over what I had with the Axiv-6066. Each time I play with this club, I get more accurate and the distance keeps growing. I know that it is confidence that is helping the swing. I have hit some of the longest drives which I "called" prior to hitting them. I can't say anything much different than the others. I have on order an EPON 13.5 with a Roddio W7BA and am also waiting for a set of Roddio iron shafts to arrive that I ordered. If they are like the driver, then I am set for quite sometime. Gochin - Are you making the move to the irons?

Axiv V...VS....Roddio
I have posted a review before. Yeah I agree the Roddio is sweet. I can work it very easily, but the common thread is great trajectory and distance with roll. I play a EPON 460 10.5 with the W6BA sr flex. At first I was suspect, but what I discovered was the shaft was playing the shot I was swinging. Once I learned that hitting it left was a function of the swing and not the shaft, I was able to play the shots. I understand now that it is a players club and in my case plays what I swing. All I know is that I can't fathom much better. Now Chris is building an EPON 13.5 degree for me with a Roddio shaft. Hopefully I will see it in a few weeks.

G-Field GT-UW Hybrid #4 22 Degree
Ok, first come first served. Please do not ask for any deals or trades. This was bought new from Tourspec last December. It has a Grafalloy Comp NT Prototype stiff flex shaft. This is a hybrid shaft. The club is in 9/10 condition. It has been hit less than 20 times. Stellar condition. Small nic on paint at edge of crown and face, but can't really be seen, especially at address. Includes headcover. $175.
