Thanks for the responses. I know about that humitdy Milo is talking about in Asia. Played in Japan last summer with relatives and I've never encountered humidity like that. I sweated though a brand new glove each time out. Its just incredible. Alpha_pro, stock cord Technicty grips, I hope they come on the driver!

I currently have the 8072 in the ERC III. Very, very solid shaft. Aggressive swings don't bother it all. Nice strong kick at the bottom. According to those who've played both the Axiv is for the swinger and the V for the hitter. I going with the 8076 in a new Epon simply because I feel I can use a bit more stiffness. If you tendency is like mine in that your bad shots go left, this is one shaft to try. You may want to wait a bit and read through the site as Drev shafts seem to gaining some popularity as well as the PT line by GD. Get as much perspective on this as you can.
  4. Maddening, isn't it!! :tsg_smiley_yes:

Can't recommend these shafts enough! I too used to play DG x100 for quite a long time. I went with Nippon's M266V for TourStage in the new irons in January and then recently switched to the 1150GH Tours in x-stiff. The 1150's by far give a stronger ball flight, but much enhanced feel. Disperson with these shafts IMO is better than x100's. In terms of distance, I feel I'm about 2-3 yards longer with the 1150's. I believe they are as stiff as the x100's but because they are so silky smooth they may have a feeling of not being as stiff. If they are less stiff than the x100's its not by much and it may be because the kick point is higher in the 1150 than x100. Very playable shaft. Lot's of fun. I say give them a try.

This is a topic of interest for me of late. I had been a loyal Lamkin Sof-cord guy for years and years. Still love cord but have experimenting of late. I have the original TourStage cord on my X-blades but they will need to be replaced in a few months and they are quite expensive to get. I like them very much because not only do the have cord, but also small indentations; tiny, little "TS"'s all up and down the grip. This also helps to enhance the feel. I don't Winn grips simply because I haven't found one which enhances my grip. There are others out there which I haven't been impressed with. I'm just too picky. I've been playing around with Golf Pride's Dual Durameter cord and New Decade cord. Both seem to have the firm feel I'm looking for. I give the edge to the New Decade. Over time it seems the Dual Durameter "softens" a little. For myself, cord is must and not because my hands sweat. It all comes down to "feel" for me and I just like the cord. Would love others to chime in on this topic and give your input.

Although there will be some changes soon, here is what's in the bag for now. I've been meaning to get these up for you and I've finally done it. I'm still learning but this my attempt at the Chris Pierson school of photography! The 3-iron and 22* TRC take turns depending on the venue. TourStage X-blade 2 w/ Nippon Shaft 1150GH Tours x-stiff The "G-Field Family" . . . may soon grow bigger! Playing around with various grips, just so long as they're cord. Miyamoto Musashi . . . the greatest swordsman in all of Japan. Louie's been on the bag for years, Ultra-Man is his new friend. "24" is my son's playing number. Ultra-Man's eyes are radioactive. Hope you all enjoyed the pics. Thanks to Chris for helping to hook me up with some these beauties! Thanks to TSGer's for your posts. This site is too cool. Long live the club ho's! 8. I back up plus1's sentiments 100%. I have the premium zone one in black. After having used it now for a couple of months, I like the way the color insert really frames the ball up nicely in the setup. The feel of the grip is exquisite and just fits the hands so well, no harsh edges. The roll of the putter blade is the best feature. I can't say enough how well it performs and that is the greatest thing about it. Hands down the best putter, period!! It rocks.

I can't give much input here Chris as I've never hit an SST pured shaft. I do know that I have a local clubfitter insert all of my higher end shafts over the years and they have all performed very well. The last one he did for me was the Axiv-V in the ERC III and that one is awesome. I think you may be right that with the high end shafts which we all here love at TSG, SST pure may not matter much. Looking foward to hearing others input.

Thanks Alpha_pro and Plus1 for the comments. I'm glad to hear the GFT is on the heavier side as that suits my game and feel. I myself like the 80 gram shafts and its good to hear good things about the PT-7. I think I'm going to have to give this combo a look! :tsg_smilie_money3: Looking foward to the showdown of DREV vs. Axiv. I have my own Epon coming with the Axiv-V so I'll be having a showdown between the Epon and ERC III. I think we all know though, how that might end up. In regards to the GFT wedges, not sure if the grooves are tri-cut but they sure have tremendous feel. I'm really loving these and they're so versatile. Short game is a lot of fun right now. I know Chris could chime in here about the wedges in terms of their evolution! :tsg_smilie_cool:

Just a quick note on the Kamen Rider. Awesome looking cover but better suited for a fairway wood or smaller headed driver. 460cc really "cramps" him up! :tsg_smiley_embarrassed:
  13. Epon 460 with an Axiv-V 8076 on order from Chris today. I just couldn't resist the tingling "ho" senses any longer! :tsg_smiley_laughatyou: :tsg_smilie_money3:

Hey Alpha_pro How do you like the G-Field GFT 3 wood? I sent Chris a PM about 3 woods and this is one he mentioned with high praise, especially with a PT-8 shaft. You have the PT-7, how is it for you?
  15. Although I carry two (depending where I'm playing), I have been somewhat luke warm to hybrids. I messed around with a Titleist 503H but really didn't like the look of it. Same with other utility clubs which look like boxes stuck on the end of a shaft. I usually start with the look of a club. I can't bring myself to hit something if it doesn't look right to me eye. I like the TRC's I have simply because its a compact head, like a small wood, but the rails in the bottom of the club really help it perform from any lie. I've used these clubs from fairway, rough and sand. Of all that you listed the one that really stands out for me is the G-Field. It looks the most versatile and the closest thing to what would suit my eye. Plus, knowing how well my G-Field wedges perform and feel, the GFT would probably blow away my utilities. I'd love to hear other people's take on these clubs.
  16. The 002 has a much better color to it. Both are very clean looking putters. Still in love with my own G-Field putter. What if any advantage does the longer neck have?
  17. I know my TourStage X-blade 2's are like "butta" Best damn feel for any club I've ever hit especially coupled with the right shaft.
  18. You guys are just killing me with all this EPON talk!! I just got the ERC III a few months back and although its working out well with the Axiv-V, all this sensational talk about the EPON has my "HO" instincts tingling. I know I will not change my irons, I love those, I must somehow resist the urge to pull the trigger on the EPON. Although I don't know how many more positive reviews I can take until the "HO" senses are overwhelmed and Chris gets an order for an EPON 460. :tsg_smilie_money3:
  19. Adding sand or sugar to the shaft is only increasing the weight of the putter. According to the rules of golf it says nothing about the weight of any particular club. The rules do state things about lie angles and certain ways the club looks. Therefore adding weight to the club should be very much within the rules. However for a formal answer, you should contact the USGA.
  20. Glad to hear its going well for you. Keep trying from time to time with the utility clubs and woods. There really is nothing quite like a 3-wood stinger shot. Its great when the wind really starts to blow hard.
  21. Doesn't matter that they're no longer in play. They are pieces of art. Sweet putters, thanks for sharing.
  22. Hey, thats a lot of us. Its been said so many times before, but scoring in golf all comes down to the short game. Tell your dad to hand you down some wedges and go have fun trying out all kinds of little shots. I think that's part of the fun of golf is experimenting with different, little shots. Just remember to never decelerate. Your backswing dictates the distance. You should always follow through to ensure good contact. If you haven't read him before, Dave Pelz has some good insight on this part of the game. Welcome to golf! Its always something! :tsg_smilie_wink:
  23. 40-100 yards is all about control with wedges and lots of practice. I don't see your bag posted so its hard to say what kinds of irons you carry or if you carry any types of wedges. From your post it looks like you don't carry a lob wedge which might help you from 85 yards or so. Tell us a few more specifics about your clubs especially your pitching wedge. If you have the time to practice start with 1/2 and 3/4 swings with clubs such as your PW and even 9 iron and see if you can find control that way. Its not about backing off on your swing, you still follow through, just don't take it back as far. That and swing with a good tempo. I'm not sure what else I can offer except good luck and I hope you find success.
