Not sure about the HT but Epon fairways are (to me at least) notoriously difficult to hit. On the other hand, older Yamaha FWs are very easy to hit.
  2. Mark, you can consider Crazy, Quadra or Roddio I-8 in SR. I have the I-8 SR in a 51 and 56 Sky Dream Jump to complement a set of OnOff Red with I-6 R 5-pw but hard step once. The I-6R and I-8SR is a very good combo FOR ME.
  3. Mark, I respectfully disagree that wedges should match the rest of the set in lightness. As a matter of fact, I find it should be heavier and even stiffer since they are scoring clubs. I play irons in 50 to 60g stock jdm R flex but my 50 and 54 Titleist forged are 75 stiff graphite and 58 sand is nsporo 850. I couldn't be happier with this combo.

I do look to see whether certain clubs are made in Japan or not but it does not prevent me from buying JDM that are made in other part of the world. Case in point is that I have Epon and Ryoma drivers (all made in Japan?) but I also love playing my Gloire, especially now re-shafted with a Fire Express. For sure the Gloire, regardless of its higher price, is made in China and I have no problem with it. I also demo'ed the 2012 OnOff Red irons in the Golf Show and it felt great yet it is also made in China.

    A left hooker = a slicer?
  6. Wouldn't a taper tip shaft fits into a parallel hosel head? I am actually considering pulling a I-6 on my OnOff Red and putting it on my Legacy forged. No idea whether the Legacy is taper or parallel.

Australia has a golf ball industry?
  8. Besides the Crazy, you should also consider the Roddio I-6 and the Quadra. All three are head and shoulder above Graphite Design.
  9. You don't have just the symptoms Ed, you have a full blown condition.

How can you tell? It looks the same as the one I got for a friend of mine but it was conforming.
  11. Right, I am not sure whether this should be under USDM or JDM but have this rare 5 wood sitting at home unused. The head is in very good condition with no sky mark. Great FW for those like small fairway wood heads and know about Muira Precious Edition woods. Club is 42.5" long with a Royal Grip rubber grip. I am asking $225 all in shipped via EMS. Please excuse the poor quality iPhone pictures.
  12. I just cannot imagine that the AF tour would be as or more forgiving as OnOff forged or VG3. I personally feel that even 301/2 requires better ball striking than the OnOff or VG3. The AF Tour would definitely makes the game more challenging (less rewarding) for a high or even a mid handicapper.
  13. Haha, I was selling a set of 10 (4-PW+AW+SW) Ray V forged heads 6 months ago here for a friend and had a tough time unloading them.
  14. The only criticism I have on the current version is the small stock grip. It has to be the smallest grip on any Jdm stock irons. Other then that vg3 performs outstandingly on course.
  15. @norboo, if you are going from JPX to OnOff forged, perhaps you should consider the Red which is less of a transition. Not saying that OnOff forged is super hard, it is not super game improvement as JPX 800 HD.
  16. Talking about waking the dead, Ed, do you remember the old JDM TM XR driver? It was one of the best hi cor driver out there at the time.

I think TSG should give those members a free box of Epon balls if they pass the 1,000 posts mark or purchases over $5K for the past 5 years.
  18. New price for a great shaft that is very much suitable for a senior and lady golfers.

"Marginally" more expensive than ProV1 and slightly cheaper or on par with other JDM Premiums.
  20. I do not believe there is a review on this particular model vs. the Kamui Ray driver. Ray now can be ordered with the same pearl white finish. The Kamui could be ordered with true loft or face angle so I doubt that the 0.5 or 1* closed face would increase loft.
  21. @MastaJ, I think Swiss is probably correct in saying that you play with the wrong crowd. I say that without any disrespect as your clients (in private banking) tend to be older and wouldn't necessary buy custom or fitted clubs like Epon which was never 'off the rack.' I am definitely in the older crowd but got into Epon thru Tario back in 2007 when I bought his 701 and ZR460 back in Toronto. Unless you are a bit of club ho, you wouldn't necessary go with Epon or Romaro (limited sources). In many instances, your club purchase/selection is influenced by the friends you play with.

Played the KLGCC early this year and it is a great course and difficult with the 4 inch rough the week after the Malaysian Open.

Somehow your pictures are not loading properly.
  24. Agree with Supo and Mark than XXIO is simply point and shot plus distance due to strong loft. While OnOff Red is also easy but just not XXIO easy. It is great for beginners due to large head and offset. Unfortunately new XXIO is not cheap so you might want to look for a used set.
  25. Never had any success with cut down driver shafts for fw. Somehow the best FW shafts (for me) are those made specially for FW.
