1. Stiff is 7.2-7.4 on the Crazy scale. 6.9 is stiff/Regular. 519 launches lower than the 46. 46 is best at 45.5" or longer but it seems to handle 45" okay too.
2. I swear I took pics of the head at address with a ball but I need to find where I put them. These shots I took at S-Yard headquarters. Kobayashi-san explained why he went with the matte black finish. Too many heads these days are metallic or pearl like and distract from properly aligning with the ball, and many times due to the way the head reflects light (ie big gradient color spot right in the middle of the head or side or back depending on where the sun is) you can't make out the true shape of the head when setting up. The matte black shows the outlines of the shape of the head far clearer and no glare to distract from focusing on the ball to the head. For this reason the stock shaft which is a prototype from Graphite Design, which Kobayashi-san personally picked because it is a cross between the low spin and feel of a DI PLUS the control of the BB, is also matte black which is very cool. As a matter of a fact the overall size and face shape is similar to the famed and legendary Technity 380 from Epon but with modern design aspects such as newer weighting, different CG placement (very short and shallow - Kobayashi-san says this head is very low spin) and newer aerodynamics plus of course a completely new forged cup face vs the old insert face which is why forgiveness is way up. Not many small heads with a full plasma welded forged hybrid cup face. Once we get official pricing in the next few days we will be adding it to the shop and I have several blogs to do on S-Yard.
3. I'll be doing a blog post on the MCI very soon, but we have been taking them as special orders ie from Tae and Frank also got a set. The demand has been very high and stock very low that there was initially a 4 week wait but it seems they have caught up now so we can officially add them to the shop.
4. Oichi forged heads, ground by one of Japan's top masters... he is on a level of his own. He created Fourteen's wedge line MT28 hence his name Masahiro Tomaru. He is the creator of the original DB Forged Wedge from Royal Collection http://www.golftoimpress.com/introducing-grind-studio-and-masahiro-tomaru/ Here is my review: http://www.golftoimpress.com/dance-with-dragon-wedge-review-60-sand-wedge/ Awesome feel, awesome spin.
5. The 46 is more a distance shaft and is based on the TJ46 but with some added control and anti left characteristics. The 519 is a redesign of the Crazy Black 50 which is Crazy's best control shaft for stronger and harder hitters. One complaint though about the 50 was that it lacked the feel other Crazy shafts had so they created the 519 Proto and tweaked the design to have more feel and kick but similar control to the original 50. Other differences include that the 46 series is best at longer lengths and with larger driver heads while the 519 and 50 do well at almost any length and with any head.
6. They are officially available through us now. http://www.golftoimpress.com/nippon-shaft-limited-blue-edition-modus3-and-regio-formula-package/ A pretty good deal considering the Regio Formula looks to be a good high modulus shaft, and made in Japan at Nippon Shaft. There are limited numbers but we can get at least a handful of sets.
7. I have never left the keyboard... just busy with other tasks... keyboards are surgically attached to my hands.... (^_^)
8. the GTPro Forged blade you are all referring to is one of the original irons launched by George back when he started GS a few years ago. It is not one of the newer models. Very nice and clean looking. Similar to the other Kyoei blades made for other manufacturers but if I remember correctly with less offset and a squarer boxier toe.
9. I prefer the 551 over the 502, the 502 are too muted for me due to the alpha gel. The 551 has a thinner top line and less offset than the 502, I actually found the 551 just as forgiving if not more thanks to the under cut in the longer irons.
10. I've hit both, I love the ONOFF as its nice and deep and yes is not loud but almost pop soft... the Yamaha a bit more crisp but also quite solid. The ONOFF sets up well with its two tone top line, and is one of the deepest faces out there for a UT, the Yamaha is not as deep and is longer heel to toe but has the nice fric off sole.
11. Just let me know when you are here Mark. We should have the T388 finally in the shop after this week. And I will start blogging about it. We will finally be getting our official pricing for S-Yard.
12. I have no idea about Quadra but that is the way it works with Crazy driver shafts and for Crazy where the spine is placed is related to the how they mark the shaft as its designed to go logo up due to the spine placement.
13. By the way Roddio shafts are due for March, I am sorry I thought I had mentioned that when I posted about the ONOFF launch event last year.
14. I don't know about the Crazy iron shafts but their driver shafts have the spine marked and Crazy then applies the graphics with the logo aligned with the Spine and the specs down. They suggest logo (spine) up to keep it out of the swing path so the high modulus carbon can do its work and the spine prevents the shaft from bowing downwards. Crazy's shaft master told me this himself at the factory.
15. No spec differences between blue and red modus3, its color only. I will add the limited editions this weekend to the shop but they must be purchase with the Regio Formula shaft as well... seems like a pretty good shaft.
16. Just a quick note. After placing an order for a set of Personals for a customer, Epon has told me that they are officially sold out. That was the last set! Those who got them hang on to them as they will become scarce!
17. I had another session with the T388 today... I am on holiday though till Jan 5th but I will be blogging about it. For a 388cc its much more forgiving than I thought. Very strong trajectory and runs a lot. I usually hit a high ball and too much spin for not much run.. Had a 10.5* with stock SR shaft and wow penetrating trajectory and lots of roll! Stock shaft is very nice, Kobayashi-san chose the shaft himself from GD's prototype stock and he told me last week its a cross between the low spin of a DI and the control of the BB. I will leave it at that and you can see my blog writeup in a week or so!
18. Added Dr. H's second set which is our first set of MP-63 from Yoro!
19. Okay so who is coming this year so we can all meet up? Feb 16 and 17 (open to public days) Feb 15 - Industry days We are there 15 and 16.
20. No extra sets, what gets sent to us are customer orders. Yes S20C. Face milling is different from Yamaha though it does feature crosses/X's. I don't consider them shiny, the edges of the back face are mirror but the sole is tungsten, the topline and the neck and face are all satin. Roger Cleveland spends a lot of time in Japan including at at Endo where this was forged...
21. They can go as low as 55* for the lie. Thats not a problem... they have a new driver coming out as well!
22. <img'>http://www.golftoimpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/DSCF5608.jpg"> Another year has blown right by us. 2012 was probably our busiest year ever. Tourspecgolf.com has grown to over 14,000 customers worldwide and our brand portfolio is bigger than ever. It was still quite a struggle with the stronger than ever yen, but in recent weeks we've seen the yen weaken which could be a big positive for 2013. We look forward to 2013 as well as all new clubs and equipment from many awesome JDM brands. The Japan Golf Fair is right around the corner in February and as always if any of you are coming please give us a shout as we'd love to meet up. It's Christmas eve here in Japan, and while Christmas is not even considered a holiday here (as well as in other parts of the world), I wanted to take this chance to wish all of our readers, forum members and customers, on behalf of Tourspecgolfer (Chris), Tourspecgirl (Jacquelyn), Tatsuro and myself a safe and happy holidays with your loved ones. Thank you for your support and we appreciate each and every one of you.
23. Yes those are the 10's, I like those very much....
