corky3
very pretty! is this more of a players club? yeah I think that's the considered opinion, although if you're a 'good' mid capper it can work. Basically need a good swing speed to get the best out of it. For me, X-drive heads always look the best, and thus induce a certain amount of confidence. TBone
Anyone have the face height on the 445? OK! How about this.....Which has the deeper face height, the AF101 or the TS 445? Thanks!
MGB
I'm seriously considering picking up a 445. I hit my cousin's a few times and just bombed the heck out of it. Even outdrove my bigger, longer G10 on a couple of occasions. So I went and picked up a demo from the local distributor and had a less than stellar first round with it. To be fair, we played in extremely high humidity, medium wind and some rain and distance was hard to come by then. But I felt strangely out of sync with the 445. Perhaps the shaft's just too light for me? I have a Diamana BB 83s in my G10 (D5 swing weight), should I get the GD MD-7 stiff-flex instead? On a more shallow note, how does the color combo of the 445 with the MD look? I really like the red/black paint scheme of the 445; it looks so sexy. Thanks in advance, for the advice. Forte
MGB, you will most likey bomb it if you change shafts. All I know is that the X-Drives really have a hot face.

I love the feel of it and yes, the face does seem to be pretty hot but the stock shaft seems to be spinning a bit much for me. Well, I'm playing again tomorrow. I'll give it another go before I decide which way to go.
jacksonlui
the 445 at 10.5 degree with the stock stiff seems perfect for my 88mph swing. i'm getting really good numbers with this combo, on par with my XLS Tour but feels a heck of a lot better. the stock stiff seems softer than a stiff. The balance is where it shines for me. might not work for everyone. i'm getting 230-240 carry at about 20 degrees with spin about 2k. these are at swing speeds of 92-93. i wasn't able to swing the stiff xcon6 at these speeds, maybe it just matches my tempo and swing profile. does anyone know what other shafts have the same bend profile and weight as the black diamana? Forte
Jack, I think most Japanese spec Stiff are equivalent to US reg (90mph) or SR flex (95mph).
corky3
Supposedly the 'tour only' Diamana black falls somewhere between the blue & the white. But then again it seems that there are various versions of a lot of the popular shafts right now......eg. 2 versions of the Fui Rombax z series. Maybe Gocchin can chime in? he knows more than most Still it's great that you've stumbled upon a great combination for you
jacksonlui
i wonder if i went with a regular flex, would i gain more swing speed?
gocchin
Jack I'm actually surprised you can swing the stiff, as while SOME STOCK OEM shafts for SOME brands do play soft, the Tourstage ones especially this one isn't supposed to. The specs call for it to be pretty stiff and tight with a pretty low torque rating at 2.8*. I could see someone swinging this maybe in the high 90's but high 80's/low 90's kinda surprises me. But as you said it may not work for everyone... (^_^) Unfortunately there is no R flex, only an SR. As corky says above it supposed to fall between a blue and white. Your spin numbers are very Diamana like but is that a 20* launch? That sounds a bit high. (^_^)
jacksonlui
yup, it's more like 18 and sometimes 19 with spin at about 2k sometimes it would spin too much, up to 3k, i think it's a spinny head. this launches very high for me. the epon 9.5 launches lower. the shaft doesn't seem stiff or boardy at all. in fact, my v2 sr flex seems more boardy than this. i can tell when something is too stiff when i don't get a good swing speed. when i'm getting about 88 or 91, the shaft is unloading properly for me. the head is a 10.5 so it helps a bit. i also get nice draws with this driver. not sure why, i guess as long as it works and is near optimum for me, i won't ask why
