TK3
Hi guys, Thanks to all who chimed in with their thoughts on the Longest 3 Wood out there. So, of course, the next topic is... LONGEST DRIVER / DRIVER /Shaft COMBO In my mind - and from what I've read on these posts - The RYOMA is King. Is it time to dethrone the King?? Please include the driver heads that are above the .083 COR. Heck, why don't we make 2 Comments - 1 for legal COR and 1 for those that exceed the legal COR. Should be interesting. Cheers TK3
Ian-500
My longest drive ever (335yds) was with a Kamui Works 9.5* with a Diamana Kai'li 60x

marmaduk
Longest drive was 321 yards with a Ryoma D1 original shafted with an Accra at 44.5 inch. Never hit non conforming before.
supo
single shot: prob the astro tour / diamana stinger 70s combo, last year I hit the mother of all drives that il prob never replicate. for consistent length , prob the jbeam 435 /stinger 70x combo, I get that pretty nicely more often than not its got a wee kick in the head that gives it a bit of extra oomph. bngolfer
Well, my one longest drive was hit with a Tad Moore, green ti-driver, about 320 cc I’d say. I had sanded the face which originally was painted too. It was 8 degrees and shafted with a matte black Grafalloy prototype shaft first. Then I had a gripless AJ Tech shaft in it when I hit the one.. I drove a 385 yard par 4 to the front of the green. Yes, the wind was in my back. I still have the driver and this was in 1998 or possibly 1999. As of late, when I’ve played JDM drivers (started with Honma Hi-Powered and Tour Model persimmons back in the early 1990’s) and my body is not as responsive as before, I think the Yamaha V201 Tourmodel with Oban Kiyoshi Purple gave me some long ones, but the white Grand Prix with black face and Diamana X 70 was consistently long for me. I regret selling it.
chiromikey
Consistently longest, that’s easy...jBeam/Crazy 435. I’ve had them on many shafts but it was most consistent on a Seven Dreamers shaft. Had many gps and competition measured in the 360yd range. Nolixul
Longest drives were with a specialist LD competition driver - SMT DB455 5 deg with an Accuflex Tantrum XX @ 48". Not something I'd be able to handle these days. For normal play, and this is just too funny, a Kamui Works Ray 9.5 with an Aldila Protopype 60x @ 46". Yes this was Ian's head, mentioned above, that shuttled back and forth between the two of us! The other club that tied it was a MacGregor MT460 8.5 (same model as Greg Norman's driver from the 2008 Open that he placed 3rd in at 53 years old) and also shafted with the Protopype. I strongly suspect that the MT460 had Japanese roots, as per the Mactec line that preceeded it. However, unlike the Mactec line, it had a plush feel and nice sound not unlike the Kamui. Have only tried one non-conforming driver, a small old Yamaha head that must have been between 300 and 350cc, probably nearer 300. Cannot remember the model name. It was shafted with a XX Fineone T3 @ 47". Despite the butt stiffness, the thing was like a noodle at the tip. Most drives were pretty ordinary and it was tough to time the strike. However, when you hit a particular spot on the face, the hit sounded totally different - like a high pitched whip crack or rifle shot. The sound and feel was so different to the other hits with the driver that you could have been hitting a different driver. First time it happened, I thought I'd cracked the face or something. Anyway, when you hit that spot, the ball flight was also different. The thing just left with speed and kept going - easily 30yds more carry than just missing that spot. I think the head was just a freak and probably not typical of your usual Hi-Cor heads, because you shouldn't see such a step up in performance from a mm or two difference in strike. nobmontana
My longest drive has to be the one where I carried a 314 par 4 ... at an Arnold Palmer design course at Big Sky Resort in Montana. 6500 ft above sea level mind you.... Ball landed on the green and hopped off 10 yards into the rough behind the green..... that was fun! This was back when I just started club building and was not into JDMs yet. if memory serves. I was using a Geek Golf Failsafe3 9 deg head paired with a Mitsubishi Bassara Wyvern 53 TS built to 46" The thing was a monster!
+TourSpecGolfer
Jbeam 435 Black w/7D or AAA Consistently outdrives anything else I have. I have a lot. Put the AAA into the Cally Epic Forged and it was always 5-10 yards shorter. #jailbreak

driverhead
The Adams Launch Lab driver was hard to hit but rewarded pure strikes shafted with a PROJECT X shaft driver shaft 5.5 was the only driver I hit 3 straight drives on the golf course over 300 yards. It was perfect distance conditions,, mid 80 temps , great ball flight conditions and ample roll. The PRGR RS driver is forgiving, but rewards a good strike with perfect trajectory and great roll out. Fantastic driver for windy conditions. Edited March 12, 2018 by driverhead
