Royal Collection TRC review and question
Spoon replied to stevopagolf's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Come to think of it, I see the point now. The 17 was indeed heavy even w the graphite. Too heavy intact that I reshafted It with a diff shaft. The 2o is better buti still have the 950ht shaft as backup. Updates soon. Glad the 20 is workin out for you -
Damn you truly indeed know your stuff! Not a lot of folks know about the glenfacias. I need to get my hands on the karuizawa! If I win the shochu cup will get some bottles. James thanks!

Royal Collection TRC review and question

Steve, it's shafted with an nspro 100 shaft. I don't know what kind ofnshaft that is as its not on nippons website. Imhave the 17 and 20 shafted with stock gd ut 75s . So far so good I may reshaft the 20 though with an nspro 950ht just like in my 3 and 4 irons. maybe the counterweight is suppose to counter the heavy weight of the head? That doesn't make sense though Sangha point of RC was to make the head heavy to get out of the thick stuff easily. -
unfortunately they are really all out of stock sorry. all i have is my personal items

thats no ordinary macallan thats the bespoke 55yr old. 525$ a shot:) as for the latest ardbegs ( my favorite) i tried the supernova and love it. no need for the gators yet. might get a bottle though on august. id really love to try the karuizawas and yamazakis but we dont have access to those locally. hopefully i can get some in october as im headed to osaka at aorund that time.
-
haha i did not even notice yours, no need i will change mine to my favorite single malt to match the 302s:) and stew regarding decripts, you have a ton yourself like. scimitaring wormburners etc etc. i think i will never forget wormburners, i think you may be the one who described perfectly what stinger means.

no ones questioning the yamahas, ive never hit em so cant comment, they are on the top of my list though and am eyeing a set of 08 models for my back up set to replace my nanovs which are going to the chopping block.
-
havent tried the yamahas but i have tried the TS and other similar models. do note that i am coming from onoff 247s and more recently my beloved yonex nanovs. the nanovs are very accurate players cb and not very forgiving with off center hits. distance was soso but when you hit it pure you are rewarded and very workable, unfortunately was not able to utilize this aspect. as long as its straight im a happy camper! now shifting to the 302s was a very big change. they almost seem like GI irons compared to the nanovs. they are much longer too almost 1.5* club difference even though lofts are only 1* apart. i guess its the total package. because of the yonex i became a better ball striker that the 302s seem like a no brainer and a lot more forgiving even on off center hits and they dont sting so much. i owe a lot to the yonex nanovs, had i jumped straight into the 302s i may probably have different opinions. stew also has the same inputs, his yamahas are also much longer than anything hes tried. loft per loft.

ask your epon retailers guys. Dale, there should be one in the UK there is clearly a doggie
-
are you talking about the grey and black umbrella? mine has the dog
-
I agree that's a beautiful pitching w. At what iron does that angled look start? Stew reminds me of the hogan personals
-
Hard stepping and putting them in the 302s. They were straight up in my yonex and dint feel right Softer than I would like , higher ball flight. Hard stepping 1x and putting em in the 302s made a big diff. The 1050s and the Nippon modus straight up were too HL for me

the one in my bag:)
-
you have it the other way around. the stock finish is softer. not by alot. very miniscule but noticeable to those that have tried both. in short they are still very soft by forged standards. even softer than the af tours in regular finish.
-
well with the finish, teaches you to be more disciplined and hit on the sweetspot haha. the feel is al dente, crispy is how i like to descrbe it. not hard by any means but defintely firmer. if i hadnt hit the normal ones i would consider these soft.
-
yamaha, nanovs, 302s to name a few. those are all endo forged:) frankly there are so many, narow it down by what suits your eye. then decide from there

ive tried all with the xception of the kbs c tapers. right now i have gained over 1.5 club distance with my hardstep modus 3 S. they start low but soar and have a flat trajectory. nspro learned from the protos. shimadas are good, probably second after nspro but i like the nspro the best bec i got my desired traj. lower yet flattens out apex. the shimadas are similar but dont feel as good. i probably tried all the shafts, did a round about 3 x over. Nspro hands down.

I play 7og driver shafts, 120gram irons, 130gram wedges, but I can no way hit 80 and 7o gram fw shafts. Weird. I can do mid high 6os at most. My fw shaft actually cpms less than my driver shaft. Tried 80x In theory itnshould have worked, failure, 7os no go. 65s perfectomundo and just not any 65s , has to Be mid launch mid spin. That's why I have been struggling with the ozik from the get go
-
Yeah the 3wood is your best friend but can be your enemy when you least Expect it. I think this particular culprit is the shaft. I think id prefer a low mid kick shaft to get the Ball airborne quicker. Today I had one good shot with it, I was so OFF that I used my 22 driving iron for second Shots on long par 3s and tight par 4s. Wouldnhave used my rc20 ute but don't have it yet.

Stew, hey that f6m2 from your egg how would you compare that to a FEX fw 65s? I like My wood shafts actually softer and about the same weight as my driver. Would you say the 65s would play stiffer than the f6m2? I'm a bit worried because at only 69 grams the cpm is Coming out to 270. A bit stiff for a fw shaft. Based on the tables of course and not real world experience. Let me know your thoughts as I don't want this to be another futile shaft experiment
-
HOw timely, been struggling with my fw shafts. I had bad experience with my first crazy shaft I think it was the f80x on my friend spoon I was so traumatized by that one. Most definitely the wrong model for me. Anyway vie tried most fairway woe shafts with the exception of the right crazy. I'm sure there is one up my alley. For now I'm just so in love w the quadra FEX in my driver it makes sense to get them in my woods as well.
-
I am resurrecting this thread, I never did end up getting the crazy or the quadra. I have however tried a plethora of shafts Ranging from quattro md, ozik fm series, tour ad di, machine drev, fubuki alpha . Was that 5? They are all inadequAte. The Best would be the gds in feel, dispersion goes to the ozik but surprisingly feels the the worst amongst the bunch. The drev Even felt better. Vie learned the hard expensive wAy. Why do I even bother I should have gotten the quadra FEX fw shaft from the very start. That Will be the final experiment, I will not try any other shaft in my driver but quadra, why should it be different in the woods. Il have updates soon.
