Quadra experts pls chime in, What to get FEX 65S OR FEX proto 65s
Spoon replied to Spoon's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Ok guys 1 round under the belt. I knew I would like this and the wow factor is expected but there are some things I find puzzling. First of all this is definitely way way tighter! I can go at it and it holds up to anything I dish at it. Also this is a lot higher launch than I expected it to be. This is a good thing, the difference in height is noticeable vs the original quadra. I love the height , it is also lower spin compared to the quadra, definitely get more roll out with this one. Now the puzzling part, it feels softer for me. I played it at 45.5 to have a little bit of room in tipping or butt trimming. Is the softness I am feeling actually the snap that others talked about? Maybe it's the kick? Others commented that this is stouter I am getting the opposite sensation. Whats weird though is that it holds up . My bad shot is a pull, now I am getting pushes. I attribute this to the swing but this shaft is definitely a different beast. I would not say better or longer just different. Putting this on the 102 iz the best decision I have made. Still debating wether to tip trip or butt trim to 45.25. I think I could have even gone an xs. Oh well not complaining. One more round Tom to test this sick puppy. -
from this, yonex gets my vote..again! i can just stare at the head, wish i had the game for it

that is really great to know. i was a little intimidated when stew mentioned flex for flex the protos were stouter. the regular fex was already pretty behaved. and this one is even more behaved? wow. cant wait to game it tom. i had some problems getting used to the original fex in terms of turning the club over, once i got used to it no issue. -

just to update i had a quadra FEX proto thats gathering dust, it was intended for my new yonex 380cc driver head but i got impatient and decided to take stews advice and place the proto into the 102 and transfer the Non proto fex into the yonex. the 102 fex and i have developed a strong relationship. nothing wrong with it, in fact its perfect, super tight and super reliable. all my death holes in my club are virtually non existent. i wonder if the proto can oust the el primero combo. i already know it will. -
haha i wish! epon did come out with a 380cc technicity driver 5 years ago. too bad i sold it!
-
the epon and yonex are conforming. shaft selection is key in whatever club you get most especially in the blades! copper aftours are the prettiest irons i have ever seen. they look great in the 301/302s but are just magical in the blades. as for the bridgestone tourstage, was likely the shaft, most are forged in endo, so combined with the peenings they will be butter!

Gosh i have to hand it to you for coming out with those stats, im speechless.

i am going to play mine at 45.5! dont want to waste my new quadra proto just in case the head doesnt work. i got this originally to play on tight courses and was hoping to add more length compared to my 102. apparently not. build not a factor for me considering the price point.
-
i briefly forayed into blades with the aftours! very forgiving for a blade but went back to CBs. now if there is a blade that im so dying to try it is the Yonex ryo ezones. very beautiful, nice angular lines. imho the best looking blade out there

yes paypal. pm tourspecgolfer

well , ive never played without a caddy except hawaii and the usa and we had gps on our golfcarts. in the PI we have to use caddies and our carts have no gps. and seriously they know their stuff but sometimes its hard to accept their yardages when you want to lay up and play safe. learned that our eyes can be very deceiving! yeah stew i heard that the battery door of the bushnells have a problem. thats the reason i did not go for that one. check out the gx-4, awesome!

Just me or is it a good year for JDM gear? havent seen so many shafts, drivers, woods and irons and hybrids at the same time. many this is going to be an expensive year and already broke my new year's resolution on keeping the same bag. since then i have gotten new iron shafts, new irons, new wedges, new driver and matching shaft. and its only may! what else can we expect? seriously have never heard of ryoma and a bunch of the other wedge brands but here they are in TSG and with all the good reviews am craving for Em. what can we expect from the rest of the year in terms of equipment? thanks to Chris, Gocchin and the gang for making my equipment adventures all the more exciting! Those demo sales have been mighty helpful as well:) im a bit surprised though as the putter scene has been dead this 2011.

stephen, have you gotten your clubs already? FYI i am back to the 17* egg, wife was not using it so i got it back and got her a 17* lady fairway wood from KZG.

spot on frank! the 702s are very very hot but coming from the 502s and 302s i will choose the marshmallow feel over the al dente clicky feel of the 702s. but the 702s are really really forgiving, just hard to pick this if you have tried softer. just me though. i loved my 502s gamed them since they were released they were perfect but every golfer gets bored with their clubs and just has to change them for no logical or practical reason. lets face it if we are on this site nothing in the bag will last:)
-
well i finally got one. have put this purchase on the sidelines for years, this is one tool that can seriously take advantage of in practice, most especially since all my current irons are bladed traditional lofts. have to get used to the new yardages. just picked up a leupold gx4. who uses a rangefinder and has it helped with your game?
-
never did figure that one out. the 302s id understand but not the aftours! especially since your a hardcore blade guy
-
Thanks for the amazing clubs and all the help

Spoon replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
guys debating what to shaft this sick pup with. i was originally considering the DI7S /DJ7S but i did not want to spend a lot of time second guessing so made up my mind to get the quadra fex proto. thing is i have heard that the protos are stiffer than the regular FEX. planning on going 65S. or should i go SR? lost some ss with my injury but i am gaming the 65s fex nicely, could handle stiffer but its fine the way it is. any suggestions guys? think this would be an awesome pair for the 380cc 10* head. -
payment sent:)
