GF USA vs GF
So GF USA has lesser number produced per model/design? If so then the exclusivity justifies the price difference.

GF USA vs GF
What is the difference? Are they different lines within GF? I noticed a big price difference as well.

Please help me decide between Vokey TVD and Epon 208KGX wedges
I know that the KB Black wedge shafts were intentionally designed to be stiffer than the normal chrome ones. IIRC the logic behind this was in most shaft sets the 9, pw, and all wedge shaft were all the same shafts. KB believed that because of the added weight in the wedge heads this would lead to "soft" wedge flexes. That is why the black shafts were designed to be slightly stiffer, a better frequency slope. Jury is still out because the bounce is a little high for the courses I play in (hard!!!).

Please help me decide between Vokey TVD and Epon 208KGX wedges
I never tried the older Epons but I have the 208 in the 56/copper finish. I game MT28 V3s and have for a long time. The strange thing about the Epons is that they don't feel like they are spinning much, like how the V3s do. BUT the results how me that they are spinning. the shots seems to grab especially towards the end when I expect it to take another but or small roll out but it doesn't. Maybe it is the KB Tour black shaft on the Epon? The 208 hasn't made the bag yet because I think it will work on lusher courses than what I generally play on.

Golf Today 2009 Iron Forgiveness Test
Thank you for the explanation.

Gold's skull wedge
If I were in maketing I wouldn't be naming a wedge that. It doesn't give out positive thoughts when you have a wedge and it is called "skull". Just to add, I noticed the reference to GF USA in the wedge's info. What makes GF USA different from GF? I noticed the GF USA stuff seems to be higher priced.

Golf Today 2009 Iron Forgiveness Test
200 yard 6irons!!! Even with jacked up lofts this guy is pretty long. I like how the Japanese test things like this and try to put measurable or at least quantifiable numbers on them just for a good perspective. G, I can't read Japanese but would you have the raw numbers, just to see what the difference in percentage is? 2% could be 5 yards or it could be 5 feet.

Glad you asked it. That what I was trying to drive at "nicely". I know Himeji is where a lot of good/great smmalish foundries are but even then it would be nice to know if you're going to be dropping major $$$ on a set of irons. Personally I would love to know more about Himeji as well. I know a lot of great products come out of there, but why is that? Why the many seeming "mystical" reference to Himeji?

Lob Wedge Bounce
2 comments I have not played in Japan but generally I have heard the conditions around the greens are generally on the "lush" side making more bounce a better option for the average player. I have an Epon 56 and the bounce is at 14* IIRC. It looks but does not play that much at all. There is something in the sole grind that makes it "play" less I guess. The Epon 60 is 10/bounce and I would expect it to "play" less than that as well. Just to add, IMHO for the player with a less than stellar shot game a bounce of about 10* in the 60 would actually make it more playable, as long as the player knows what specific shots he can play with them.

Aesthetics
Look at address is extremely important. The back not so much. Although some of the phrases that they have on some JDM clubs makes me smile :)

An Overdue Idea
Bending wouldn't be much of an issue then since you are talking about mainly bending only 1-3degrees.
-
An Overdue Idea
Then it s all a matter of the number on the bottom then? I have never minded the numebr, just the yardages I get with each club
-
An Overdue Idea
Would it be easier to find a set with the lofts you like? If none find ones that specific bounce/sole grinds that would suit the lofts you would want them bent to?

So who does the forging? What material (1018/1020/1025, S18C/S20C)?

Srixon Z-Star X
I played with the country distributor about 4 weeks ago. He was given a sleeve of the 09 Srixon ball. It was still marked ZURS, I can't remember the other markings. I had played with him a few times before at the same course and for this round it seemed that his trajectory was higher and longer carry. Greenside I tried it on chips and it felt the same as the current ZURS but seemed to check up faster on the low checker (could've been the greens that day though).

Heard a Rumor.
xxio replied to ProSpec's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearEither way both industries are not doing well. Not that BSG is the "authority" or the site it used to be. Just look at the traffic compared to 18 months ago.

K's wedge shaft
Wedge hosels? Taper as well?
-
K's wedge shaft
Seems like the Epon wedges are 9.2mm hosels which make them parallel/370. I guess it is off to buy some shims if the K's don't work. I have always preferred DG in my wedges.
-
K's wedge shaft
Thanks G. Are they parallel or taper? IIRC the Epon site has all the K's shafts as being .370.
-
K's wedge shaft
what are the specs? How do they perform? Similar to DG or to NS Pros?

TSG BEST OF 2008 CONTEST!
Best JDM Driver in 2008. Miz MP600. The JDM version. Why? Try it with the STOCK Japan shaft. It is as good as most of the $300 and up stuff out there. Imagine not having to reshaft :) It is also works the best at lowering my spin at the 1 setting. Best JDM Iron of 2008. TC1000. Fourteen still makes the best balance of performance, feel, and durability. I play a lot of courses where the lies aren't that good. Durability is an issue for me. When my TB1000s have to be retired after 09 this is what I will be buying. Best JDM Wedge of 2008. Again Fourteen the Limited wedge set. The black finish is great and fairly durable than most. Having the 48 is a bonus to replace the sometimes "reverse offset" pw found in a few JDM sets. Best JDM Shaft of 2008. Aftermarket is still GD. They play a little soft there is more room for experimenting/tipping to find the right amount of "kick" you want. They also feel as less "flimsy" than most JDM shafts especially in the <65 gram range. The "others" in that weight range feel like their going to break on a bad swing. Best Course you played on in 2008 The redesigned Manila Golf. Shortish course but all shots and clubs are needed, especially the club in between your ears. It now has great character. Best shot you made in 2008. 5 footer for birdie on the 18th. Not much break and slightly uphill. Seems nothing great, BUT it was to shoot 71/break par for the first time in about 8 years. My distance ain't what it used to be so I have to find other ways to score. Best Pro player in 2008. Why is this even a question? Paddy almost had me break out my Wilson Progressives just to celebrate the 2 majors. Harrington and the way he won both times shows how much intestinal fortitude he has.

Geotech Special Grind
It mentions a "smaller head". How much smaller, let's say compared to a MT28V3?
