  1. I totally dig the head shape of these Miuras!! 🙂 Interesting!! the 3001 S shafts are supposedly about the same CPM as 950GH in R flex.... I don't know how V90 S compares but I assume they're stiffer than 950GH R.... I always thought that softer flex shafts produced more backspin. So Im a bit surprised that you get more distance with the flexier 3001s I once had a k's 8001 in J015CB irons which spun like mad and I had on average 15 yards less than when I had Modus 105 S in them... same head, different shaft. K's 8001 are quite a bit flexier than the Modus 105. So while I completely see how back spin can impact overall distance, my experience was opposite to what you saw from a shaft stiffness perspective.
  2. After recommending someone here on the forum for a forgiving set of forged irons, I got myself intrigued and ended up picking up a mint set of 3-SW ‘12 Tourstage X-Blade GR Forged for a mere $200 + shipping!!! This model, head shape wise, resembles somewhat of the Ping Eye 2 irons but with less offset. It is one piece carbon steel forged. Something about the shape that has always kept me interested. The sole is wider than most player’s forged heads with nice leading and trailing edge relief. Stock shafts were NS950GH WF in Regular flex which to my pleasant surprise actually worked great for my swing!! I’m really liking the feel of the regular flex much more so than the 950GH stiffs. They don’t feel whippy to me at all. I am likely designating this iron set for the winter season as my Seven SCs are serving me well for the current playing season.
  3. Nothing from big name brands are forged in Japan these days. For those specific models, it says the overall club are made in China and Japan. But they aren't specific about where the heads are made. But I assume the heads are made in China. Regardless, these heads are Body: Carbon Steel + Face: Maraging Steel or what are known as multi-material heads similar to a lot of heads that are deceivingly labeled as "Forged" these days. I stay away from those kind because they do not feel the same as full carbon steel forged heads. Not the same category as "Forged" heads as I know it where the whole head is made of mild Carbon steel. The special editions made by Miura Giken for OnOff Labospec and PRGR are full carbon steel forged. Oh... and some of the Yonex models are still supposedly forged in Niigata Japan.. Other than that, my understanding is that Endo's stuff mostly come from their Thailand factory. ( not necessarily a bad thing by the way )
  4. I thought the grip was installed properly. Did not have an issue there. What I could not get over was the cheap plastic portion used on the head. $449 for a putter with a head half made of plastic? nope... not me. I returned mine.
  5. The 00 irons are only available in Japan through their direct sales channels and fitting centers. The product page is only available on their Japanese website. There are a couple of YouTube reviews (in Japanese) if you search.
  6. https://www.compo-t.com/product/fire-express/utility/fire-express-ut-hr Here is the summary. First UT shaft from Fire Express to incorporate 6 axis carbon sheet. 60g uses Torayca M40S and 50g uses Torayca T800S to help with stability while maintaining the high speed aspect of the shaft characteristic. Tip section uses Tungsten powder sheet which provides added stability of face angle. Assists with higher smash factor and heavier impact as well as controlling the launch angle. Sounds like this UT shaft was designed to better blend in the UT together with FW and DR where the shafts have become lighter but more stable. Kick point says low-mid which suggests higher launch angle.
  7. some spammer advertiser. I removed the thread.
  8. You can get them individually with a custom order through TSG. Not aware of any compatible weights from other brands.

The original Yamaha Secret irons essentially copied the shape of Ping Eye2 irons and added decorative carbon fiber plate on the back cavity. I would not pay $100 for something like that. If that is the type of shape you like and you want JDM, a 2012 Tourstage X Blade GR Forged has a similar shape but is fully forged with mild Carbon Steel (likely Endo forged) You can find a set with NS950GH shafts for $200-$300 easily.
  10. RXS is a great ball too. very soft feel.
  11. After Matsuyama won the Masters and I learned that he switched putter grips before the tournament to a Lamkin Deep etched full cord grip, I decided to give the grip another look... In recent years I've been mostly using the original version Iomic Absolute grips .. last year I found a cool pistol shaped grip from STM called STM P-1 which had a very pronounced pistol end shape which I grew to like very much. Texture is not the best but I really liked the shape and how it fit in my hands. Recently, I picked up a Scotty Phantom X 5.5 which came with Scotty's Pistolero Plus grip and this also really fit well in my hands. ... now back to the Lamkin Deep Etched.. If you look at the shape of the Deep Etched grip, it has a pretty nice size pistol end along with a flat front side. I believe they classify this grip as a paddle style grip and the diameter would qualify this grip as a mid-size.... The horizontal etches... are deep and sharp on the edges. For people with sensitive hands, they may even feel a edgy and uncomfortable. Might be a love or hate type of thing. I have rough hands, so I don't mind these at all... they feel soft enough for me. I swapped out a couple of my bladed putters with the Deep Etched and they feel awesome! The size, shape fit my current preference well. Now if I can just get my average putts per round under 30 I'd be golden!! 🙂
  12. Years ago, I spoke to a guy who worked at Cool Clubs in Arizona and was also fitting PGA tour players at the time. He had insight into balls used on tour and told me that while Titleist and Callaway had to hand pick balls for their staff players, Bridgestone just had their staff players ( at the time were Matt Kuchar and Brandt Snedeker ) play off-the-shelf retail balls. What he implied was that T and C brands had larger manufacturing tolerances with their balls while BS had tighter tolerances good enough to use retail balls for their staff Pros. Since then, I've pretty much stuck to Bridgestone balls aside from just testing from time to time on new stuff that come out. For us who play golf for recreation, I suppose it really doesn't make much of a difference which brand of balls we use... but since we, TSG'ers, play uber high quality clubs and putters, it made good sense to me to stick with high quality balls too. Of course that is just my opinion and preference. 🙂 Nothing wrong with sticking with what has worked and still is working for you and not worry about what's new out there!
  13. I've been playing the Tour B RX thru the colder season but now our temps our up a bit, I thought I would try the X and XS for the Spring and Summer. A couple of weeks ago, I bought a sleeve each of the 2020 Tour B X and XS and started putting with it on the carpet. For some reason, the firmer feel of the X off my putters felt better to my hands more than the softer feel of the XS. I felt that I could control the distance a bit better with the firmer X. By "firmer" it's not clicky or anything... it's more of a refined firmness. As you may know, the X and XS are geared towards SS of 105 mph or faster.... I'm below those numbers these days... so I've been using the RX for the last few years and they are very good balls for me. However, feel off the putter on the RX is soft and closer to the XS. Yesterday, I brought out the X balls to the course to play my round. Drives were exceptionally well with one of the drives rolling out close to 300 yds. Trajectory seemed higher than the RX I normally use ... I even succeeded going over high trees to cut a corner with my tee shot on No.14 which I usually don't even try!! Like the Pro V1X, this firmer version is designed for higher launch and lower spin on drives which I have confirmed!!! Feel off the driver was surprisingly very good. I remember trying the BS 330X a number of years ago and I hated them due to the super hard feel. The new ones feel so much better. Iron and wedge shots also felt nice with enough spin to hold on the firmer greens we had yesterday. Maybe a touch less backspin around the greens. I still need to try the new XS but I don't anticipate much of a surprise there. But I would totally be happy using these X balls during the warmer months ahead!! Will update once I play the new XS..

Sorry to hear your buyer bailed. Some people just don't understand internet etiquette at all. I can only imagine how awful they'd be on the course. GLWS!! this is an awesome deal for a great set of heads!!
  15. look like an ad for their website....
  16. Stew-san, Seven did a great job designing these CBs. Slightly stronger lofts and slightly more forgiving than your traditional player’s CBs. I’m loving my set and don’t expect myself from moving away from these anytime soon. Indeed great price on these heads!! GLWS!!

nice Stew-san. Please add a photo with name / date tag. GLWS!!
  19. While I have no need for the time being to buy those types of iron sets, I'm sure there is a market out there who just want a 7-PW or something so they can do the longer clubs in UTs and fairways. From that regard, I don't see anything wrong with it. If I was that type of player, I'd be annoyed if every set on the market were 5-PW when I don't need all of the clubs in the set.
  20. Instead of updating very old posts , why don't you just send a personal message to the seller directly?
  21. I see a wave of commemorative equipment coming! Srixon Driver, Irons, Wedges, Scotty putter... Asics shoes...
  22. Is he actually using Srixon driver this season? I know his irons are the Z Forged... great win for Hideki and for Japan!! First the Amateur Women's champ, then Masters... My hope is that golf in Japan becomes more accessible and casual than what has been.
  23. They were saying the bogey free round by Hideki was the only one this week. I actually did not pick Hideki... I was about to .... but my guy needs to score low on Sunday and since Hideki shot super low today, I think the odds of him shooting low again tomorrow is pretty slim .. especially with the added pressure he will feel as the 36 hole leader. I shot 77 today which was not my best.... and I only have a 1 hdcp at my course ... My net 76 combined with the picked Pro's Sunday score. I picked Xander and I think my pick was good. He is well in the hunt and has historically improved his score in his final rounds.
  24. Matsuyama started off good on his first day! and I thought the starting ceremony with Lee Elders was really nice to see. I'm watching the first 2 days closely as I am playing a local tournament this weekend where we have a side game to choose a partner PGA Pro from the Masters where we combine our individual net score on Saturday with the Sunday Gross score of the PGA Pro we choose from the Masters! kind of fun! I need to predict who will do well on Sunday. (not necessarily win the Masters)
