I have 4 drivers built around my game Less Forgiving Setup Option A: Honma TW717 430 8.5* Ahina 60x @ 45.5" (260 carry low penetrating flight with more roll low spin, 290 max) Option B: TRPX S-013 9.5* Ahina 70x @ 45.0" (260 carry, mid flight with mostly carry mid spin, 275 max) More Forgiving Setup Option C: Honma TW717 455 9.5* Kai'li 60x @ 45.5" (265 carry low penetrating flight with mid roll low/mid spin, 285 max) Option D: RomaRo 455LX 9.5* Kai'li 70x @ 45.0" (265 carry mid flight with mostly carry mid spin, 280 max) I'm trying to narrow down to just two driver, one for each bag... I've been using heavier 70g shafts for the last 10 years with great success, but a ligther 60g have given me really long and straight drivers whenever I gamed it but still not as consistent fairway finder as the 70g. My wife, who golfs with me the most, tells me I perform the same with all 4 drivers so just keep two and sell the other two (lol....) I will decide at the end of this season but most likely will keep one driver with 60g low lofted head and another with 70g higher lofted head.

First, thanks TSG again for their generous gestures into gifting everyone who submitted a testimonial a free wedge. I was one of the fortunate ones who received a full 52/56/60 set. [THE BUILD] I have been tinkering with various iron and wedge shafts over the last 6 years and for the last 2.5 years I've settled on Project X 6.0 for both irons and wedges. So I immediately built up the 52 and 60 wedge with Project X Satin 6.0, Royal Blue Ferrules with white / silver rings (Cellparts.com), and Pure Pro black grips playing at 35.25". I normally play 52/58 wedge lofts but decided to play the 60 as-is for a few rounds first. [THE PHOTOS] [THE TEST] I played approximately 15 rounds over the last 3 weeks, with 9 of rounds played over the Canada Day long weekend (Jul 1-3), including a 66-hole marathon in one day (could have completed 72-holes as there were still 1.5hr daylight when we stopped for dinner). [FEEL] Like others have noted, these wedges feel very soft even on mis-hits off the toe and heel. The only time you can feel any harshness is when you blade or skull one. I don't think these wedges are too soft but if you want feedback on mis-hits then these wedges aren't for you - they are perfect for me as I prefer softer feeling wedges. My previous wedges (Chikara V1 retail, Kasco DW-113, Fourteen RM11) were more of a solid "click" when hit compared to the more spongy feel of the Seven. [FULL SHOTS] I rarely hit full shots with bladed wedges as I prefer hitting partial PW for more forgiveness on mis-hits. With the Seven the I decided to try hitting full shots again and I was very happy that of the 50 or so full swings with both the 52 and 60, I have only mis-hit a few and the rest were fairly on target hitting GIR. I will probably hit more full wedge shots with these Seven wedges given how confident I feel with them now. [FROM THE ROUGH] These wedges performed beautifully thanks to the smooth leading edge and sole that glides through rough without digging and allows the club face to make solid contact with the ball. I hit a couple shots from fescues and deep rough where normally I would at best only be able to layup onto the fairway but both times I was able to make it onto the green to give myself a chance for an up and down. [FROM THE SAND] Bunker shots are probably my weakest part of the game which is why last year I bought the Kasco DW-113 from Stu as sort of a crutch so I can get out of the sand more frequently. The wide sole of the DW-113 prevented digging but once I opened up the Seven it was just as effective. I was a originally a bit tentative when I had to use the Seven in the sand but it was just automatic every time! From the standard explosion shot in fluffy sand to fried egg to digging deep underneath plugged wet sand I did not mis-hit ANY shots and always got out of the bunker everytime. For a guy that has no confidence in the sand this says a lot! [SPIN] My Chikara wedges (non-confirming) were probably the highest spinning wedges I've had until the Seven. Unlike the Chikara that shreds ball covers after a SINGLE hit, the Seven only did minimal scuffs on the ball while still giving me the same spin performance as the Chikaras! [DISTANCE & DISPERSION] I was a bit taken back when both the 52 and 60 carried a few yards short of my Chikara 52/58. I expected it for the weaker loft of the 60 vs 58 but expected similar distances for the 52. Otherwise the dispersion and control were top notch and I was throwing darts all day long. After a few rounds I decided to get my 60 bent to 58 and that's where I found out the 60 was actually playing 61 and my 52 was playing 53.5 which explains why it was playing shorter. After the loft adjustments both seven wedges now carry the distances I'm used to! [OVERALL] This wedge is so good it gave me confidence back into my game where it was lacking before - and having confidence is allowing me to enjoy full wedge shots and bunker shots again (not that I want to go into the sand if I can help it).

Built my 52/56/60 set last night - going to pair them up with PX 6.0 Satin / Royal Blue Ferrules / Black Pure Pro grips. I normally play 52/58 so I'll game the 52/60 and save the 56 for a partial set that I use when travelling. Will provide a full review once I played a round with them!

Chris and Jacques this is an amazing gesture! I'm just finishing up my 2 week trip in Japan (Fuji / Nara / Kyoto / Osaka) and now I will have an amazing prize to finish off my first Japanese Golf experience! I will game these Seven wedges and bring them back to use for my next japan golf trip!!! Congrats to everyone whon won!

FW | RomaRo Alpha 15* 80g low launch shaft HY | A-Grind UT 19* 90g low launch shaft DI | Honma TW-U 21* 90g mid launch shaft FW - shallow face easy to get up, heavier low launch shaft should compliment head nicely HY - this head is compact great off any turf and gets the ball up high quickly. Again heavy low launch shaft if you use this mostly for off the tee or stingers, mid launch if you want even higher ball flight for long approaches DI - long iron replacement with more forgiveness but retains control and feel of irons. Graphite will make it swing more like HY or steel to match your irons. When you're done post pictures!

I should add that I had used these following training aids and listed reasons for abandoning them after Tour Strike Pro 7i - with only the sweet spot exposed, I was forced to stop sweeping and hit down more. However it wrecked my driver swing as well as my swing for longer clubs where sweeping action is preferred. Medicus Dual Hinge Driver - after a couple months of use, the hinges became very loose and would move even when i'm on plane. SwingGyde - I could never attach the device consistently and would sometimes cup my wrists in order to get the training aid to sit properly on my forearm. That awkward feel never really translated to performance on the course

Curious to know if the "speedpocket" will decrease the feel like it did for all those USDM FW with similar technology. I went to JDM because of its solid feel (I have the AGrind UT) and was curious about getting the FW to match until I saw this. Guess I'll pick one up soon to find out!

With the longer blade does it mean the sweet spot is closer to the center than the heel?

Just a full length mirror in the basement and a shortenedd 6-iron (with lead tape added to recover the lost swing weight). Swing the club hundreds of times a day to help me retain the proper feel.

ribbed grip, also called "reminder grip" has an extra spine down the length of the grip to help with alignment. I personally don't use ribbed grips as it is difficult to put on perfectly straight, and if not done right will mess up the feel.

Adams MB2 is perhaps the most forgiving blades I've ever hit, it's soft and has a long blade, but of course it's not JDM.... easily you can find a 4 or 5-PW set for well under $450

My wife just suggested to me she wants to go back to Japan this year again but wanted to see Osaka/Kyoto area this time as we've been to Tokyo/Yohokama area several times already... We're planning to do it this end of May / start of June time frame.... I added a suggestion that maybe we should rent a car from Narita and drive to Osaka, so I could actually try and schedule in a round of golf! This would most likely be the route.... Having seen so many beautiful photos from the "golf course in japan" thread, I was wondering if there are some must play suggestions? I'm thinking of a course near Mt Fuji area, or even in Hakone, but anywhere along the route between Narita and Osaka is game. This might be most likely the only time I'll ever golf in Japan, so I want to make sure it's memorable... One challenge is that my Japanese is virtually non-existent... i get by in the past mainly by looking at the Kanji characters to figure out signs and menu, so I don't think i'd be able to call and book a tee time properly.... I'm looking at golf sites like this to figure out which ones might have english speaking staff to take tee times and if there are online booking even better... how bout this club? http://ashinokocc.com/english/
