Much of the softness comes from the heat treatment used on the metal. It's called the annealing process.

Just snapped a few pics of the shafts going into the Epon ZERO test heads and wanted to post them as they give a better idea of just how pretty these things are. The first 3 images are of the Basileus Fiamma 60 Stiff which is what on paper I would best fit into. 65 grams 3.6tq and designed for a mid/high trajectory for big carry. It also features a special tip section to prevent the slice and square up the clubface. The finish on these are of a very high quality. Foil 3-tone is one of the most expensive finishes you can put on a shaft. In the image below you can see just how detailed and vibrant the colors look. For some reason the lighting makes the chrome look almost gold near sun down. Here is the shaft Tatsuro would fit best the Basileus Z 70 Stiff It's 72 grams, 2.7tq in stiff flex. It's a 50T carbon shaft with a stiff tip to help prevent hooks along with a stiff butt for a stable and consistent feel. Usually tats plays an X but since Japan has noticed the best dispersion & distance gains from high quality S flex from brands like Crazy & Quadra. Compared to Crazy shafts the tip walls are just a hair thicker although noticeably thinner than Tour ADs and other more common shafts. My Fiamma doesn't have the below spiral lines near the tip. I wonder what the function of this is? Hope you enjoyed the pictures, will be testing and reviewing both shafts in the EPON ZERO soon!

Comparable or better than OnOff Forged irons?
TourSpecGolfer replied to Z3RO's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
I'm a big fan of the D-Steels! They are easier to hit than the ONOFF Forged but too bad they are cast and don't feel nearly as good. Two options: - Yamaha D-Forged 2012 - ONOFF Forged 2011 The Yamaha will be slightly larger and more forgiving The ONOFF better more rewarding feel if your a fan of soft. -
The Tour has a bit less offset and a different sole grind that makes it easier to open the face up. The top line is slightly thiner and more rounded and the Tour doesn't have that RAW finish.

Yururi prototype shimadas on eBay...yum!!
TourSpecGolfer replied to swisstrader's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
I asked the owner what these are about. notice the epon ferrules, could be an aftermarket job but I'll get confirmation in a day. It's the same shape and identical to the normal raw blade. -

Yes I think I should of said it like you ant, RC drivers besides the black series are all about the player looking to work the ball. -
Royal Collection VS Tour Driver: Info requested
TourSpecGolfer replied to shacco's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Many other drivers out there I could recommend over this. The Tour VS & even their newer 105 driver left a lot to be desired when we hit them. RC is cool on FW woods, UT, wedges. The Drivers they really never stacked well against the other top brands. -
Most of us have multiple drivers so why not own a high cor. I can only imagine what 30 yards would do to an already uber forgiving driver like the Ryoma.

Interesting pic of the AF-502
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
It's called Alpha Gel. Only endo has figured out how to use it. http://www.taica.co.jp/gel/alpha/index.html You can go 5 floors up and drop an egg on an inch thickness Alpha Gel and it will not break. So Sasaya opened it up an and it's a blue thick liquid. He replaced it with aluminum strips and it felt the same. He hit it empty and it felt very hollow. -

Interesting pic of the AF-502
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Hey C, The 502 has gel correct? I just sent Sasaya an email asking about the color and consistency. I assume it disolved when he stripped the finish off. Without it I bet it feels tinky and hollow. -
This is a cool pic Master Sasaya shot. You guy's saw the sparkled out black/blue AF-502's he did. Yea I know it's all cosmetic except the 2 weights he put on the sole BUT take a look how he slides that stick behind the back cavity. That spacing ad's a lot of forgiveness but hinders feel. That's why some companies fill it with a gel.

Bridgestone J40 430cc vs Vrazy435II
TourSpecGolfer replied to feduher's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Just because it has weights it doesn't mean its adjustable. OEM's use the weights for head weight & bias. -

EGG Spoon....im so late to the party
TourSpecGolfer replied to robbie's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Would love to see the pics. IMO it's worth modding this club up as it stays in the bag for a long time with most people. -
This sucks! I'm sorry guy's!

Your talking about the 15* TRC driving spoon & The 2011 VG3 FW I assume not UT woods. The TRC Spoon is not forgiving and difficult to hit from thin turf, It's designed to be hit off the tee box. The VG3 is on the opposite end easy to get up and with a higher trajectory than the TRC spoon. U looking for a players club or a point and shoot.

cool is that the hal sutton model? -
Yes and sorry but our choices are limited as youtube will ban the video in certain countries based on the music rights. Sorry we are just testing Basileus shaft's that would fit myself or tatsuro. Dia X didn't fit either of us well.
