  1. Yea they can get it pretty low 8.5 +/- .5 would make it a pure 8. That will be a low trajectory driver my man!
  2. Hi Corky, Your looking at top clubs imo, TS703 is not designed for the same level of player that this AF-102 is. The AF-151 would compare better to the TS-703. In regards to Yamaha what model you thinking of? Also look at the PRGR drivers as well. TS, PRGR, Yamaha will feature a bit more cutting edge tech while the Epon will have a more conservative approach to the design but be extremely well balanced. Im almost certain they are all made at Endo except the TS-703.
  3. I have not compared the two myself yet but just check out the Nike Video, top PGA players are saying that its about half the RPM's than the previous grooves. Also to put things in perspective a wedge with ZERO grooves produces a similar amount of spin in perfect conditions to one with grooves for the average player. But with a single spray of water the spin is almost all gone. When I say perfect conditions I mean Zero water or condensation. DonDon I can only guess your LM testing was done indoors? If so that explains your spin rates, try the same test on the grass where there is natual humidity in it. Another thing to note is that top players usually hit down very hard on the ball and produce lots of spin vs the average player or even club pro for that matter.
  4. Our Tester is a 10.5 with Tour AD DI-6 Stiff flex at 44.5", I have not had the chance to hit it yet. I am most interested in the feel but it may be too much driver for me, The AF151 is more of a fit to my performance level than this one. I guess I will have to wait to hit it and see.
  5. Yup idrive is spot on. 910's will be less forgiving and more compact with less offset. The 502's are a great blend that gives you forgiveness & a semi compact presence.
  6. Noooo, these are Plated Gold, Ping uses Plated gold also like a finish. No one does SOLID GOLD.
  7. Epon AF-102 Driver! Made of Precision Forged Titanium and targeted for the low handicap better player. Epon is set to release its new AF-102 driver in Early March. Produced with a thinner and lighter crown piece for the lowest CG position ever the AF-102 promotes a mid trajectory ball flight by using a mix of a very deep face and super low CG point. Epon is saying this new AF-102 will produce Persimmon like ultra soft feel by head deflection and tapered face thickness. Available in 8.5, 9.5 and 10.5 lofts this 460cc head has a standard 198 gram head with the ability to custom order -3g to +10 grams. The stock shaft is the Tour AD DI-6 or DI-7 playing at D2.5 - D2 @ a shaft length of 45.25".
  8. Just those two as far as I know, also keep in mind guy's that just because it's 80T doesn't mean it will work better than a 30T shaft because most important is the shaft still must fit the player.
  9. Sorry pal I stand corrected Fujikura's Bangvoo only goes as high as 70T. Just think Honma's 5 Star shafts are only 50T and cost thousands!
  10. Wishon Is mostly Taiwan & China. Almost no one does forged clubs in the USA.
  11. Yea the X-Forged was done by Endo, KZG for the most part is done by Kyoei. The former president of Kyoei quit and owns Vega and Distributes Matrix & KZG in Japan. Another thing that irks me is clone golf clubs. They turn the taylormade burner into the Turner, Cobra becomes snake bite, R7 becomes Ti7, its another form of fake clubs IMO.
  12. 20 pcs all 24k plated each one costing about 3k. These are gifts for Chinese military generals!!!!
  13. Matrix Shafts is about to release several new offerings that were highlighted at the 2010 PGA Golf show in Orlando Florida. Matrix Ozik Radix Radix- Latin for "root" or "base" is built over the HD mandrel so it will have a technology story under the $150 price point. Will have weight classes from high 40g to high 70g. Also available in a Tour model that will be under $250. Will be available March 1st. Matrix Ozik Phi Phi - Greek term for mathematical equation to Golden Section or Golden Ratio. Tour level irons for the better player. Will from a spec perspective give a better player better numbers than a steel shaft. Will be available in March. Matrix Ozik Reign Reign - Will be a Dealer Only line. First off will have M2 design over an HD Mandrel. It will also have heat sensitive paint, which was a big hit at PGA Show, as it turned from a light blue to white at 86*F. Also in the line will be a little softer TPHD also built under Golden Ratio from above. The TPHD in this line will have a Photo sensitive paint to help it change colors in the sunlight. checkout the GTI blog I added some opinion at the bottom.
  14. Master Sasaya can put new grooves on your wedges for you then refinish.
  15. Same here no plans to switch to conforming grooves until non conforming wedges are no longer produced. I don't play any USGA events and the pro's are saying 50% reduction in spin on the Nike Groove Video. The good in all of this is the lack of spin will force players to learn different shots to make up for the difference.
  16. I think they sorta overlap, The burner forged which I have hit is a great iron, soft and forgiving with just a little offset. I would play it, The R9 Forged is also forgiving not a players CB like the Burner TP or R9TP Forged but in between and both irons share similar attributes and player levels just in two different ways about it. Thanks just my opinion I have yet to see the R9 Forged in person. In Japan top pro's often use the more forgiving club, you will see many of the women using the R9 Forged, some men as well.
  17. This year should be the best coverage we have ever had.
  18. Hi Kent, The clubs you play now are much larger and more game improvement than the Japanese clubs you have listed. You are looking at the right clubs. TS 703 is a bit more advanced than your playing level but its a great set to grow into. I would suggest those and the 502's by Epon. TM Burner Forged is another great option. Difficult to rank as they are all great clubs, go with the one that gives you the most confidence.
  19. R9 Forged Irons Taylormade Japan has some new releases prepared for announcement at the 2010 Tokyo Golf Show Including one we have all been waiting for the R9 Forged Irons. There are two new R9 labelled irons coming to the Japan market both are forged. Most people were expecting only one forged model but Taylormade Japan has stepped it up offering another model that we consider more user friendly for the player yet not game improvemnt by any means The standard R9 Forged Iron is made using a cast steel body with a soft forged mild S25C face and features an undercut cavity to increase forgiveness. The R9 Forged standard model features #3 thru #7 irons with a two piece construction while #8 to PW uses one piece forged construction. The target player for the standard R9 Forged model is still the mid- low handicap player as Tour Pro's in Japan do intend to put this set into play. Several JLPGA women will be putting it into play within the next few events in Japan. The R9 Forged TP is the model we have all been waiting for, it's a limited edition release that is set to launch in March. TourSpecGolf has a couple of demo irons on the way and will be posting images and video live from the 2010 Tokyo Golf Show only a few weeks away. The R9 Forged TP was designed with the help of Nick Faldo and other top Japanese golf pro's. It is supposed to become Taylormades flagship professional use iron on the JPGA tour. No word if it will ever see the U.S shores but for those interested TourSpecGolf will have them available for Pre Order very soon!
  20. Hi Randy, Thank you for posting the pics and your review. I also appreciate the kind words about TSG's customer service! PRGR has me impressed big time this year. TR 500 limited irons & the entire EGG series speaks volumes about their R&D and confidence to introduce new technology into the golf arena. The GN502 Tour is another driver I am considering but I have a feeling this Egg driver would be better for my score.
  21. The avatar and signature is from my magpul dynamics videos. Just because its a step or two less doesnt mean a difference in price on the msrp level imo. Care is vital with raw irons, salt and water kills so does humidity, baby oil or WD40 should do the job, a quick groove cleaning, wipe down, and spray of oil after each round should keep them purdy a long time.
  22. There is Vega which is made by Kyoei, your KZG's which were made by Kyoei, Yururi which too area made by Kyoei, Gold's Factroy can do it and pretty much any custom tailored club brand can do it per request. It's cheaper for them to not have to a plating on the club, they actually get to skip 2 of the last steps in production. The feel is good and soft but I can't really say better or softer. I used to think in the past that RAW = softest possible but found that hasnt always been the case. Depending on where you live or how you take care of your clubs will make a big difference in how long they last.
  23. Thats a great way to make a guesstimate sounds pretty close to spot on. I usually suggest a softer flex shaft and learning to work with it, you may off the start see a wider dispersion but after you dail it in I think you will get some distance back. 113mph is X flex but it being a stable 80 ton shaft I think you can get away with SX. Just my 2 cents not sure how others feel about this logic.
  24. It makes the CPM's higher. In the U.S we use 5" in most cases.
