Yup the TB proto's were cast, 14 states the forged product is softer, I beg to differe, I have the 770 forged and TC-770's both with 1050 stiff shafts and imo the TC is softer and dings a little easier. We do have a couple demo clubs for interested buyers, and of course we offer all custom shaft options on these and will beat any sellers price, not match, beat! Im most impressed by their woods this year. big update that puts them in the top tier of the wood game, their new UT-106 is dumb easy to hit and very rewarding at impact.

You could be right, they are stated as mild steel. it dont say Carbon anywhere or the words forged. Are you familiar with the feel of honma castings? quite similar to 14, very soft in some cases softer than forged. I will give them a ring on monday and get the skinny on this. your pal may be on to somthing.

New X-Drive Characteristics at Inpakuto.com
TourSpecGolfer replied to gocchin's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
It was also imo the face progression, face angle, and internal weight bias as well. The proto tour ad shaft looks pretty neutral in specs besides the fact that its an X :tsg_smilie_wah: -
the P series is for those who have bad shots to the left, my prediction is it will be a fade machine. Im going for the 460 normal spec. Thanks, Chris
-
Those pics look amazing! The X-Drive has a tad more spin than most drivers and is supposed to play very near to actual loft. The CG isnt as low as many and face progression is less in the P models. Your looking at a pro model driver with moderate low spin that should be easy to work with its square and the P slightly open face angles.

Inpakuto: Live Pics of new X-Drive 2007
TourSpecGolfer replied to gocchin's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
My take is a bit different, perhaps because you guys are all at that pro level :tsg_smilie_wink: I have never found an X-Drive that gave me the results i desired, the 435 was the closest thing, before then the Non maruspec 370cc MR-23 U.S spec 3rd generation did it. There was always some sort of user friendly or fade inducing feature that turned me off. I so look forward to the 460, i just hope she makes me happy. -

Tourstage 2007 ViQ DEEP Driver & Forged Irons
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
i dont want to say a word until the honeymoon is over, if i did i could be eating my words next month. Today i have 9 holes of free time to get them out and in play. Im taking the type X 5 iron, Type J 5 iron, and ViQ 5 iron along with both drivers and the rest of the viq forged set. oh yeah and the fourteen UT-106 hybrid for the first time today with its stock stiff shaft. -
i dont think so, only fourteen and old honma is in the softer than forged camp. if you were to ask a person who only knows U.S domestic equipment the answer would be different. this is imo a refreshing change.

Tourstage 2007 ViQ DEEP Driver & Forged Irons
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
im not so sure to be honest, these look like they have less offset but a wider sole. they would have to be side by side to figure that out unless someone with the old version has a digital caliper so we could compare. -
any news/info on 2006 mr-23 wedges?
TourSpecGolfer replied to Goshinboku's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
didnt they release his 2006 X-wedge already? then the X-Wedge limited? im guessing his maru's will be built based off the new design X-wedge if it follows the past trend. in Japan his back is different than the usa, he is using XCB2's and 430P driver. Thanks, Chris -
Tourstage 2007 ViQ DEEP Driver & Forged Irons
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
How long is the honeymoon period again? Was it 40 days? :tsg_smiley_laughatyou: I was hitting the DEEP last week with the stock SR flex shaft and producing little draws down the center. very very nice driver and it still has that turbo rubber feel to it. I checked the face angle and it was about .25 closed, the actual loft was 10.8 on my actual club. im not going to start tinkering with it until she treats me bad, then its bye bye stock shaft hello Drev proto. Now I really cant wait to hit the MX version. The irons are getting weaker lofts, NS1150's, and MOI matched to my Type J 6 iron. The new ViQ series should be a much better match for my game than the new X-Drive product coming soon. -
I agree they are soft, Fourteens castings are actually softer than their forgings . the TC-770 your pal has was designed for the mid handicap player, it is made of AM-355 steel which is said to be softer than forged carbon. I have hit both side by side, the TC-770 is softer than the 770 forged by a tad.

Madz decided to give the Epon 460 9.5 with Ozik Code 6 Firm flex a try. Lets all hope it goes well for him!

I have too many clubs to hit right now and I am looking for helpers to test with me. In regards to the JC-606, When the center of gravity is too high you produce too much spin which results in distance loss. when the CG is too low you lose spin and get a wide shot dispersion which results in short and inconsistent results. For Max distance and accuracy the CG position is critical, the JC-606 has achived the ideal CG location using 3 piece titanium construction. An ultra thin 0.5mm 15-3-3-3 ti crown for CG balance, a laser welded 3.1mm face for impact perfection and a high strength 6-4 ti body for the highest quality around in a driver. so yes its gorgeous and functional. Their goal is balance, if your swing is tuned producing 2100rpm with this driver is not a problem and fourteens goal in the first place. Head Size: 430cc CG height: 20mm CG Length: 40mm CG Depth: 34mm MOI: 4000g cm2

Epon type X and Royal Collection S.F. I. Forged
TourSpecGolfer replied to Duffer19's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
oh yeah i almost left out one of the biggest factors, the finish. the endo has the NiCr20 finish that makes them ooooh so sweet at impact. -

They are both the same. After ENDO created the design the feedback was amazing so they added it to their line up. -

Another look at G-Field's G-Tour Bag
TourSpecGolfer replied to gocchin's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
yes they have. I just got word, new bags are coming out in 07 from G-Field made by a different manufacture. -
you really need to post pics to get serious help.

Fourteen has really got their act together, their cream color putter grips, their head covers made by ComoCome!, shaft labels and just the quality of finish and feel. They sent me a demo 7 of the 770 forged and 7 iron TB-1000, compact heads for sure but oh so soft at impact. they are short heel to toe but on the range I found the blade to be very forgiving for is tiny apperance. Enter the Neo Blade. Im most excited to get out and hit the SF206, UT-106 and JC606 this weekend. I will let you guys know how it goes. They are drying right now as I installed Tour Concepts into the 770 Forged.
-
Sorry to say but not much at all. Those were copied by Gayvid Whitlam so the real Gauge Japan had to fire the original manufacture and create the new GFT series. Its unfortunate he makes his living this way and thats why you will never see GD USA stuff on TSG. Too shady imo.
