Where are the Japan Only clubs on the U.S Tour? Where are the U.S Only clubs on the Japan Tour? Product lines stick to their own respective countries. Do you think Jim Furyk was given a W505 to test against his W506? I don't think Paula Creamer enjoys putting Tourstage balls in precept sleeves. Do you think V.J liked the Cleveland launcher head cover so much he put it over his old R7? Do you think Fred Couples was given Tourstage clubs to sample? I don't think Billy Andrade was offered custom mizunos or the UX2 etc. The player wants to win and please the sponsor and the sponsor wants to maximize their return on the investment of the sponsorship. Thats not possible with the player promoting unavailable products. Fact is you gents know more about Import gear than the pro does in most cases. No one is handing them import gear for free to test, why would they? and for sure they are not gonna pay for a golf club. The players agent would never let it get to them if its not going to make them a cent. There is even a bias from OEMs when their sponsored players don't use a shaft they approve of. For example I know more than a few players that have been urged away from particular shafts simply because the OEM has an allegiance with another shaft co, even if the shaft is obviously producing better results for the player. It simply creates no buzz or profit having a player use equipment that will never become available.

Whats the story behind this GD putter?
TourSpecGolfer replied to JGalls's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
The Terra will treat you well for sure, but im sorry this head shape is not available and will not be for as long as I can tell. -
In Distance they are equals In Forgiveness they are equals In Feel i give the edge to the Original NC-1 being that the G-Field version feels a rad more firm and I like soft. In Workability to the G-Field NC-1 easier to work and manipulate ball flight. Design I give to the G-Field as well. There are no really huge differences, if you got along with one you will love the other.

All testing is complete, just trying to get some free time to write things in properly. By monday results should be posted. I knew my winner before the competition started, I just wanted to see what the other players get out of hitting them. As far as Hiro Irons go I didn't include them because its several years old. killer design, firm not soft feel and very compact shape. MP60 custom vs MP60 retail: The double Nickel finish makes impact noticeably more pure and rewarding. Other than that they are the same unless you put a grind on them like mine. NC-1s are for sure more forgiving than MP60, feel is more firm and mis**ts not as harsh. As for shaft changing, its already done, I have hit all these irons in NS1150's, S200s, and NS950's many many times. I'm not going to reshaft each one for the testers, these guys have never used anything but stock in their life so its a waste of time and money. I will fill you in on shaft differences a bit later as I mentioned my conclusion was settled quite a while ago. :tsg_smilie_whistle:

This driver is foamed, so those expecting a TM or Cally feel need not apply. Think J340, RX-1 etc.. Its dead/mute sound and feel is extrodinary for me. Distance i rate average on this club but forgiveness well above normal.

This is the Hoshino prototype. Only 2 made and of GSS at that. I sold it for 2700 about three years ago. -
Best used golf equpt shopping Tokyo?
TourSpecGolfer replied to daamartin's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
The used golf shops in Japan are expensive, The B/S/T and ebay are both cheaper. Take a look at Victoria Golf Shinjuku, you only need to go to one store, after that your going to see just about the same stuff everywhere. As for places to see I suggest Asakusa, Ikebukuro, Ueno, and Roppongi Hills. -
Should be sometime in May, They are now structuring the corporation and establishing a headquarters among a million other things. Gauge Japan has always had Knife, Swirl and flat face milling marks. Before you buy your next GDJ putter match it with your course conditions and stroke. Flat Mill is for pro speed green sensitivity and a sound putting stroke, the norm in Japan. Perhaps you should have played the SM490A with Knife marks back then instead as I assume you like the softer feel and don't keep the sole of your putter close enough to the ground during your stroke. To get the best roll with the flat milled putter faces try putting quarters on a smooth flat floor for practice. That said you are correct and no face design on the market can come close to the Original 3RTNC and the new Premium 303 insert.

Thanks for your support, Some people just dont believe it, It has always been my understanding that George Takei owned Pacific Golf Supply and that DW was an employee, George covered all expenses and had DW get certain clubs manufactured in the USA, which were shipped to Japan and sold by Gauge Design Japan (GDJ). Somewhere in the shuffle, DW let PGS' corporate status to be suspended and attempted to have trademarks transferred. he also started claiming he founded Gauge. After GDJ filed the lawsuit against DW just recently, he took down the open letter off his website and his attorney is now discussing settlement with GDJ. DW apparently has some IRS tax liens against him and does not have money. Gauge Design will be one brand again soon!

The forged L is a putter made for people with some arc in their putting stroke. There is 10 pieces being made of a Pro Division model with 4 mini ingots on the face, different color fill and grip scheme, and Pro Division engraved on the sole. I will try to get a couple for the regulars and post pics.

Absolutely, . A 500pc run of putters by David was made and the aluinsers and weight were extremely bad and D.W wouldn't fix or reimburse the error. GD Japan found a new Japanese manufacture who got the aluinsers flush even to the touch and that is what you now know as the original Gauge Design Japan. D.W illegally took the Pacific Golf Supply investment and registered the company in the U.S as the owner when he owned 0%. He then registered Gauge Design under PGS which Hirota was set to be the U.S president as he owned half of PGS with GD japan. GD Japan owns all of PGS now. Anyway to make a long story short, they should be going to court anytime now. Do a search on the topic for more info.

Test dates have been switched around due to poor weather. The 900MDs were tested on tuesday with only two participants. Tester #1 Name: Giovanni Age: 27 Occupation: PGA apprentice in Italy Handicap: 4 Swing Speed: 112mph tested on the Accuvector Good Shot: Straight Shot Bad Shot: Duck Hook Current Setup: Titleist 983K w/UST pro force X Taylormade V-Steel w/UST pro force X Mizuno MP33 w/X100 Mizuno MP wedges with S200 Taylormade ASGI Corza putter We had the player hit balls with the PRGR Irons for 10 min before his first 9 holes. The conditions were wet and soggy, yet Giovanni made great contact. Gio felt he was getting a much higher ball flight with a full club up on distance. Some of his bad shots were hit fat IMO due to damp turf. Warmed up I followed them as they went off the front. I recall Gio hitting almost a dozen solid iron shots long, Great shots just needs to be dailed in, he was getting excited I could tell. can we attribute that to his MP33 lofts being worn and old? I dont know, but he still insisted that his MP33s felt softer, which makes sense because the more meat you have down at the muscle area the more pure the vibration will zing through the head up the shaft and into your hands. I asked his thoughts on forgiveness and he said "molto benne" very good! Not the best tester as far as club ho's go but none the less an expeienced player who sets the bar high with Mizunos and is liking the Endo forged PRGRs. After the turn he recieved a few swing tips from his boss and teaching pro, they worked at keeping the lower body more quiet during the takeaway and head placement at impact, Gio started hitting the ball more consistantly as we went off the back 9. He was already getting groved into them and eventually ended up asking how much he can get a set for even before he tested the other 3 irons in coming weeks. :tsg_smilie_money3: Tester #2 Name: Franchesco Age: 37 Occupation: Artist Handicap: 11 Swing Speed: 97mph on the Accuvector Good Shot: Power Fade Bad Shot: Slice and Pull Current Setup: Cleveland Launcher 460 w/stock stiff Callaway VFT w/stock stiff Adams GT w/stock stiff Cleveland TA7 Tour w/ S200 Titleist Vokey Wedges Scotty Cameron putter I felt sorry for Francesco, he just couldnt hit these irons, at the range and during the entire 18 holes he played it was a nightmare, he has a sweeper slider swing and barely makes a divot yet it either wasnt his day or those irons didnt agree with him. Hitting many shots thin and all over the face of course his comments were they felt harsh at impact and not forgiving at all. If I didnt know the guy I would have figured him as a 20hcp. On a scale of 1-10 he said he would give them a 2....maybe. (My Take) I have hit these irons many times over the last 2 months in different shaft configurations in hard conditions and soft. Are they for me......nope, unfortunatly not. The feel was pure and old tourstage soft when hit square, but I must complain that when hit out closer to the toe, the feel was indeed harsh. The 900MD reminds me of the Mizuno MP30 in regards to performance. Nothing forgiving and nothing as rewarding as a blade, so its stuck in limbo between the two. But I must add that when I was testing in the firm turf condition courses in Japan, these irons perfectly clipped the ball off the ground. They would be optimal for blade players. NC1 - Mizuno - PRGR - Tourstage

It is because Mamiya is the parent company of UST who launched the Accra line last year. Its not the same technology.

They are all sweet iron sets, Most of you have already seen the MP and MX line. I would like to mention that the JPX Series has thin top lines and the most noticeable difference is it offset. Just as the S30 power blade and other old school Mizuno premium cbs had in the past. The MP line is a complete forged head with no inserts or advanced technology besides its beautiful design. Less forgiving compared to MX and JPX yet a more rewarding feel when strike pure are its two biggest attributes.

The theory of oversized woods carries on into the FW as PRGR releases its M3 Hit. The Ultra low C.O.G helps get the ball up as if the face were shallow yet it isnt, Its actually a good sized profile. The large profile makes it very easy to hit long and straight.

Awesome Set, Awesome Price! He paid quite a bit more for these and they are brand new!
