Here are pics of the new GAF1 Gauge Japan fairway woods. Its got the sole of a V-Steel, rear cut away like the FST, miraging face of an Olimar, and profile of the BBD type H. I first put pics up after the golf fair in Tokyo early this year and its design and performance features have now been meshed successfully. I have hit 3 different versions of GAF1 and Its been refined and course tested then stress tested and finally tested to make sure it performed noticeably better than the BBD Type H... and now it DOES! The GAF1 I had last month did not perform like the production spec model just released, It is flat out a killer and whats even more crazy is their will be 100 Tour Spec ( Japanese Market ) and yes Tour Spec as in TSG with a Custom killed leading edge grind done by the owner himself :surprize: After a year in the making these second generation FW's are ready and the Tour Specs are available with the finest shaft options. Take a look at the grind pics. please note that the grinded head has not been re painted yet. notice the killed leading edge on the left Its really got a weird effect on the club visually, the grinded head makes it feel as you can see less of the face with your eyes almost like its lower in loft or delofted. The retail version may be better for you but I would highly suggest the custom grind for people with steeper swings or who's course has harder turf conditions. Its a FW for the better player yet not that demanding. Price ? :-D Shaft Options? Head Only 250.00 Head & Shaft Z-COM HK PRO-80 (85g 3.5t) 399.00 Z-COM HK PRO-95 (93g 3.0t) 399.00 Z-COM TW-84 (86g 2.1t) 420.00 Z-COM TW-74 (75g 2.9t) 399.00 Z-COM MW-74 (76g 2.6t) 420.00 Graphite Design M85 450.00 Other shaft options available...

2005 Gauge Prototype Stand and Staff Bags. There are 9 different proto bags only 4 were in the factory but this is about what they should look like give or take a few things when they do come out in January. TUBU Prototype, IMO opinion it looks like ass but after hitting it, I now know why it would be hard to not make this thing production. inside there is a tungsten & Nikel weight positioned to raise the MOI over the norm. Kazu Pro's Tour (Tour Zero) Special Finish GAS1. The current GAS1 is heat treated, the steel put in very hot temperatures then dipped in water very much like a fine katana. The silverish finish GAS1 will be released next week, It rusts and feels very soft. The black heat treated GAS1 feels on the hard side similar to a vokey. Eldik Caps New Eldik Tour Blue has some slight modifications in design like no steps behind the face and new face profile.

Hit a ton of new clubs today!
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Thats strange, I looked at the W403 and its not available in Japan and they jipped out on some of the technology. I wonder if they will release an I-403 for the U.S? I wonder if the 404 will come to America? -

In my opinion and for my game they are, I think you bought the Low bounce 01 model from me and It could be the 01 model thats not proper for me but the 58 was not getting me out of bunkers and the Gap wedge was not as forgiving as the mizzy's. Its my swing and short game, the results will differ for everyone I'm sure. -

I put some net pics in another thread today, I dont know when the U.S release will be, Im sure it will be almost half the price :smile1: -
My Mizuno MP customs are back in the bag. I liked the roundness of the leading edge and bounce design on the 58. The leading edge on the X-Wedge was digging into bunkers instead of letting me slap the bounce in to the sand. In regards to the new Mizuno T series and N2's I will have to wait till I can get custom wedges in October.

was able to play a round today with the golf 5 rep from Atsugi, Japan and he brought some sweet goodies because he knows how i love the new stuff. Here is my take on some hot clubs coming out. Id first like to say my game was ON today and I was hitting everything like a champ. Mizuno UX1 Driving Iron What can I say, it feels like a mizuno, I was hitting this club very well but find it not as forgiving as the TM driving Irons. The new UX1 has a tungsten bar inside of a hollow cavity. I tried the 18* with an NS pro Stiff shaft and it felt more crisp than my Tm's but not as long and the S300 on the TM just makes the perfect ball flight for me. The mizuno is made of SUS630, Its a two piece design cavity + face. Good club just wish it came in S300. Mizuno MP-32 These new Irons are nothing compared to the 33's and 37's, I was very disappointed with its performance, I was expecting more forgiving higher ball flight. I did notice a higher ball flight but mis hits high on the face and toe were shaking fillings out of my teeth. Only decent when hit low on the face and I would rate them very poor when hit high on the face. Mizuno T-Series Wedges Black NI finish just tooo awesome, its got a thinner flatter sole, I really loved the 53-08 it just clips the ball off the grass, the hitting area was almost as large as my MP custom wedges. This will probably be my next wedge. I am a die hard believer of Mizuno wedges now. Mizuno MP series N2 wedge If you like vokey's harder click, I suggest the N2 wedge by Mizuno, its made of SS304N2 and features a more traditional shape over round. They are more expensive but have the head shape and design that makes mizuno wedges so darn good. Srixon W404 w/W60 TIP 9 Version bye bye R7, This club is longer more forgiving and feels better than my R7 retail with the same shaft. It is 400cc and sets up smaller than the R7. I hope srixon brings it to the U.S because it will be cheap and all of you will get to try it. I am starting to want a Srixon bag :) This driver is AWESOME! its face is deep but has a very cool shape. Just picture the R7 deep but slightly longer heel to toe. Their is a weighting bias 8.5 is neutral, 9.5 slight draw bias and 10.5 normal draw bias. TIP 9 version means it was tipped 1/4" inch I think :-D but what ever it was it worked perfect. Srixon I-404 Irons Its basically the I-302 with a slightly deeper face in the toe area and shorter heel to toe & higher C.O.G . These Irons performed very well and I highly suggest them to anyone looking for a Players CB or GI players CB or whatever we call it now days. From what I was told the C.O.G is higher than the I-302, I haven't hit the 302s for a long time but by the looks of it and the ball flight for me it was were perfecto! S300's or NS 1050's half inch long and it could make it into the bag. PRGR type 405 Talk about a closed face, the 10.5 is the lowest loft and it was 2* shut :surprize: I decided to give it a try and its long, forgiving with a whippy shaft, can you say pull hook. Taylormade R5 Dual Type N It had the stock shaft in stiff in it but performed very well, it is an R7 but a tad longer heel to toe and rounder. I hit it off the toe and heel then the same with my R7 and the R5 overall is an R7 just more forgiving and not adjustable. Distance is the same and feel is the same except with no crunch. Taylormade R5 Dual Fairway Wood I think it was poop but my playing partner was killing it longer and straighter than his V-Steel Tour. The sole looks too busy and the face is a little long heel to toe for my liking. TM usually makes awesome clubs so I trust that this will be a success also. Too bad its ugly :spit:

Golf Classic Mag - Japanese Amateur ???
TourSpecGolfer replied to Ballz's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
If you guys have any scan requests let me know, I have subscriptions to all the magazines. The new golf classic is out this week also. Its very cool to see what the Japan amatuers are playing because they have no conracts and it all boils down to performance. From what I count here are the most used brands for the ammys. Driver: 1st: Srixon W404 2nd: Titleist 983k 3rd: X-Drive 390 Fairway Woods: 1st: Tourstage FST 2nd: Mizuno MP001 3rd: BBD type H Irons: 1st: Mizuno MP-33 2nd: X-Blade CB's 3rd:Srixon I-201 Wedges: 1st: Gauge GAS1 2nd: Titleist Vokey 3rd: MOZ Putter: 1st: Odessy 2nd: Gauge Japan 3rd: Bettinardi Let me know what scans you guys want, I suggest Golf Style over golf classic any day. -
Same thing just high C.O.R.

Titty CBS41 is one of the best stand bags I have ever seen. There are actually 3 that stand out for me, this is just based on looks: - Oakley O Bag - Titleist CBS41 - PRGR Carry - Tourstage Carry Problem with the Majority of these is the shipping from Japan... :D
-
Oh Sweet putter, It looks totally tricked out, your weight looks great I think its the only high M.O.I futura weight on the market and best looking at that. Perfect work as usual Joey and congrats to lightrider for another fantastic putter to add to his collection.

Want to buy some custom blades....Need some suggestions...
TourSpecGolfer replied to evrst31's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Scratch forgings are from Himeji, steel is purchased from Sumitomo as most forgings from Himeji are. Ishihara is a persons name who works from his home hand grinding the MOZ wedges. -

TourSpecGolfer replied to evrst31's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
What did you want custom about them? I suggest: - Mizuno 33 or 37's - Fourteen TB-1000 - Gauge Designs MB's - Srixon Pro-100's - Royal Collection MB -
Hmm good question, It must be the many days my swing was off and the MR-23's punished me. I am borderline double digit now and I think the MR-23s are a little too Player for my game. I'm sure a few others have been delt a reality check by the 23's.. :punch: well maybe we can give it a name guys, GI-Cb? Mid players cavity? or ??? I don't know what to call it, all I do know is a lot of this is personal opinion. I personally think game improvement irons are like X-16, BB2002, XXIO, Cobra SS-I, G2's, and titty 804's.

I hope no one flames you  I consider MP-27s and GD Irons players Cb's. To me a player is not only a better player but also someone who prefers players clubs, the same guy who buys a stiff flex 9.5 when he should be hitting a 10 in reg. I consider myself a player  Your right they are slightly over sized but does that mean we need to create a new category for them? I don't think the difference is that much. How about the Hiro Matsumoto Irons, they have less offset then some blades also blade like top line yet have a bigger cavity than the MR-23's. This could also bring up, are the PRGR 900 Irons really blades? If you define the word cavity I don't think they are. Is the difference somewhere between the MP30 and MP27, I have a set of each, I think they are both players Cb's, just not as player as the MR23's. The Gd's on the other hand are a bit bigger than the MP27's, but IMHO the " Players " club thing is overrated, especially in the U.S. What I have noticed in Japan is that Japanese with the same SS as an American will use almost one flex less. Its our Ego  Do you think the GD protos look player or game improvement? Because they are advertised as Players CB and there is another proto CB that is advertised GI. Here are pics of the proto CB next to the GD proto blade. I think by your definition it would be a GI :-D Am I right?

http://www.tourspecgolf.com/catalog/produc...products_id=169 I love the MP-27s and I'm hooked on how accurate these are. Mine are shafted with NS Pro 1050 shafts, the ball flight and trajectory have added a new dimension to my game, I am now very able to play very windy days with an advantage against my playing partners. Strong lofts + NS 1050 = Penetrating!! :surprize: Mizunos have a different feel, not as soft as Endo forged Irons IMO but a distinct harder " clip " or " click " at impact. It took me a week or two to get used to them but now I'm hitting them almost as good as I hit my Gd's. I will be sticking with these Irons for a while

Phil's PM702 vs Retail PM702 by graphite design
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
It was terrible for me, I had the 2.2 torque spec which was very butt stiff un like the W70. My guess is that the U.S version is a W70 copy and the PM702 that Philly M uses is different. -
Phil's PM702 vs Retail PM702 by graphite design
TourSpecGolfer posted a topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Here is a pic of the retail version new graphite design U.S PM702. I used to own the Tour 702 exactly the same as P.M's but the torque was stated at 2.2. Here is the exert text from the site: the U.S PM702 has the same specs as the W70 in Japan. bummer they would advertise its the same shaft as Phil's. -
Nike Japan Copper Wedges...any feedback?
TourSpecGolfer replied to bjp1's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
The nike wedges dont look the same in person, it is a very shinny finish similar to mizuno's black ox with a copper tone. It wasnt very soft, just average and it began to wear very quick. Good wedge if you like the original nike shape, for me it didnt sit on the ground flat and that drives me crazy.
