shoe295 replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearAndy...Nice iron choice, I really like those 37's..enjoy them.. on a side note I was at a demo day last Saturday and the Mizuno guy told me they were gonna be quitting the 37 line soon..course the guy is one of those who makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up and my nervous system developes a tendency to fire at random when he's around. I'm not sure if he's ever told me the truth or if I just don't trust him as he told me they were all sold out of MP 32's for the year???!!! Didn't ask what he meant by that because I can't be polite to him for what ever reason. I'll write a better report on the demo day when I get more time...it was quite an eye opening experience...all I'll say for now is ..Ping G2 and Tour Edge Exotics really really are impressive...

shoe295 replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearPlayed Sunday in a scramble...Temp at the start was 34* with the wind out of the NNW at 28mph gusting to 40mph..the worst and I mean absolutely without a doubt there is no comparison WORST conditions I've ever played in...it was blowing so hard two balls fell off the tee before they could be hit...reminded me of sitting in front of my first wife when she was on a tirade :surprize: :blackeye: ...you know the scene in the cartoons when the guys hair goes straight back...even the tears froze before they could hit your face..Surprisingly there were 92 other guys who showed up..not all of them finished but they were there at the start...one of the guys I played with hit one downwind 367yds...which was really amazing cuz it was really hard to get anything up into the breeze...I think my daddy parts are permanently lodged in my chest cavity due to the frigid conditions :surprize: ....felt like I'd had a sex change operation due to the major suckage... ...the wind blew a putt in that I'd hit on the downhill side..simply amazing stuff... Went to a large demo day Saturday....that was truly a hoot considering it was about 45* with 25mph winds..gotta run now but I'll post more about that later...

shoe295 replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearPlayed a quick 9 last Monday as the temp hit 81*..in April..in Wisconsin  ....41 with 3 3 putts..the fun part was the 2 wild turkeys that crossed the 6th fairway behind me and the Canadian Goose nesting in a tree ( if you've never seen a duck or goose land in a tree I highly recommend it for entertainment value)... Tuesday turned out to be 82* so I played 18...have to report that after a very interesting 77 I think the Tour Concept shafts are the best golf purchase I have ever made! Even hitting the ball with my usual low wind fighting trajectory ( wind was 18-25mph) I was stopping balls on the green which never happened with the Hogan shafts! After Mr.Kwok's work the irons hit so so smooth I can't even describe. I guess the best testimony I can provide is that I will have him work on any set of irons I use. Decided on a Fuji ZcomTW 74 for my 4 wood...may even have it for the scramble I'm playing in Sunday ( when the weather is to be a more Wisconsin in April like 50*) Have a great weekend guys...Mike..may the mud dry out enough for you to play without winding up with ruined shoes...

shoe295 replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearYou guys realize it's only APRIL right? And the middle of April at that? I'm playing for the first time all year today so who cares what I shoot...I'm with Mike...trade locations..play instead of fight the weather... It appears Deane Beman on to something when they say technology is making the game too easy  ..look how easy it's been for ya'all ... sheesh ... so I'm putting all kinds of techno marvels in my bag this year just so I can make every older course I play scream "no mas" after I get through with it...got latest shafts in my newly blueprinted irons, putting a new shaft in my Japanese 4 wood, gonna get the lastest greatest driver head and stick a shaft like Tiger's in it then cruise on over to Whistling Straits and set the course record...  :money: :blackeye: ....does Mr Beman realize how stupid he sounds and how ridiculous his statements are to the regular hacks like us? I don't get, just do not get it...just because Hogan had to hit a 1 iron on the 18th at Merion and guys today get to hit 8 iron who the crap cares...Merion would chew me up, spit me out, and I'd still love it...the only time I resemble Tiger Woods when he hits a tee shot like he did on No. 2 at Augusta, 6 inches behind the ball and about 75yds toward the green...and he still made par..later he hits one 375yds...which I couldn't do with a rocket launcher...please Mr Beman go home and leave me and my game alone... Sorry for that rant got carried away... ..the original reason I started this post is because I just got a postcard from the American Club (which owns Blackwolf Run and Whistling Straits) for the spring deal 8 play for price of 5 on any of the 4 courses except the Straits. Now if I can only find 7 guys who want to play one of the top 100 courses in the country..the search begins..

shoe295 replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearBig demo day coming the 23rd-24th of April just down the road in Rockford. I took vacation on the 23rd so I can attend and spend the day hitting all kinds of stuff. It will count as testing since it will be outdoors and not into a net  . I appreciate all the responses as I always have such a hard time making any kind of decision. Usually end up quintuple thinking myself and losing sleep (which has already happened) because instead of counting sheep I count purchase possibilities which excite me instead of calming me to sleep.. . I really believe Hipchecks SHAFT makes the greatest difference...but as with driver heads there are just too damn many choices. I do so much better when its just Chocolate or Vanilla instead of 31 flavors  I haven't even played a round yet and already made a bag change..the Odyssey is back in and the Gauge putter is on the sidelines..after my handicap went from 1.3 to 6 last year and I didn't make anything on the practice green the other day I dragged it out of the corner and proceeded to knock in every thing in sight. Although that Eldik M is looking finer every time I see a picture..and how can you not like something named El Dik as in Mr. El Dik to your competitors...

shoe295 replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearI'm in the market for a new driver...money is not a factor let's say (no references to the $5000 spent on that ebay auction for the FT-3..I'm insane not foolish) but I'm torn between buying something used and spending the $$ to reshaft it, buying new domestic and reshafting despite the fact that it brings the price up to some of the Japanese stuff Chris sells or buying new Japanese even tho I hesitate to pull the trigger on something I can't hit and have no idea how it would work for me. My swingspeed is up to 105 thanks to off season training and some subtle swing changes. I appreciate the knowledge here and would enjoy it if you'd share your thoughts. Thanks in advance

shoe295 replied to Mike's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearI guess I'll never comprehend this kind of moronic thought process. Perhaps it's because there is no thought process involved in this sort of behavior, then again he could have been dropped on his head as a child. Why do these cretins always sound surprised that the military includes the possibility of gunfire with live ammunition being directed at their person? Did this bag of pig excrement never watch the great movie "Pork Chop Hill"? Ok ok I date myself, let's try say....oh ...the first 15 minutes of "Saving Private Ryan"? Did that resemble in any way shape or form a Girl Scout Camp? Guys like this give d**kheads, pricks, assbags, f**kheads, and douche bags a bad name. If I could humbly request his presence in my company for a week I'm thinking we strip him down, cover him in honey and leave him atop an ant hill. After a couple of days I'll come up with a really good punishment.

shoe295 replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearHummmm...well you don't have snow (that last long anyway) so can't stick them at the end of the driveway to mark the edges..maybe use them to practice sword fighting so you can emulate Mandy Pitankin in "The Princess Bride"?...ah well...just stick them in the corner and something will come up..hell who knows maybe I'll buy one of them from you..then they could sit in my corner until I decide what to do with them..

What Happened to Fujikura in Japan?
Manufacturers are always pressing suppliers to lower the cost of raw materials. My guess would be that Fuji took a hard line and refused to meet the demands of the OEM's. When GD and Diamana agreed you see those being offered instead. Just a guess, but that's how it works in the 2 industries of my experience.

TW's Nike One Platinum
So if this ball is stamped a Nike One gold but is not a gold is it on the USGA approved ball list? and do they have a separate listing for it? I'm confused as to how this could be a legal ball if it is purposely mis-stamped. I remember (I think I remember correctly) that Jeff Sluman was disqualified because one of his Pro V's came through unstamped and he didn't catch it until he had played at least a hole. Since it had no stampings it didn't qualify as an approved ball...ergo DQ'd. This mis-stamping would seem to fit the same scenario? Any enlightenment would be appreciated.
