Buying clubs without trying
In theory testing everything before you purchase is the way to go about acquiring new clubs. Launch moniter, range time, even a round or two before you part with the cash. The operative words being "in theory" . As with most theoretical ideas it makes nice copy but is not practical in real life. I've found Corky's method of point and shoot to be the case more often than not, what I've heard refered to as the old "wing and a prayer" method. Do your best to get it right based on as much info as can be garnered from places such as this and use any of several payment options. Or move to Ireland and hang with Plus1 as he has to have the largest selection of equipment in captivity by anyone NOT affliated with a manufacturer or retailer! :tsg_smilie_wink:

Putting help, please!
This is my problem, every time I start having trouble, especially with distance control it's because I'm staring at the putter head like a stupid! Going to spend some time practicing putting while looking at the hole since that will eliminate the problem completely

Tennis Elbow Pain -- Any Hints on Minimizing the Pain
My error, thanks for the correction Doc...my elbow's been swollen for over a year after I squeezed a piece of lumber I was sawing too tightly so it didn't slide off the sawhorse. Diclofenac has helped the pain most of the time but PT and 2 cortisone shots have done nothing for the swelling. Must be time for another visit to see what's up with it. As for placebo effect it really doesn't matter, as long as it works. Even placebo's improve conditions in some people on a regular basis.

GAS 1 v GAS1 SQBT
Can you ever wear these down so they don't chew the ball so much? Although I'm becoming more convinced that this could be worth the expense of new balls just to see the ball suck back that far!

Exactly...I think I need to spend some time in the casino this winter so I can treat my golf bag to a new collection of tools for the new season!

TSG v.3 Contest - Offical Entry Thread
In also....hopefully I can win something but if not I know I'll come away with a great deal more knowledge than I began with! ( no comments about how easy that will be considering i don't know nothing to start with ok)

Tennis Elbow Pain -- Any Hints on Minimizing the Pain
I need to try this although what they tell me is tennis elbow is a traumatic injury rather than a repetitive use type injury. thanks doc!

shoe295 replied to acrazygolfer's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearYou may be correct. I don't know how you can't go with either of the SC guys. Reggie Bush is in the top 5 best running backs I've ever seen. The Rose Bowl is going to be fun to watch this year.

shoe295 replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearCheck out a Fuji TW74 for your 3 wood (unless it's not heavy enough for you) Just a very very solid shaft which puts a nice kick into the ball and a really boring medium ball flight. Mr. Mac would tell you to go with a Fuji 869, but I think that's cuz he slept with his. Alan, in leu of sending the boxes to your work, if the wife sees them tell her you're taking up jousting and its part of the lance you're building ( she'll never know it should be a single piece). That way you can keep getting boxes all you want! If you want I can even ship you a horse and some armor to complete the ruse. I HAVE to hit the new Tour Edge Exotics Driver...except that it's below zero again today..my shopping list continues to grow...

Instructions on How to fix a sky mark?
Great info, I have a friend who could use this as he does tend to put some lousy swings on the ball. :tsg_smilie_whistle: Pity the impatient soul who doesn't let the paint dry completely (read:over night) as the thought of what that would look like makes me cringe.

shoe295 replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearA new driver..hummm I wonder what that could be in 460cc? I too ate more than my share on thanksgiving, but then I've had that problem for a while now. Too da*n cold to do anything but freeze one's butt off, I almost had to get my coat out since it was -1* F this morning but I refuse to give in to winter. Am making my list of items I MUST have come the spring just because it's time to make some changes! One of these days I'll have a day off and be able to spend some time on here and see whats up with new offerings. I'd kind of like to put something more exotic in the bag this year. As a famous Lebanese once said to me..may all your camels spit dates!

The next Boron 1000.00 Shaft!
Plus1, I think it's obviously some sort of plot. As soon as something really expensive hits the golf forums the subliminal messages kick in directed at your wallet. :tsg_smilie_wink: I realize that you feel you should control yourself but it really is pointless! I expectantly await your review of this new shaft.

shoe295 replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech Gearjust got back from visiting my sister's kids in southern Georgia...I never remember until I go outdoors that EVERYTHING that flys bites you and a lot of those critters can't be seen with the naked eye! I'm still scratching gnat bites. Haven't played in over a month despite some really really nice weather, but I'm going to try and play Monday for sure. I'm with you Alan on playing with added clothing...plus it's really difficult to stay loose in the colder weather. My youngest daughter got a Blue Heeler puppy at the end of september..what a nice dog...when she's unhappy she howls like a coyote...marvelous sound at 2AM..not stay well all and enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday

shoe295 replied to Ichiro's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearOh my, I just have to differ with the Clemens shutout. He hasn't looked like the same guy as in the first half of the season. I don't think the Sox can match 4 complete games in a row again but it's sure gonna be fun to watch. GO SOX!

shoe295 replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech Gearwhy do we buy things we don't need? because we can! In some insane hope that by having one more thing we will achieve nirvana, the Elysian Fields, Valhalla, or some such gobblety gook. what do I know except that manual labor at 43 was a hell of lot easier to do than at 53... anybody seen the pathpro infomercial on the golf channel? I'm on right about in the middle of the thing..they made me an 18 handicap..LOL i'm gonna use that next time i get in a skins game..I do really highly recommend the product as something that can work for a lot of different flaws, of which I suffer several. Alan..it's always an issue when your head gets in the way, I always forget to swing and try to steer which is probably why I havent gone low this year at all. Yet. still time left for one more good round. Still that was some nice playing you did.. I'm looking for a hybrid at about 22 or 23* but I just can't get my head around the looks of the titleist. I'll be sure and let you know when I'm done..got the whole main body of the house painted using a sprayer in 6.5 hours on Tuesday..

shoe295 replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearG5 looks good too..just so many choices and not enough time..now where have I heard THAT before? I got a sprayer to help me paint and let me tell you they put about 700 warnings not to shoot yourself with it and if you do to have the physician who sees you treat it surgically IMMEDIATELY; almost makes you want to box it up and send it back except I just KNOW some yahoo has spray painted his arm and wound up losing it. Once you get the hang of it tho it sure does work slick, although you don't want to use it in much of a breeze and absolutely no where up wind of your car. may your camels spit nothing but dates....enjoy

shoe295 replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearMike, I've been thinking about you, I hope things are looking up for you. It's difficult for me to realize the anguise you must be feeling. Somehow, sitting behind a keyboard so far away doesn't lend itself to the sensitivity of good thoughts and healthy emotion so deserving in your rare case. On Chat we joked, we laughed, we made fun of each other, and had a rip rouring good time but we sometimes eluded to the facts that things weren't all ok with your health. If thinking about this helps, if praying about this helps, if talking about and posting about this helps, then I'll do all of it. Keep the good thoughts and the faith and here's to your improved health and well being. :smile2:  Mac :spit: Ditto from me Mike..I don't think a day passes were I don't wonder how you are doing, nothing but the best my friend...very nicely said Mr. Mac... Andy...nice round and really nice drive..I played in the company scamble and one of the kids on my team was blowing the ball 45-50yds past me..I hit so many irons from places I've never dreamed of being I didn't know what to do...in fact the only decent second shot I hit was off my own drive,(as sean jerked his left), but I really liked his driver, Ping G2 with NV75 even tho I'm not a fan of the NV at all. One of these days I plan on getting finished painting the house, been working on it 3 days a week for 3 weeks now and am just getting to the point of priming it. I'm too damn old to be working this damn hard. Then I can enjoy some fall golf! In fact I just got a free green's fee to the University of Wisconsin course designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. I will be visiting shortly I'm thinking of getting a Bridgestone driver also and putting an axiv shaft in it as a birthday/christmas gift to myself. See I'm not clever enough to pull the 652 from my TM driver and put in a new driver nooooo sir I've gotta get something way over the top just because it's there to be had and I have no plans to retire until i'm 106 at least. But I'll probably just start with the shaft and wait to get a head until spring to see if I survive the winter, number one, and discover if I have any money at all after paying to heat my house, number two! Any way..enjoy all..may you never have to dine on chicken lips

shoe295 replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearI also have no excuse except I'm painting a house and it's taking way more work than I bargained for...when I'm done I'll play til winter kills the season. I need a new driver but am waiting for some of the newer models to come out, specifically the Tour Edge Exotic and the bridgestone 460 cc model..bigger needs to be better right? I really want a new putter but I keep making putts with the old odyssey so how can I switch? take care all

shoe295 replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearAlan, Nice round after 4 weeks off! Must of been trying to stay within your limits and not do anything but hit fairway and green? Happy for both of you that the dog is staying, he'll get a good home and you'll get someone who is always happy to see you regardless of the kind of day you had. That's a winning proposition in my book every time. Have a great week all

shoe295 replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearAlan...hope your neck is feeling better...d**n gunfire at school! how horribly urban. I am always intrigued by the karmic implecations when the only person injured in these kinds of attacks are the perpatrators. Where do you suppose they get the guns? We just had 10 kids arrested in a drive by shooting in which no one was seriously injured and again I asked where do they get the weapons and what kind of moron allows kids to get their hands on them? The world has truly gone nuts in a large, violent, unsupervised manner. *sigh*shake head* I like dogs a lot, haven't had one of my own in about 5 years so I make do with my youngest daughter and her mom's little beast. a chihauhau/jack russel terrier mix so he has ADD and hyperactivity disorder in spades. Reminds me of the old Ricochet Rabbit cartoon the way he bounces off every wall in the place at twice the speed of sound. I played for the first time in 3 weeks last tuesday, the fall rates have arrived at the county courses in northern Illinois so it cost me $10 to walk 18 holes!!!!, and shot a very unspectacular 78, 2 doubles and only one bird. Put the Gemini driver in the bag for the heck of it and added 15 yds on an average drive over my old TM mid...now I need a new driver head to stick on the 652...ah well off to work...enjoy the week end
