shoe295 replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearI am just so out of touch...just got cable for my mom so she can cruise the internet and watch tv at the same time LOL...at 79 she's no technotard.. ...so I haven't seen any public tv for years.. Al sorry to hear about the neck woes...is that happens when you become torqued and get your neck out of joint? I always wondered what that meant... Been painting the last 2 weeks on my off days, will finish the garage monday and finally get to play on Tuesday...then get to paint my friends house cuz she got a couple of bids that seem really high and i'm a sucker when a woman says "plllleaaaassseeee" and bats her eyes at me...my 14yr old daughter is helping( for $5 an hour) and i learned never ever trust her with a power washer...took most of the morning to dry out..getting ready to replace most of my bag after the first of the year.. :money: :money: :money: ... enjoy the weekend all

shoe295 replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech Gearthey do the typical Public TV stuff...show a little of the Dead Movie and then cut away to a call center where you can phone in pledges and buy Dead merchandise at a remarkably exaggerated price. Don Henley had a line in a song, I believe it was from the "Boys of Summer" that went "saw a Deadhead sticker on a Cadillac" which is just how I felt. Wrong just wrong

shoe295 replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearI was watching Public TV last Sunday and was surprised to see a 3 hr show on the Grateful Dead...little did I know they were using the Dead as a fund raising show!!!! What is the world coming too when the Dead are so mainstream that the Public TV uses them to help raise cash....sigh..I truly are getting old..

shoe295 replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearMike..Hope your surgery goes this winter also...having had 4 operations and looking at a 5th winter is always the best time to rehab..what else is there to do during the off season. You're right had no idea you rode..enjoy the wind in your hair ( provided of course you still have yours  ) and take care of yourself. Drop in now and again, I for one would miss your presence. I need to play more..I can practice till the cows come home but without time on the course it just doesn't work as well...lose my ability to concentrate, or what little ability I have had..

shoe295 replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearYou mean you don't get excited about playing in 90*+ temps Andy? Actually the beach is the best idea, took 2 of my kids there Monday. Played 9 yesterday...7 pars for a smooth 41; that's whats happens when you hit one in the water and the next OB. That 9 on the card sure is delightful. I was having trouble with tee height yesterday too, but I think it's more a swing issue than anything as I felt like I was getting a little steep. Happens when I don't play very much. Watched a little of the last round of the Buick on Sunday..I really really want one of those putters VJ was using. Hope everyone has a good week

I too have more to think about if I decide to replace my current irons. thanks for sharing those pictures

shoe295 replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearThanks guys! The program will be on in September sometime and run into December. I'll be sure to let you know when and how to pick me out. No bragging but I'm a ham from the get go and really did have a blast...if they show any of the outtakes you'll be laughing your asses off. Worked some more tonight on my putting because we actually had 2 inches of rain today for the first time in a month so I couldn't play..new drill I tried was to hit putts one handed just to get a feel for the putterhead...helped a lot..especially on short putts...

shoe295 replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearI figured out my putting woes!!!!!!!!!!!! I've been watching the stinking putter head instead of the ball..what a maroon(*shake head at intentional mispelling*) soon as I look at the ball throughout the swing..Viola' not even a semblence of a three putt and I started dropping everything inside 10ft...to think it was so easy... Spent all day at an infomercial shoot on Butler National Golf Club in Oak Brook IL, a Chicago suburb. What a production one of those is..got to meet Peter Kostis and Gary McCord and hit their clubs. Kostis is a Hobbit so his clubs are really short but are those Titlest 735's he carries are absolutely the most solid club I've hit in ages. He also had a set of 695cb delivered in the afternoon. Titleist wouldn't tell him what the new technology is in those until he gives them his feedback. Those weren't nearly as solid as the 735's. McCord is just a very funny man who plays the Aldila iron shafts in XS and has the R7 driver and fairway woods. Interestingly he uses Aldila NVS in S flex in the R7 fairway. His magnetic R7 driver headcover has a tendency to pull one or two irons out with it because of the strength of the magnet. He wisecracked about using it to collect jewelery from gallery members at some point in the future! At the end of the day the two of them were on the range waiting to shoot a scene hitting iron shots with the clubhead reversed and the toe pointing down, this is hard to describe, they hit shots with the back of the clubhead. I couldn't believe it ..they hit draws, fades, and straight shots better than I hit most shots on my best day.. McCord was talking about a Taliban golfer who had a "hell of a bunker game. Of course his whole f**king county is a sand trap" so it's not a surprise. The guy is really really a hoot. What a really great experience I had and I would highly recommend the training aid, The Path Pro, the product which was being touted. It really can help with a wide variety of swing faults.

shoe295 replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearI for one love mallets..now that I can finally hit a ball farther than I can see, I need the extra alignment confidence a mallet gives me. Of course I can't see any farther than 245yds anymore so about half the time I have no clue where my drive ends up but I do feel much more comfortable with the mallet. Took my 5 yr old to the course with me for the first time, she loved the ball washer and when she got tired of riding after 9 holes I let her sit in my lap and steer, which was a real hoot! I would go thru my routine and after my 1 practice swing before each shot she'd yell..." Da..ad! Just do it!" had me chuckling thru about half of my shots which I am using to explain the 83 I shot! Played yesterday as the temperature was only 89*..bogeyed the first two holes, hit 14 of the next 15 greens and was even going into 18. Which I promptly doubled as my brain was seized by a giant gas bubble...sigh If you ever get the chance to hit a Tour Edge exotic I highly recommend that you do so! This is the best ever 3 wood! I hit the damn thing almost as far as my driver and am able to hit little draws and even a little fade with it. The thing is remarkable...I'm going to look at the irons in the off season and if and when they come out with a driver it'll automatically make the list of possible replacements for my outdated TM mid. That's it from the dought stricken land of cheese..ya'll take care.. oh yeah I forgot..am going to be filming an infomercial tomorrow at Butler National Golf Club in Oak Brook, IL..let you know about that after tomorrow.. shoe

shoe295 replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech Gear45 minutes of continuous explosions...now we're talking....artillery barrage of the colored light variety. the guy across the street had a couple of huge roman candle things that just kept launching colored balls into the air for what seemed like eternity but in reality was only 3-4 minutes at a time...seemed a little intense for a residential neighbor but was sure fun to watch.. am headed out this afternoon to play in the 93* heat..even at my age you can get loose on days like this

shoe295 replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearGlad to see you all survived the 4th without major injury! Lance, I'm with Andy the FT-3 is the way to go, even I'm considering that one. But I think you need a Ping Doc-17 to add something really ugly to the bag that will focus everyone's concentration on your bizarre putter causing them to ignore the fact that you are removing all the $$ from their wallets. Took my 5 yr old to the course with me..she didn't want to play but thought sitting in my lap steering the cart was to die for...think she'd have stayed for 36 if we'd had the time. Played the front with a retired gentleman who said the Illinois DNR had to kill off a bunch of the deer due to CWD infecting the herd. Now if they'd just do that to the geese... Mike..your card sounds like mine..consistantly inconsistant Enjoy all

Johnny Miller is a Tool: Give us your thoughts
I like Miller just because he provides entertainment value. He's articulate, intelligent, insightful, and knowledgable; I'm not sure you can expect much more from a golf color person. Personally I prefer Nick Faldo, Paul Azinger, and David Feherty.

shoe295 replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearI am starting to wonder if it will ever rain in my lifetime...weatherman says another week of this and we will officially be in a drought...the practice range is so hard and dry little puffs of dirt fly after you hit the ball and if the wind is blowing the right way I go home filthy from the knees down where all that dirt stuck to the sweat! Only gonna be 96* here today... Played Tuesday and it was only 92*..got to the course at 9:30am and the pro told me they had a shotgun start at 12:30 how fast can I play...2 hours and 40 minutes later I was back at the car after one of the most interesting 76's I ever had...missed only 2 fairways (so why do I think I need a new driver?) hit a lot of greens but made only 2 putts over 4 ft. Best shot of the day was on 18 a hybrid from 207, blind, over some large trees that hit and stopped. Of course on the 18th green I then figure out that I've been lining my putts up with the ball to close to my front foot so I at last stroked a good one that just came up short...weird bizarre game we play Have a great weekend guys..and if it doesn't rain soon I'm sacrificing a goat in an effort to appease whoever it is I've managed to p*** off

shoe295 replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearWell hell..I AM insane and I'm in search for something unattainable also so now you've got me confused six ways from Thursday...the fine line between insanity and genius is similar to the line between self control and self abuse....and I've spent damn little time on the side of self control; in fact I don't ever remember being there..now if I could only remember what I was searching for? Mike very glad to hear no surgery...sorry about the back to work part tho.. Andy..you're never drunk as long as you can fish...glad you had a great Father's Day....mine was fun too with 2 of my 3 kids here for the weekend...my 14 year old is a hoot..she shaved her eyebrows and drew them on with an eyeliner pencil!!!! better at 14 than 24 I figure.. Play well gentlemen and have a great week

shoe295 replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearArrrggghh..gall bladder pain- ouch....that's a lousy way to ruin a good summer...hopefully the wonders of modern medicine combined with better living thru chemistry can find a way to relieve the problem without resorting to something as barbaric as body part removal. Internet porn is always a good alternative to golf, so I've been told. Heavy doses of reality TV have enough mind numbing capacity that you will be reduced to a vegetative state in under two weeks. You have my wishes for a speedy recovery. Story of the week..I was on the first green getting ready to hit my putt when, just as I began my forward stroke I feel something cold and wet against my left calf...sent the ball about 20 yards and I jumped about 6 feet...turns out the course dog decided he needed to sniff my leg :surprize: ..never saw him coming but he sure gave me a start..belongs to the head groundskeeper and has the run of the place. Have fun at whatever occupies your attention this week

shoe295 replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearCamping? as in sleeping on the ground? Sorry but my idea of roughing it is a Motel 6! complete with Free TV!!!! I agree with Andy...Lance sounds ready to have children..LOL After a serious case of the lefts off the tee I played two days later in 90+ heat. Walked and thought I'd like to die after 16 holes but did manage a pair of 38's including a no look birdie from 40 ft. on the last hole..nice way to end as I could barely drag my ass to the car.. Going out this morning to test the Tour Edge Exotic on the course before I drop it off to have the stock shaft swapped out with the ZCom...really do like that club and after this change think I'm set for the rest of the year... Looks like I may need surgery on the elbow at some point..fluid build up just won't go away..gonna try another cortisone shot before we take that step. Hopefully if it comes to that I can hold out til November so I can rehab (oh how I hate the sound/thought of that word) over the off season. If anyone is interested in acquiring a couple of teenage girls I would gladly tape $100 bills to the backs of two and send them your way..with the way the laws are these days one can't even discipline your own child without going to jail should they decide they don't want to be disciplined..but that's a story for another day.. Have fun and enjoy yourselves in whatever activities you choose to participate in...just remember to DO something as this gig called life allows for no practice runs or do-overs... :smile2:

Butter or Margerine?
shoe295 replied to sly_sam's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearLong long ago when I was but a mere child...before most of you guys thinking up and responding to this bizarre Betty Crocker kind of question were even gleams in your fathers' eye I learned to hate margarine. It came in a plastic bag, in an uncolored state, with a little button area full of dye. The game was you had to push the button to release the dye then sqeeze the bag for what seemed like hours to distribute the dye and "color" the margazine. Anything that felt like that while you mashed it in a plastic bag could NOT be good to eat. Ipso facto....BUTTER is the now and future king. Bran muffins on the other hand suck eggs.
