World Cup Heading Back to Europe
shoe295 replied to DoubleAA's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearI will say I am not much of a soccer fan, although I did watch some of the World Cup and came away with several observations/questions. Do all these guys take acting classes? I saw a lot of what appeared to be minor collisions result in some amazing writhing. Do all these guys who appear to be so hurt prior to a penalty call have the recuperative powers of professional wrestlers? A lot of amazing recoveries. Shouldn't the World Soccer organization ( FIFA?) be asshamed at the flops these guys take? I certainly would be were this my sport of choice to follow. From my point of observation some of these antics were disgraceful. Congratulations to the Italians...

shoe295 replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearAh Mike..I understand the too many people thing...exactly what you don't need. Hope you get home soon. But until then...I repeat "sponge baths".. I'm with Alan that you may be jumping the gun a little early on the ho-ing thing, but that could just be the steroids talking. Funny game indeed Pete...no wonder there are 600,000 instruction books out there, all with the design of confusing us. I haven't played in a week but am headed to Bergamont Golf Club Monday which is an Andy North/Bob Packard design. I'll take some pictures and post them when I get back and make the time. Also headed to The Springs which is a Robert T Jones Jr design. Thanks for the nice words Chris..we are for sure abby-normal in several ways

NEW FOURTEEN UT-106 hybrid
I like the looks. The golf business reminds me of the fashion industry..somebody makes a change and everybody follows. A lot like watching 3rd graders play soccer( or swarm soccer) the balls squirts out of the mass of kids, 1 kid tears after it and the swarm follows!

I think maybe you just looked at the PW loft...in the Pro model is 46* and Pro II is 47* and the 9 iron is the same at 42* but the rest of the Pro model lofts are actually weaker; especially in the middle irons. I like the look a lot. Am really interested in hearing and seeing more. New is always such good fun!

shoe295 replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearMike...May all the forces that are good in the world be with you! I too hope you get this done sooner rather than later...waiting is always a b*tch...waiting while sick is even worse. May all of your Camels spit dates as my Lebanese friend used to say. Alan..now you know why I gave up umpiring little league! I got tired of being threatened, cursed, abused, over a stupid kid's baseball game. If I had stayed I'd have gone to jail for busting some kid's dad (or mom cuz they were even worse) right off the side of his knee so his leg bent funny. Even writing about it raises my bloodpressure. On another note, speaking of writing..check out the blog...a lot of those articles are mine. It's a hoot to do and if you have anything you'd like me to pontificate upon just let me know! It's all in good entertaining fun. Enjoy your weekends guys...I'm at work on a Sunday for which they pay me an obscene amount of money..but Monday and Tuesday it'll be the golf course for me.

Would love your guys input
1. Favorite shaped driver from Top Line? I'm most of the others, pear shaped is good 2. Favorite Sole Design? Simple and non flashy..something in a brushed metal 3. Favorite type of Score Lines (line type, how many lines, paint filled, non paint filled) Full face unpainted 4.Hosel Type? (Short Hosel, Long Hosel, Unique Shaped Hosel) Short is better 5. Color or Colors? Black or very dark Burgundy 6. Favorite Material For Face? (9-6-4, Beta, SP700 or other) Whatever works the best for your design 7. Carbon Fiber Crowns? (Yes or No) No carbon please..I am not fond of it at all 8. Would you prefer not to have to use a tool to adjust your weight? No tools, self adjustable weights seem pointless to me 9. Best Sounding Driver? Persimmon or my G Field GFT, 10. Alignment Devices on top of head (Paint, engrave, or none) None...although I do really like the Ping half moon

shoe295 replied to DoubleAA's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearDitto that...I had to close IE cuz the thing attacked me repeatedly and it took me a minute to figure out where the assault was coming from. shoe295 replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearQuiet here lately....just thought I'd drop a note as I saw the other day that Steve Howe died in an auto accident. For those who don't remember Mr. Howe, he pitched in the Majors from 80-83 a couple of times in the mid 80's and finished 91-96. The guy could bring serious heat when he first came up with the Dodgers but addiction haunted him right to the grave. Maybe at last he can find some form of peace.

Whoa! Have you seen the Japan MacGregor Putters?
I'd play one of those! Very sophisticated in appearance, or maybe more accurately very science fictiony in appearance...sleek yet bold...why do I feel like I'm writing ad copy? No really..quite interesting and something I would for sure try. Ditto on the double bend shafts, but I'd still give it a go

Art Appreciation, Masterwork Series
Hopefully that means he won't have to chop his ear off! However I believe if you wish to view the collection of clubs here as works of art a mere $3K is cheap cheap cheap. Have you priced a Monet, Gauguin, or Van Gogh lately? The last Van Gogh I saw went for $52 MILLION. So I would think one would be able to explain the great savings in these particular works of art to your wife without much difficulty. Of course thinking such as this may be a reason I'm am no longer a member of the married community. Perhaps.

shoe295 replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearOK it' official I suck at this game....after a 6 month layoff I can't imagine why I have no swing consistency whatsoever. Dang...I think I need to practice some cuz I sure don't think I know what the hell I'm doing anymore. There, now I feel better. I'm taking a couple of days and just working on my game so I can get back into some kind of game shape. I make hackers look good, for once I can honestly say I remind myself of Tiger Woods on the back 9 Sunday of the Masters....in 2 words...kinda poopie... On to the good news...I got my FUT 3 back with the Stulz shaft in it and I think it's marvelous. Once I rediscover that the goal is to swing the club not hit the ball I'll know more, but first impressions are that this is a winner. May all your camels spit dates...have a great weekend

TOURSPECGOLF: PRGR vs G-Field vs Tourstage vs Mizuno Challenge!
Some kinda fun that test must've been. Heads are all the rage and shaft is king! Long live the king! Wonderful information for me to take and worry on like a dog with a fresh knuckle bone. I also appreciate everyone else's perspective on this subject. Something to ponder between shots on the course today!

Tourstage version 2006 X-Wedge!
Why oh why do they have to manufacture such attractive wedges! I mean really, recently I've noticed that I am responding in the same way to wedges as I do to attractive women; by reaching for my wallet! I'm sure this is some kind of disturbingly psychological condition that can eventually be blamed on my parents and a catholic upbringing. Those are attractive enough to consider working overtime so I can afford to invite them back to my place for some quality alone time. :tsg_smilie_whistle:

$3.11 per gallon
shoe295 replied to acrazygolfer's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearThat gives outrageous a bad name! shoe295 replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearYeah Sarge, but at least it's only April... by the way happy Easter to all and hopefully the egg laying rabbit left lots of goodies for the youngun's. Speaking of the young, I had my youngest daughter out at the range with me, she'll be 6 on Tuesday, and what a time we had! She didn't want to hit any balls, but I have 2 sets of junior clubs her sisters used so I grabbed the PW and and showed her I had a club just her size. She proceeded to make me clean it up! When she finally decided she would try and hit a few, I couldn't watch of course, I showed her how to stand and a basic grip, teed up a ball and let her go after it. I had to drag that kid off the range! She didn't want to leave, which is a lot different than her sisters as they lost interest after 6-7 shots. She told her mom she's gonna be a professional golfer and my first thought was " my ticket just got punched" :tsg_smiley_laughatyou: What a fool! I'm just glad she liked it and wants to hit some more. She asked if she could hit some on the course when I take her along with me to drive the cart which, if it isn't busy won't be a problem..I'll just tee up a ball and let her whack her little PW onto the green from 10 yds out. I think I was as happy as she was when our range session was over. I'll post a review of the G Field driver/axiv shaft combo after I get a couple more rounds under my belt but I'm thinking this is a winning combination right now. The sound/feel is just so solid off the clubhead. None of that silly "TINK" sound like off the Gemini or the mellower but still metallic "tink" from the TM 510 mid. Certainly much better than the "discharge a firearm inside a tin can" sound off the Cobra drivers I've tested. No one will duck and cover after I hit tee shots based on just the sound (although they might have to directional wise if my swing doesn't come around soon). The shaft is looking like a winner too, but it's really too early to tell as I've only hit 3 good drives on the course.
