2008 EPON 208KGX In Hand Actual Images!
Those are really attractive! I don't think I've ever seen so much of the ball cover stuck in the grooves. Astounding, I wonder how many shots it would take to dull those edges some, or maybe I could just shave for a week or two with the wedge, that'll dull em up.

Fourteen Limited Edition MT28 TS SPEC 3 wedge set
the grind on those looks a lot like the SLT grind on my 58* Scratch. If these perform as well as that does Fourteen has no only a set that looks marvelous, but will also perform even better than it looks.

Pics of the New Epon AF101 Driver!
Now that's something to get excited about. I can't stand square headed drivers, looks too much like sticking a shaft in a square fruit cake and sound like the explosions inside my head after drinking all night. But this beauty is worth tipping the hat and holding the door open for, heck I might even put my coat over the puddle. I like

New 3 wood times for 2008 ?
I too am beginning a search for a 3 wood, I probably don't need to have a new 3 wood but it's time to upgrade. as with all this exotic equipment so many choices result in a difficult decision. I like what I've read about the M3 hit tour and it sounds like a club that will fit my needs. but who the heck knows. Just have to see what the Golf Show brings and how I feel when I send Chris the pm ..shopping for golf clubs sure is fun tho

Pics of project Frankenputter
Ditto, a Woody Austin moment (boy would this tick him off because I remembered he did that)? Nice recovery job. The question now becomes how long LaMont will keep that.

Tourstage ViQ MX 2008 Driver w/ PiCS!
I like the looks of that from address, agree that the sole looks odd but then I think most of them look odd. I find it intrigueing that everybody and his uncle is using "powerband" or "poweraid" or "powered by squirrel on steroids" on the soles of there drivers. Marketing departments must have read the same book.

A peek at Japan Tour Vans
I didn't realize that's where katakana came from. My sister lived in Japan for years teaching English and tried to explain the use of English alphabet because it made me curious to see it all the time. Back on topic, I had clubs built by the Cleveland Van at a demo day several years ago and they needed repair inside of 2 weeks because of the sloppy job they did. Have not been a fan since for that reason.

Epon EMB Driver w/PICS!
That's attractive in an eerie sort of way....new age traditional smack head on at 100+ mph maybe.

EPON's Prototype T72 Neo Anser Putter w/PICS!
I could get really used to that. Certainly not a commonplace design like so many I've seen, and not so far out that I feel like I've been transported into a Robert Heinlein novel. Good stuff

General BS Thread
shoe295 replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearNice dogs...they even look smart, which is scary in and of itself. Interesting to see how you like the wedges...is there a noticable advantage to the grind? As I'm a Brewer fan I hope you get to see the Cubs lose...haven't played in over a month, no time and 23 inches of rain does that...should get out tuesday tho... Not sure what happen to andy and allen...they must have decided to get a life...something that has always struck me as ordinary and filled with responsibility. yech

ITS HERE: Final Version Seida Wedge by YuRuRi !!!
Now that's a wedge! Even us old guys can see what club we're pulling out of the bag without having to doff our single vision prescription sunglasses and squinting like a little kid about to poop. HOORAY for big numbers on all my clubs! 10* bounce on a 60* wedge...very interesting

GOLD's FACTORY - Blinker Private Stock w/PICS!
Certainly qualifies as unusual in appearance. Looks like it has to be heavy to the backside. I'm sure that's not the case but my initial reaction is that the thing has to want to tip to the rear.

Premium Zone - Not so easy?
Here's my putter story, I had some time to kill so I went over to the local Nevada Bob's, which is a really interesting place run by a bunch of golf fanatics where I have even stumbled across some old Honma woods. After hitting a bunch of irons, a few drivers, trying on some shoes I went to the putter area and hit most everything they had. No intention of buying anything. Needless to say I walked out of there with a YES Marilyn which has now replaced my Gauge Design Tubu. The Tubu puts a nice roll on the ball and I've never had a problem with distance control on greens I'm familiar with (it's a different story on greens I've never played before). I like the firm feel somewhat clicky sound off the face of the Tubu and with the center shaft I've found alignment much easier. But the Marilyn is flat out bar none amazing. If I get my set up correct (ball position is everything) this putter rolls the ball right from the get go with a very solid, soft feel. I love this putter, especially for short putts because I can just line up and actually roll the ball into the back of the cup without thinking too much about it(for now, that may change at any time because my brain always gets involved in my putting at some point and I wind up going completely crazy on the greens). The feel, solid solid and soft combined with the fact that it appears those funky half circle grooves just roll the ball better than anything I've every tried. I always thought the whole YES thing was a gimmick. Not anymore. For today I'm a convert. I also agree with Chris in that you need to have a variety of putters so when one decides to hate you their are options to rediscover the love. I go back and forth between heel and center shafted, mallets and Anser to keep me sharp. When that doesn't work I go in search of a lobotomy.

Roddio Review
Now that's what I call a glowing review! I love when someone gets his hands on something that works this well for him. the only problem I ever have with these is that I know, deep down inside, at some point in the future this review is going to cost me money. you know I have to try something like this out for myself. Ah the trials of a man seduced by the wiles of high end golf equipment. My mother would be reduced to tears to know her first born has succombed to such an affliction. Staring at pictures of pretty shafts, clubs, putters and what not, with fixed wide staring eyes in a never ending search for the perfect addition to my bag. Sigh......what have I become?????????

Hybrids vs Fairway woods.
I just replaced a 19* hybrid with a 7 wood, mostly because I found the hybrid to be somewhat disconcerting at address. It just doesn't sit/look right and I just can't seem to hit it consistantly. So for now I'm playing with the 7 wood to see how that works. No way to tell yet as I've only played 2 rounds with it, the second of which was on a very short course so I didn't need it. I'm hoping it does for me what the 9 wood has, which is give me something I can hit 195-200 out of any lie, with some height and a great deal of accuracy/confidence. Time will tell, but the 9 wood is in the bag for good. I think. Maybe. Possibly.

Japan's Obsessions
shoe295 replied to gocchin's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearI've been fascinated by Japan since my sister moved their in the early 80's. I never got to visit her before she died, but her children live in the states now (they're half Japanese) and they have some fascinating tales of everyday life. Hopefully I'll get to take them back soon for a visit. There is no where I'd like to visit more. Thanks for starting this thread...and for making me really really hungry.

"YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH"!!!
Hmmmm...fantasizing is always intriguing. I have no doubt I'd take the 6 strokes off my game, because like Jack said I'd be able to shoot par with a stick of celery, which means I'd be carrying the most unmatched ridiculous looking set of sticks I could find while taking major bucks off an entire group of unsuspecting hacks. What a marvelous way to make a living! But unfortunately it ain't gonna happen, and so I add to my collection of beautiful clubs, play to a 3, and hope I can keep it there until I'm in my late 60's and beyond. That for me is as good as it gets.

who do you think was or is most likley to use steriods
shoe295 replied to Stanford's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearGo back and look at pictures from pre 1995 and then progress thru the years..juiced to the eyeballs, all of them. Pudge Rodriguez and Jason Giambi lost about 3 sizes. It's just been insane and IMHO this entire era is tainted because so many guys were using drugs. Sosa is as guilty as McGuire and Bonds. No doubt in my mind.

My first round with a full JDM bag
wow those are some nice sticks! I have to add my surprise to the others that you've only been playing for a year. Amazing the amount of information you've managed to pack inside your head in so short a period of time. I've played for a long long time and still never taken a chunk out of the carpet. I look forward to you sharing more of your information and experiences in the future.

52/58 or 52/56/60
I've played a few different set ups, 52-56-60, 53-58, and now 52-58. The 3 wedge set up gave me too many options which my small mind couldn't handle very well....I kept wondering if I was hitting the right club. I switched from 53 to 52 because when I changed irons my PW went from 49 to 47*. I like the versatility of the 58 much more than the 60 simply because the 60's I've used have very little bounce, which doesn't provide the versatility I like to have around the green. I find I need to be to precise with a 60 and make more mistakes than I do with a 58 that has more bounce. The 52 works well for longer bunker shots ( although I don't work so well on longer bunker shots it's not the fault of the club). It's also really good for longer chips when I want to keep the ball lower than my 58 would allow.
