  1. need to hit a "chip" shot then... :surprize:
  2. Hey thanks for saying that about a fade being visually appealing..THAT must be why I snap one hard left every so often  ..my eye needs to see that soaring straight flight for about 220yds followed by the hard left turn and a rather large splash into the lake...it's all so clear..I owe you one for that chainsaw...now to train myself to think that is as appealing a sight as Margaret Thatcher naked and maybe it'll stop.. you guys get me antsy talking bout those wedges..I'm at week 8 and really twitchy about them..
  3. Al, my dad had a great fix for picking your head up ...involves growing a goatee and running a string from that to your testicles...you only peek once guaranteed... :surprize: Took my TM 510 to the club man today to put a new shaft in it..I wondered why I had no problem getting the thing airborne Sunday with an xtra stiff shaft in it and lo and behold..it's stamped 10.5 on the bottom..is actually 12*..which actually works really well for me since I hit the ball so low anyway...after one round it's a really nice head...hopefully I'll still feel that way after he puts the new Fuji 661 in it... :money: finally saw a set of z101's the other day...must say that's a very very nice club for a CB.....I even hit em into a net :-) ....nice stick...but I think I'm set for the summer..unless I find a really impressive set of irons...
  4. What a great idea...let the replacement see what's in store if he messes up...I like the melting better than the water....let it harden in a ring shape and you can turn it into a hat like Odd Job used in Goldfinger :surprize: putting woes...the only solution I know is to work on the 3-6 footers focusing on the stroke..I've always used a "tick-tock" head game..say tick to yourself on the backswing and tock as you come thru the ball making sure that the tock is firmer than the tick..prevents me from decelerating on the way thru the ball..which is the problem I tend to have..plus it gives me something to think about besides the last 4 footer I just gagged..
  5. I hit one today at Nevada Bob's (what he's doing in Wisconsin I have no idea) also on indoor green but not into a net  ..and was rather impressed. I haven't used a Cameron since I put my Sante Fe into the closet a couple of years ago, but this was really easy to line up and appeared to put a good roll on the ball. I will say I was more impressed with the new center shafted McGregors by Bobby Grace(the 5K one). just my opinion...
  6. Ah AKfly you have my sympathy...when that crap starts happening it just crawls inside my head, makes itself at home, and proceeds to send my pulse racing, breathing shallows out, palms sweat, and I make a guy with the yips look smooth..nasty nasty business... fortunately it goes away..but damn what a nuisance...ruins my vocabulary every time Mike..airshow was very entertaining..the Thunderbirds were there..they were quite impressive, and loud..LOL :surprize:
  7. Putters are soooo personal...I still like Pete's idea even if you don't buy off ebay can still sell if you don't like and purchase the other one.. Speaking of golf stores..the kid at one of the Golf Shacks here told me TM doesn't make the 510TP anymore :surprize: ...I don't think I'll ask any more questions ..they did have 4 R7's but since it would have been into a net I didn't bother  ... My LPGA fanatsy girl, Paula Marti, is in position to cash a big check this week..if only I could figure a way for her to support me.. It's early, not enough caffeine, and I gotta go try out my new Driver..plus the air show is at the regional airport adjacent to the course I play so not only will I be playing today but get to see the show as well...you haven't lived til your standing over a 4 1/2 footer when a flight of F16's comes screaming overhead at tree top level..the old soldier in me wants to go jump in a bunker while the golfer in me stabs the putt 8 ft right and 12 ft long... :) :D
  8. Keychains are cool...the clubs are awful busy with all that stamping..
  9. Because there is something new and improved and that's what people want. I don't think they do the research to make us want to change, I think we change because we are in search of that Holy Grail, whether it be golf clubs, laundry detergent, or automobiles. This item I just bought is the best, quickest, longest, straightest, dirt fightingest, you should see that sucker merge into traffic thing on the market today. Emphasis on today. They do the research so they can feed our need to change. It becomes "which came first the chicken or the egg" in a discussion like this, the product causeing the desire to change or the desire to change creating the need for the product. Personally I keep changing hoping that I'll get better when all I really get is different, but my head believes I'm better..and sometimes, as in DM's case I really do get better in which case I stick with that until something better comes along... :-D
  10. Always good to get home...as for the match i hope you can stand up to the pressure....those are some heavy duty loses to incur...I imagine it could get a little testy the longer the outcome stays in doubt  as for the political discussion staying civil..I have been married twice and no longer believe myself to be right about anything...having been divorced twice I no longer feel the need to go to war over anything ideological...hell having given away 1/2 my stuff twice I'm trying to figure out how I still own anything.. :surprize: :money: :wah: now I'm anxiously awaiting tomorrow to see how the new driver works :smile1:
  11. I see this as a reasonable idea..the theory has been around forever the issue is the technology to make it functional. converting light into enough energy to power this thing isn't practical yet, that i know of. I would agree with Mr. Brin...2019 is way optimistic...i love this stuff..

I think you meant 73 grams not inches...although a 73 inch shaft would be amusing, talk about slowing your swing down....must be lack of oxygen caused by the new Gauge Design irons..
  13. That's too funny...amazing how fast things move these days..How strong are the lofts on these?
  14. I agree with the dissing part...I believe that most, not all because you can't deal with absolutes, people are negative because they need something to bitch about thus giving meaning to their petty little lives. Harsh..probably. And because the naysayers are so adamant, sometimes violently so, that they are correct that those with positive attitudes towards government don't often express them. Wait I need coffee... better now..for an example, there's a thread here, i forget the original topic but it involved chisag praising Aldila shafts and FAQ asking his position with Aldila..and it turned very nasty very fast, even Joe K got involved to try to smooth feathers and that's just about a freaking golf shaft...why did it get to that level? because one person chose the less intelligent route and the other followed down the path of idiocy..because they both had to be RIGHT. I learned a long time ago that the biggest choice I have in life is do I want to be RIGHT or do I want to be HAPPY? everything else follows from that choice when dealing with other people. and now my head hurts and its not even 6am..goddamn golf forums' making me think...not comfortable at all.... :-)

I find I can prevent pushing the ball by making certain that my weight stays between my feet. As Breal said for me it is a hip thing..I rotate them too fast and get my weight to the outside of my left foot (being right handed) too fast which results in either a push or a flipping of my hands leading to a snap hook. If i concentrate on keeping my weight on the inside of my feet the problem resolves itself.
  16. One of these days I'll learn to NOT read these things  yeah right....FAQ..too bad your not enthusiastic about your new irons  looking forward to the review
  17. You make some very good points Pete and it would make sense that people would want to discuss politics and religion yet look at the history of warfare throughout the world and examine the cause. Except for the Trojan War, which was fought over a woman, the rest are the result of either religious or political disagreements. Look at the founding of this country, the direct result of religious persecution. Something about those topics results in the removal of all gray areas, especially religion, and the black and white picture that remains is focused on "right" and "wrong". Why does this occurs so frequently and with such passion around these two topics ? Perhaps because if these essentially core beliefs are refuted the entire foundation of your life turns to sand castles as the tide marches in, in other words you have to recreate you belief system and for most folks that is more frightening than going to war. And unlike other subjects, where the possibility that more than one way to look at things correctly exists in religion and politics the consequences of being incorrect create so much anxiety that I will kill you before I can accept that premise. gotta stop too early to get this deep and I am much more comfortable being shallow :tired:
  18. AK and HIP..thanks for the advice..sort of along the lines I was thinking but we'll see later this week. I know more about "thin" shots than I care to admit. HIP ..any idea why you can hit the knockdown now and not previously? Pete, welcome back..."4 more terms"..at least they only last months as opposed to years!...as for mature political discussion I believe that's an oxymoron, seldom see maturity around politics..could always try tho.. we've had so much rain that the greens are marked with the footprints of everyone over 60lbs whose walked on them for the last week...it's easier to putt on freshly aerated greens than these things...I don't remember ever seeing anything like this before...I refer to it as entering the land of hit and hope, I even had a 2 1/2 footer bounce dead right of the hole on Sunday...good thing I don't take this too seriously :o
  19. All you guys getting new irons ....sigh.......very cool tho..am curious to see how you end up liking them. I've got a TM 510 middie coming that I got for a song but think I'll need to reshaft it as is has a Harmon Tour Design GX x in it...all I know about that is what the website says but me thinks it a tad stiff for my 102 ss...we'll see. My Scratch wedges should be here soon which figures since I just got my wedge game going so I'll have to recalibate the distances... what'd you all think about the brew ha ha over the conditions at Shinnecock?
  20. It is Kathy Ireland Al.....one of my favs, right up their with Cheryl Tiegs.. how's your wrists doing? getting better I hope
  21. That just seems bizarre that a company with the hype machinery Nike has doesn't make a production out of any product launch. Priority issues perhaps, or internal chaos? That's a very attractive club, any chance of pics from other angles, say face and top view?

But but but we might offend somebody..... :-)
  23. Al, if you bury your foot aren't you afraid you'll hurt his ears? :surprize: I have a buddy who is getting used to new irons 3/4 in longer..takes a little work but he sures gets more consistant results...if those irons are anywhere near as solid as my 3 wood they'll be incredible.
  24. Have always been partial to Adidas shoes and some of those are interesting looking, especially the red ones on the lower shelf..I could blind my opponents...very nice pics and thanks for posting
  25. Mike, Fantastic :smile2: ...hope you keep playing well...nice to see that somebody can play this game..mine went south..but we'll try again sunday to see if can't fix things...right
