Piretti and Lajosi Putters : What's the deal?
Met up with a friend at a club fitter we both frequent and as I am looking for a second putter, I asked him to bring some of his stash just for me to try the feel and to see first hand the quality of finish. He showed up with 7 putters - a couple of SS303 Machines with VMG mill, a 365 grams 303 Slighter (not sure which model), a Nead Mini, a Byron Mini, a Lajosi Damascus and a Piretti (can;t remember the model). Appearance wise, what immediately caught my attention was the Slighter. It had a PZ like mill on the face. Finish was very nice. Nothing over the top just classy. Very dense feel with the 365 gram but the feel was a tad soft for me which is probably down to the deepish face mill. The Byron mini was also very very nice in appearance. Simple clean look and from what I can recall, no face mill. Overly firm feeling. The 2 Machines were as what they are, very industrial like in look. Interesting concept with the vast amount of interchangeability not that I think I'll need or use that feature too much. Felt good though. Nead Mini was a copper head. Didnt like the look, finish or feel at all. Lajosi Damascus was a Carbon Steel damascus with no face mill and felt ok. Stampings of his logo etc was very raw and less refined. Felt ok. Piretti.. for an off the rack putter, I must say, very nice and good. the 365 303 head had the firmest feel of all but had a good roll. For now, I have decided on a Machine so lets see how that custom process with them goes.

Ryoma D-1 V Type shaft
Hi, Welcome. Not an expert but I have played the LY01 Hot Black in the exact same flex. I don't imagine the 6.4 in the Hot Black will be too far away form the SR so I think that's a pretty good black. That said, I have not hit the stock shaft and know not its profile so its a guess. The LY01 HOT Black unlike the LY01 Nero or Noir, hits a tad lower and feels a tad stiffer as do most Black series crazy shafts. That said, its still a very playable shaft. I see we have another watch aficionado in our midst as well :-)

recommend graphite shaft for Mizuno MP59
Point of view noted jay. I think you come from what Tsg calls the overspec point of view where perhaps people tend to play stiffer than they should and I the opposite under spec view where perhaps the softer shafts that can still be controlled are preferred. No right or wrong just a preference. Finding that perfect equilibrium is of course not easy at all. For the OP, 140 yard or approx 127meters carry with a 7I, I'd rather confidently put to you that you are in the softer than r flex range and should consider as such to help with increasing your distance without too much apparent loss in dispersion for a swing speed as suggested by your 7i carry. Of course, what jay suggests that we have not seen your swing also holds very much as you may not be making good enough contact with the ball for any variety of swing reasons like me lol.

Well if r in steel was the right flex to begin with then yes. Also, not all graphite shafts play softer then steel shafts in the same weight and flex. That said, i would hazard a guess that most would as a general guide. But still ... why not soft step? And only for graphite or even steel?

Hi, Based on your 7i carry, regular flex is the stiffest you should play and maybe even consider soft stepping it once or twice. You may also want to consider lighter weight graphite shafts to help you generate a bit more head speed. If you want to consider graphite, I can whole heartedly recommend the quadra composite X52i series and you can choose from 80+ to 50+ gram weights. I would suggest maybe the 752i like I play as that won't be too radical a drop in weight from your ns pro 95. The 752is come only in regular flex and you can maybe soft step it once. I play the 752i tipped half inch and hard step once. Very nice shafts which are consistent, long enough and tight enough. Great feel. FYI, my 7i carry (my pw is 45 so that we can compare like loft for like loft as old school loft and current loft are as in my case, 1 club strong) about 159 yards or 145 meters.

Try dropping a PM to Tae. I believe he played it for a while. My only feedback from this from one short session into an indoor net is that this is VERY LOUD.

New Crazy 450
450 goes higher than the Maxima. Thats an interesting observation in isolation as several say Maxima launches higher than anything else they have loft for loft. Again, interesting in ISOLATION. What shaft have you got in the Maxima Craig?

I don't think it does anything performance wise. Just a look thing that one may want to play around with.

I recall reading that too Jay but if you look at them, both have "for Athlete Golfers" on the sole... could be a generic term but seems to be a leaf taken out of George Spirits/Takei.
