Hey gocchin, I thought she was your missus...???

Utilities
I liked the UX2 20* so much, I bought the 23* as well. I think the point is the hybrid revolution is here, and eventhough it was fun to crunch 1 irons when you're 17 years old, the 1 iron obsolete when you are 48 years of age.

shorter drivers
Assuming most of the posters are at least reasonable golfers, driver heads in the 205g range would be a significant benefit as I see it.

shorter drivers
Most driver heads are too light to get a decent swing weight at 44.5. The tour van drivers certainly sit squarer, however I think the real reason for the tour van driver, is the extra weight in the head. My driver is 44.5 and swings to at least D4. I'm very reluctant to change to something newer as I don't believe I will be able to find something with sufficient head weight. This is all personal taste of course, however I think it gives a reasonable answer to your question.

chikara wedges
I bought a Chikara and it. The only bad shots with the Chikara result from a very poor / disgraceful swing.....good swings, great results. Personally I like Carlton's story and the banter of The Hawaian guys who get to visit his shop. I would like to visit the shop if I ever get to Hawaii. .....oh yeah, you can get a set of custom made Titleist clubs for $10,000. The ones just like the pros play. On that basis the price of Carlton's product is reasonable. Each to their own, however Jack is at the point where he has the wedge he wants and is now going to be man enough to get a short game lesson to make it perform even better. .......every second bag has a set of Vokeys in it, haven't seen anyone else down under with a Chikara.

Good / interesting choice on the utilities.

Shaft length of utilities
Guys, I'm just tinkering with the shaft length of my utilities. Driver is 44.5", 3 wood 42.5" and 4 iron 38.5". My thought is 40.5" for the ut3 and 39.5" for the ut4. I just wonder what shaft length others have in their utilities and if there is a reason for the particular shaft length. I see the utilities as the transition between the woods and the irons and I think these shaft lengths are around the money, however I may stand corrected.

Utility/Hybrid to replace 3 iron
Not the latest, however I have the Mizubo UX 2s and enjoy them.

What Mizuno Blade is this?
I'm a bit of a Mizzy ho. In all honestly it looks like a custom version of the early models around the mp 11 or possibly the mp 9 That said, man if you like them... buy them, you won't be disappointed.

Japanese Pros and their Irons
Although it has been covered extensively before.... the demise of Gauge is an extremely sad event. What can I say the studio hand mades beat the Tiger...with some help from YE Yang. My view is it makes no sense for Japanese professionals to use Odyessy putters, with all the choice they have locally.

Golf Club Design
Tigers irons haven't changed much in 15 years...except for the stampings and what he gets paid to play them Tour van driver head weights are generally heavier and a little squarer than retail. As to whether or not this provides significant improvement is subjective. That said I my 510 from the Japanese tour van (none of that USA tour van junk for me ). The way I see it the real inovations in head design are for the hackers like me. My view has long been that Tiger would shoot even par with a stick of celery. Shafts are the big thing. I believe these are still improving.

Not withstanding the price, what makes them good or bad.

chikara wedges
There is a little bit of rust on mine, however the rust is far more subtle than traditional raw wedges and in my opinion looks pretty cool.

Weight, Length and CPM
Guys there seems to be some discussion recently about experimentation with hybrid shafts. I'm just curious to see what the overall picture is with the driver, 3 wood and utilities and what people are using and why. My driver is 44.5 inches, 3 wood 42.5 and I intend to put a 40.5 inch shaft in the 20* utility and 39.5 in the 23* utility. My first iron would be a 4 iron at 38.5 inches, as I have been recently fitted and told my 5 iron should be 38 inches. The driver shaft is 85g and cpm of 261. What I'm thinking is getting maybe a 75g and cpm around 250. 3 wood, 85g. Utilities 95 g.

Seida Wedge Refinish Pics
gocchin, how does the Gauge design by Carl compare with Chikara. It would be an interesting test, and you are just the man for the job.

MTI finally coming Retail!
Ditto!! I may stand corrected, however they do not appear to be in the same league as Chikara....but I am bias because I'm loving mine at the moment. Personally the Epons also look better to my eye.

One hybrid or two
....a long time go when the mates and I were kids we all carried 1 iron through to sand iron as a set. This was what Nicklaus used at the time, and hey if it was good enough for Jack, it was good enough for us. Suprisingly most of us hit the 1 iron very well. Even when I purchased my MP11s in 1992, it was the standard set 1 iron through to sand iron. Then came the stage of experimenting with the wedges. I think Tom Kite was the first to use the 52,56,60 combination. I did not have Tom's short game, but went through a number of wedges and combinations. Prior to joining the site, I had bought a generic hybrid just to give it a go and enjoyed it. The most significant purchase I have made in years was the Chikara 57*. This is a real gem, and as I said at the start, replaced my 56 and 60. The thing is this, everybodys set is a lot more interesting than what it was say 30 years ago. The evolution in equipment has provided lots of fun experimenting, and as one has aged the inovations to most part have produced results like you were still a kid when hitting the ball. I'm close to having my bag set for good ...well maybe... ...importantly most of what I now know I have learnt from TSG

One hybrid or two
Guys my Mizuno UX2 23* arrived today courtesy of a crazy golfer. I already have the UX2 20*. The reason I got the 23* was I got the Chikara 57*. The Chikara 57* replaced the old 56* and 60*. I was down to 13 clubs, so I thought why not get an extra hybrid. Question is how many hybrids do you carry??? .....if any

Are you kidding me TSG???????????????
