  1. If you're striping it, which I would consider 1 club longer 'stiping it', I'd leave well enough alone. I'd think that's pretty long already. If you feel your control is lacking, you can switch them out. Yes, I'm actually suggesting NOT changing. Guess I'm turning over a new leaf.
  2. Truer words have never been spoken. I am sorry for the loss you had to endure hip! :fever: Thanks bud! Yeah it sure stinks. Hard to describe, because we've all lost loved ones before, but you aren't constantly remined about it via tv, radio, the paper, politicians, etc. Just the way it is, and we have to deal with it. My father-in-law was my friend first (literally I knew him before my wife) and my golf partner. It stinks not having him around to share glorious golf days like yesterday. Make sure you cherish them, because you never know.
  3. This issue really hits home for me. My wife & I knew over 40 people killed that day, including my wife's beloved father, and her co-worker, who literally sat right next to her at work. My father-in-law sat on the 100th floor of Tower 1...he never stood a chance. While it's admirable to say 'let's show the terrorists who's boss', it is not reality. The only reason my father-in-law's company, Marsh (aka cheap bastards) occupied the upper floors of that tower is because the rental was cheaper than anywhere in lower Manhattan. Why was it so cheap? Because no one wanted to go up there after the '93 bombing. So the owner had to price the real estate at a hefty discount to get tennants. Bottom line is, you are never going to fill those towers again. No one will want to be up there, because it is NOT safe and those buildings will ALWAYS be a target. BTW, I believe the 'Freedown Tower' is also an eyesore. It will look out of place in lower Manhattan. If someone did not have development rights to the location, it would be a memorial. While ideal, I know this is not reality. The almighty dollar always prevails. Sad, really. THIS is reality.

  5. I thought I was in tight enough w/closest to the pin with 6'0", but the last group came along and some old fogey stuck one to 1'2". Denied!!!! I can't really complain, because I won the straightest drive at last year's outing, and won a golf bag and a wedge at the previous two. Fun day and I was proud of the way I played because my driving totally stunk. :poop: I'm playing a a club's member-guest tomorrow, so it's nice to be playing well going into that.
  6. Hey gents. Playing in my company's 70th Annual Charity Golf Classic yesterday. Beautiful course. Ballyowen in Northern NJ. After sucking it up last year big time with a 96, I played really well this time. Using the Callaway scoring system, if you play well enough, you can get into a playoff round of 8 golfers at a later date. Low Gross man and low gross woman get in, then the remaining 6 are Callawayers. I had two blow up holes. A triple bogey on a par five to start, then a ball in the water on a par three, which I then doubled. That actually fares well for the Cally system, though. I doubled a par 4 in addition to this. I coming down the stretch I new I was playing pretty well. I hit 11 GIR, and also stuck one to 6 feet on a closest to the pin hole, but I just couldn't hit any putts. I had 12 pars, which 4 of those having birdie opportunities within 20 feet. Very disappointing. I missed getting in the playoff round by one shot :( But, looking at the bright side, I shot 22 over par last weekend. Yesterday, I shot 12 strokes better on a tougher layout. This proves one thing... I have to drink beer on the course more often! :beer2: :beer2: :beer2: http://www.crystalgolfresort.com/Content/C...asp?SID=2&CID=1

I have 2 FUTs. Both NS Pro Steel. The 16° has a FW shaft in it so it plays a little longer, more like a 1 iron or 5 wood. Other is a 19° w/stock. Plays just like a 3 iron. Awesome club. Great off the tee, fairway, rough and sand. Fantastic chipping club too. Just ridiculously easy to hit from anywhere. Never tried graphite, but never cared for graphite in any hybrid I've hit.
  8. I'm in the same boat. It's the worst. Not to say I'm the best golfer, but I have a friend who has debilitated into a complete hack. When I play in the same foursome, my game goes down to his level. Of course it's only a mental thing, but mentality is a big part of golf.
  9. Porn? I'm sorry, but I'm not familiar with that term. For I am just a simple Quaker with WiFi access. :smile1:
  10. Crazy day today. I am contemplating just quitting at work tomorrow, the conditions are so bad. Consequently, my mind's going nuts, but I'm REALLY happy, b/c I see freedom around the corner. Anyway, today I start off with a triple. Then par the next two. Bogey, Par, then the wheels fall off. Shoot a 50 on the front w/3 triples!!! I tell my friend. "Who cares? I feel like I'm going to have a great back 9. So, back nine, I fire a 40 w/two doubles!. Totally different round. 3 putts burned the edge too. So do I quit tomorrow? I don't know.
  11. That's one hell of a grandma, chain. Most have 1988 Chevy Impalas w/jive-ass hubcaps.

Ladies and gentlemen, presenting the "Tour vs. Retail Debate" equivalent of TSG... :blackeye:
  13. I haven't stopped staring at the second pic long enough to tell you...
  14. The Miura wedges are definitely a nice choice. I had a 52. I didn't find myself using it too often. It spins a lot.
  15. same here. double on the first even though i placed it in the fairway. a bogey on a easy par 5. missed birdie at 10. missed par at 11 a par 3. i could have esily shot 77-78. instead of 83. i pasted a drive about 275 on the 10th too. came within 30 yards of flag. course rating was 67.2 slope was 122. Mine was 69.3/126. The greens sucked too. Heavily sanded and aerated. It was like putting on "Lite Brite." Highlights of the round included my friend hitting a 6 iron shot on one bounce into the dead center of someone's back. What a thump! Also, my other friend drove an uphill, 340 yard green, and missed a hole in by inches. The rolled past the flag and settled just 10 ft. from the cup. The other foursome was just leaving the green when they saw it. They actually cheered.
  16. I too share everyone's pain. Opened with a double, for no good reason. Next par, then go on "Bogeyfest 2005" until parring the ninth, although I slaughtered a drive and then stuck a wedge to 8 feet. Crusing along on the back with pars. Hit the fringe on a downhill 305 par 4 and miss a bird. Then comes 16 -- a looooong uphill par 5 beast. Although it's 78° out today, I manage to get a snowman  , then bogey 17 (a GOOD bogey, too). I get to 18 and duck hook a drive, first one all day, into a lake. Hit three off the tee and let out a big grunt when I hit it. Hit a 6 iron to 15 feet and two jack for a double. Friggin' 87. My ballstriking was 'on' too, just my aim was way off. If I can do ever 1 putt, it will be a minor miracle.
  17. I have one word of advice for you: Just get a nice driver that fits your eye...open, closed, square, whatever. And then put the right shaft in it. I have found the best combo in a Nak 380 w/Fuji 27.3. That shaft is inexpensive, but the results are just so damn good for my swing. Cost doesn't mean jack.
  18. Awesome bag, chain!
  19. I don't mind them looking into new rules/limits on technology. The slothlike bureacracy that is the USGA has to get with the times somehow.

I've heard that Miura forges his blades from several people.
  21. This is a great contest. Let me go stake my tomato plants with my Trusty Rusty... Chris, was that wedge recovered with the Titanic? I
  22. Tour Tempo is awesome. Simpleist, most effective instructional method I've ever seen. It's worth it just for the cd.
  23. Your girl is so ugly, she could make a freight train take a dirt road.
  24. Give 'em hell, Shoe!!! OK, I'm getting real antsy (sp?) now, b/c it's only 15 days 'til Myrtle Beach! We're in the middle of a foot of fresh powder in Jersey, so I can't wait to get out of here (actually, it doesn't even have to be snowing for me to what to get out of this damn state  ) So, I think the bag is set: 9.5° Nak 15° Nak reshafted with Nippon NS Pro GT 700 16° TourStage FUT reshafted w/NSPro 950 FW 19° TourStage FUT 4-PW Forged SS 54° Vokey reshafted w/NSPro 1050 59° Zodia US Spec shafted w/NSPro 1050 Big Ben I think that's 14...Anyway, No Gap wedge for me right now. I have a 50° Phil Rodgers which has the same sole grind as the irons, basically, but has a much heavier shaft than the others, so I think it'll be left at home. Everything I listed as being reshafted is being done as we speak, so I haven't hit them yet. I'm really cutting it close. I always get so psyched to play down in Myrtle, but it's the first rounds of the year...it's St. Patty's day...I wind up shooting like 91 every day. :tired: Maybe I can break that streak this year...
