  1. Oh, I see. I misunderstood that the above was the result of actual test data. Was wondering what kind of pro swings at 86mph? whilst this is still useful, its subjective information. Actual test data would be interesting and I'm sure would confirm the high praise the Epon & Tourstage receive.
  2. Interesting, and congratulations to Epon and Tourstage for producing a clearly outstanding product, but what kind of pro has clubhead speed that slow? Most single digit amateurs swing a 5 iron faster than that? Is there ratings for 115 mph? That would be more useful.
  3. Everyone must be thinking the same thing! I was always a 2iron - PW guy 'till one round last year I borrowed my brothers 5 wood, really just to try something new, and because he kept bugging me to try his new club. I hit some amazing mis hits that sailed 220m straight into the middle of the green (2nd shot par 5). Had I mis hit a 2iron that badly, the ball would have gone maybe 180, low and ugly. I was sold right there and then. I currently play; 3 wood (15*) 240m 7 wood (20*) 220m / 19* hybrid if the wind is strong and have just received a 22* hybrid head the 7 wood goes miles in the air, even with a Ti46X, and just drops, perfect my my home course. The 19* hybrid goes a tad longer and flatter which is better when the wind is up (Perth is the 3rd windiest city in the world) I am hoping the 22* will travel 200m on a medium trajectory. I anticipate playing 4-P, 55,60 or 5-P, 50, 55 & 60. depending on the course / conditions.

There seems to be sets for sale everywhere.....here, WRX, ebay.......... have they not lived up to expectation? Just curious because I am about to buy a set of new irons and would prefer the R7 forged.

I'm looking to determine what if any mods I would need to make to a set of R7 forged but cant find the specs? Anybody?
  7. Thanks for the feedback guys. I guessed the jacket is an older model if it is on ebay, however I like the plain all black look, the new one looks a bit too fussy for my taste, much like a lot of the newer TM gear in general. I buy pretty much all my golf and fishing equipment from either the US or Japan and have never had a problem. Whilst I like TM stuff, I'm not set in my ways, as you can see by my WITB, I like the older model 300 irons, I haven't found a model, TM or otherwise that I prefer. I have never found a TM driver that I like much. And yes, I'm in the process of re working my specs (changed my swing) for a set of r7 forged and some Epon woods! Anyway, is there an online store that I can buy Japanese clothing?

Are these readily available from Japan Stores? Would someone please help me locate one? This guy wont send to Australia.......... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...A:IT&ih=011
  9. I love Mizuno, I just wish I was still good enough to use my beloved MP-29's........ the proposed combo set may be just the shot?

Gocchin, I'm betting you have some comparison pictures? top line, face, sole and from the toe would be interesting to compare the three.
  11. I would be most interested to hear your tips for such great driving?
  12. awsome Chris....still working out which shaft for my TB-1000's
  13. You know I am!
  14. What do you mean by stable Chris? Would this head cave more easily?
  15. EPONfreak replied to threejack's post in a topic in Buy, Sell, & Trade
    I wish.......I'm already into a set of TB-1000 & R7 forged.......some Miura heads and maybe MB TP's........damn this game.......... :tsg_smilie_rolleyes:
  16. Scuff?? That's no good at all.........especially given that my wedges seem to accidently keep wacking my bag......... :tsg_smilie_rolleyes:

They do look similar........ trouble is, you need 2 sets! one to admire and the second to hit! :tsg_smilie_money3:

Thanks, They are very nice irons. I was never a fan of "players CB's" and preferred muscleback irons. I found what was produced as a players CB was too small, I just didn't like the look or feel, I preferred Mizuno MP-29 and MP-14. The only trouble with these is that it is difficult to hit the long irons on a very high trajectory into hard and fast greens with tucked pins. As such, when the '29's wore out I thought RAC LT's would be the go and indeed it was too easy to hit 3 iron miles in the air. I became frustrated with not being able to manage the trajectory of short irons as well as I would have liked. I didn't like the CB irons that were part of TM combo set so I didn't know what to do. I was considering going back to Miz blades and maybe keeping the LT 2 & 3 iron. Then a firend suggested trying the 300's, a set I hadnt previuosly used as when this set came out I was just starting and bought LCG's. Anyway, very happy with the 300's. I will try the r7 forged. Also interested in MB's and maybe making my dream combo set..........
  19. I agree with your comments and also those of Chris. Although I am nowhere near your standard of +2 (mate quit your day job :tsg_smilie_cool: ) I have never struck the ball as well with CB's as blade profile iron. I came to the conclusion that it is the off-set, bounce and sole grind for me that makes the difference. I went from MP-29 to RAC LT when I had a bad run with the MP 2 & 3 irons.....Although really nice irons, I became frustrated with my LT's not being able to produce the trajectory I liked. I have never been much of a fan of blade profile CB's untill I got these 300's - perfect (for me) the TM combo of a few years ago was OK but I didnt like that CB in that set.......I would ideally like a combo set with blades as the scoring clubs. The 300's are pure and I will be excited to try the R7's which Chris assures me are even better. I also tried a tour players (high world ranking) blade a few years back.......this was no butter knife.......thich top line...a tad offset.....thicker sole than standard..........a whole lot of metal in there! Perfect! My thoughts are that a neo-style blade or a CB similar to the 300's / r7 forged are the go.........
  20. With all the advances in technology it seems odd that steel driver shafts have increased in use? You would recon that no one would use steel in a driver anymore now that we can get heavy graphite and advances in club building knowledge? Any one else find this strange?
  21. white for me! - price??
  22. Agreed. I had always regarded myself as a poor fairway wood player, which was very frustrating because I hit long irons very well. All this changed when I got a 3 wood with an 85g shaft (Fujijura Zcom Pro80). Now I get fantastic results and look forward to pulling the 3 wood! Definately need weight in a fairway wood shaft.
  23. Until 2008!..............Yep they're fine to use down here.......though everyone seems to be using .83.....I hit some silly long drives with my .86 R580, the shaft isn't as good as I use now so I cant really compare...I could definately notice the sweet spot on the .86 - when I hit it! What's this down the middle business? Isn't that a boring way to play golf? :tsg_smilie_whistle:
  24. I'm about to buy an Epon w/ Axiv V-spec without having seen it..........and GFt.......TB1000.......etc etc....pls help me.......

Hi, I have been keenly looking at all the wonderful collections in this thread and thought I would add mine. I am currently in discussions with Chris about some amendments and setting up a second bag, which will be all Japanese gear. My current bag includes; Tour Cleveland Launcher Comp 460cc 9.5* Fujikura Zcom MW74 X 45" Tour Taylormade r7 TP 15* Fujikura Zcom Pro80 X Tour Taylormade Rescue 3fw 19* Fujikura Speeder 904HB X tour spec Tour Taylormade Miura forged 300 3-P True Temper Tour Concept X1 (soft stepped) Tour Titleist Vokey SM254.10 hand ground hand stamped True Temper Tour Concept S3 Custom Vokey SM260.04 'M' grind True Temper Tour Concept S3 Scotty Cameron Studio Design 2.5 Scotty Custom Shop 'Sublime Lime' grip & cover All have Tour Velvet grips, 2 'papers', irons +1/4" all clubs (except wedges) D3 I was lucky in that I bought all this in one foul swoop and was able to get the equipment direct from tour players and had it custom built and blueprinted to my specs by a very well known club builder....artist really. I change rescue/2iron depending on conditions. I have a few Camerons that I rotate after a poor day on the greens........gota be the club's fault right :tsg_smilie_rolleyes: * I love TC shafts, especially the easy launch long iron, too easy to hit * I will only ever own forged blade profile irons, after toing and froing.......striking is so much better * I had no idea what a huge difference custom/blueprinted equipment makes prior to this set * No wonder pros spin the ball so much with their wedges.......these really really spin (as you guys know). * imediate increase in distance, accuracy and workability Changes to this bag up coming......... * I will change out the driver to a TM 460 TP with Rombax shaft (love the comp but.....something new) * I completely suck with a rescue - will add a 5w to match my 3w * Chris assures me r7 forged are better than my 300's so may get a set of those, might try TT BG * Some TM TP Jap wedges * Adidas Black flag bag (any danger of TM making a stylish bag???????) My proposed 'Japanese Bag' Still working on the composition of this bag, once decided (soon) I'll get hold of the gear!! going for a slightly different make up, leaving out 3i and adding a wedge, going for 4 & 7 woods. See how we go.......feel a bit nervous stepping onto the course without a 2 or 3 iron as security! Epon 460 9.5* Axiv V-spec G-Field GFT 16* Diamana Red M83 G-Field GFT 20* Diamana Red M83 Fourteen TB-1000 forged 4-P TT TC (Satin) X1 Soft stepped) Epon X 50* Epon X 55* Epon X 60* not sure which putter......something from Gauge..... Tourstage stand bag in white (I think) Enjoy the pics of my current rig......I'll post new pics as I make changes........thanks for looking :tsg_smilie_wink: PS - IF ANYONE KNOWS HOW TO MAKE THE PICS SMALLER - PLS PM ME - THX
