  1. Excellent report. I'm looking forward to my 202 HT / QT combo. Given all the strong recommendations for the EGG, I just might have to put the 2 head to head for myself. If I like the CB50 in my 102 (on the way) then I will also try to FW80 in either or both FW's.
  2. new bags will be fantastic, plenty of room for a bottle (or two) of Laphroaig Spoon! (my fav scotch at the moment too!)
  3. yes, I'm going to be experimenting with fairway woods and fairway wood shafts this year. GD QT first.......highly likely to give Crazy a run too, assuming the CB50 in the driver impresses me.
  4. correct, 102 is a typo, the new fairway woods are 202. 102 is infact the new driver. I like Epon designations, easy to follow........mostly. :)
  5. even among professional golfers, the 3 wood is the most difficult club to form a 'relationship' with. You will see many older models in pro's bags (and some old models painted and stamped like new current under current model head covers too!) if you have a 3 wood that you like, stick with it, if not, keep changing every few months, you'll find one. A pro friend of mine took 4 years to settle on his club.....then broke the head..... cant wait for my 202 HT with QT.......... very excited
  6. thanks, I like high launch and strong flight, the Altus LT has been very good in this regard but just wanted to try something else for comparison and the GD range has always interested me being so widely accepted on tour. Out of interest, I prefer an SX flex in fairway woods, in GD shafts specifically the QT would S-flex or X flex be the go?
  7. Hi, I'm looking to try something new in my upcoming AF202 fairway woods. Ofcourse the Crazy FW80 springs to mind especially as I'm going crazy in the driver. I'm also interested in GD, being a top Japanese company that I haven't tried (except the YS series which I hated) Has anyone used both the standard QT and the SF in fairway woods? If so, were there pronounced differences? Thanks for any thoughts.

likewise, the list of bad forged blades would be shorter if you want a process of elimination....... I will say that I cant recall preferring a set more than my current set.
  9. lots.......but what price would you put on hitting par 5's in 2 more often? Like anything else, you get what you pay for, the 202 represents the pinacle of material, design and manufacturing.
  10. Ditto! The 'HT' will be in my bag asap. Still delighted with the 201 5 wood. Between the new fairway wood and another new product coming soon :) I recon my bag of Epon clubs (including 102 on the way) will be the absolute pinacle of what is available from Japan.
  11. awsome club is that 266 with a 7" clamp (Japanese style) or with a 5" clamp (US style)? 266 CPM seems very high for a SR flex! I will be getting the CB50 but want 260-265CPM (5" clamp) which is usually X of SX flex so I would like to verify! thanks.

Thanks T, Is the Z-Star XV different / significantly different from the Z-Star X Tour played by Furyk, Clark, Stenson, Vijay etc?

Hi guys, I'm after some thoughts of those that have used both the B330 tour and the Japanese super newing brill. What differences do you notice? Driver launch, spin? Iron trajectory? Short game spin? Putting feel? Obviously I currently play and am very happy with the B330 tour but am also curious as to whether the JDM ball market can benefit me as much as the equipment has.
  14. sounds like you'll need to hit lay up tee shots with your 5 wood. In terms of flight, what do you notice between QT and QT MD? I ask because if I get an EGG 15* I had in mind the standard QT.
  15. Geez idrive, what are you doing? I wanted to wait for the 202, but you comments re the EGG are making it impossible! :)
  16. Gold, absolute Gold.......... (no offence) :) and yes, if your miss is on the toe, and Epon 302 would be better. I have actually been mucking around with both the 502 and 302 and at least for me the 302 gives me 95% of the advantages of the blade but 20% more forgiving.

have you got 2 of the winwin fairway covers? If so, I'll take them. PM me.

My Epon stand bag is the same as non JDM stand bags owned in the past, no issue with clubs sticking up too much.
  19. likewise!
  20. I think idrive had one arriving today, no doubt he's dashed to the driving range to give it a wack, I look forward to his thoughts
  21. oh...............I dont think I should be this 'excited' by golf clubs?????????? that is an excellent Blog Chris. I have recently had a similar experience when demoing the 502's with a customer. I hit a few shots with the 502 7 iron which went miles which really caught my attention I can tell you. I'm normally not a short hitter, stock 7 iron with the AF-Tour is 160m (175 yards) and I was 15% longer again with the 502. Although I got the 'lefts' a bit due to the demo clubs being fitted with KBS Tour 90 R flex shaft as opposed to my KBS Tour 5.5's the 502's were exceptional and a definate improvement in feel terms over the prior 501. I also hit a poor shot out of the toe and suprisingly the ball flew truely settling only a couple of metres from where the pure strikes were landing. Despite the AF-Tours being very forgiving for a MB blade, had I struck the ball that poorly I would have been penalised 1/2 - 3/4 club. I'm certainly motivated to get a complete set of 502's built for myself because of this experience. The only issue I would need to sort out is clubbing with the short irons...........
  22. At the end of the day that's 100% correct, if it performs that well, I wouldnt care if it sounded like a fog horn so long as I hit the target!
  23. Can the EGG be hotmelted to mute the sound?
  24. Wow, that compact! So similar profile size wise to AF-Tour? Personally, I don't like CB's smaller than say a 302, preferring a muscle back, they just seem to feel more solid than equivalently sized CB's. No doubt these PRGR's are fantastic and will deservedly be highly sought after.
  25. yep, dont even think of putting a bad swing on it. I dont have any trouble with the 18* 5 wood but certainly the 15* 3 wood is very demanding. I have no idea what the 202 will bring. I, like you, am hoping for a shallower face and lower & deeper CG whilst retaining that distinct pure feel that Epon brings to the table.
