  1. Do you have a picture? Do they look like this picture? likely forged by Endo in Japan. Yamaha keeps their catalogs online. See this link: http://www.yamaha.co.jp/product/golf/products/catalog/index.html
  2. Carlo, I am installing the QFE this week in my Yamaha head. I bought the SR flex to install as I am hoping to see long distance but retain the accuracy due to the high carbon content. Tario and I discussed. My SS is around 97 with a average tempo. I tend to release a little early. For me I didn't have the lag for the Proto. On a side note, I played the DI6 stiff in the 102 when it was first released. Great combo. The shaft stiffness worked well for me.
  3. If I were to rank my preference with strong/weak points, I would say: 1st - Too early to tell, but between the 2008 and 2011 models. The 2008s were easy to hit and soft/solid period. The 2011s seem to have the same. My guess is it is the quantity of meat behind the ball. 2nd - 2009 - Still pretty good but not 2008 level. 3rd - 2010 - Least forgiving. Hardest to hit flush.
  4. I finally had a chance to play these. 4 rounds in Florida. Windy each round but one. Having owned 4 model years in a row, these are probably the easiest or second easiest to play. The 2008 and 2011 are the easiest. I joke that the 2008s and 2010s had babies. Feel is very solid crisp yet soft. Ball flight strong, spin good as I didn't miss the grooves of the past. For me much improved in all respects than the 09-10 versions. A+ I imagine the non tour version is stellar also.

I too would like to know. I like the looks ofit however not sure about the .350 hosel.
  6. I am in search of a few hybrids. This is the first year I have dropped my 4 iron from the lineup. I haven't heard too much talk about JDM hybrids here on the forum. What, why do you play the hybrid?
  7. Over the years I have reflected on the design. I have come to the conclusion that the 2008 model was the easiest to hit. It is possible Yamaha created a hybrid of designs to add some forgiveness back. I am speculating though.
  8. Slightly. They seem to be so in the longer irons but maybe not in the shorter irons.
  9. I really want to install some high end graphite shafts. As soon as I can find some real info on the latest wave of shafts, I will pull the trigger.
  10. Here are some pics of my 2011 Yamaha Tour Model custom order irons. Ordered with KBS Tour 90 S flex shafts. As you know (or may not), I have owned the Tour Model for each year since 2008. I love the design and performance of the Yamaha equipment. I aspire to have a complete Yamaha bag one day. In comparison of each model year, these look like the 2008 and 2010 models had babies. The 2011 shows characteristics of each year. The 2011 shares the same minimal offset, small head size, thin topline, triple grind sole as the others. The 2011 looks as though they redesigned the toe area. The PW looks a little taller. It is winter here, so I haven't played them yet. I hope to squeeze some range time in next week. Enjoy! Excuse my camera as I used my cell phone to save some time. 5 Iron PW
  11. Nick, Comparing the 701 and Yamaha is like comparing a shovel vs a ping pomg paddle. The size is much different. The non tour version is smallish mid size with offset and the tour is small head with slight offset. See Gocchin's tes notes Fat Man has linked. I would think the non tour would be a better move than the tour as I think the move to the Tour would be too drastic. You ma be able to handle the Tour, but it may be a big size shift from 701 to Tour.
  12. Interesting. My experience with the Yamaha drivers is that stiff tip shafts will result in strong fades. IMO they like mid torque shafts with mid soft tips.

With the numerous choices of grip, JDM and US manufacture, what grip do you play? Please complete a poll and list what you play and why in the response.
  14. I am selling an extra JPGA Mitsubishi Bassara Tour Prototype Griffin Shaft. It is brand new and uncut. I am currently using one in my Yamaha Inpres 4.6 with V rpm driver and have so since release. It is a great shaft for me with a super smooth feel and loads of kick. Check out the forums for feedback. PRICE: $350 "Mitsubishi Rayon releases their best performing Bassara shaft ever in 2009. The new Griffin Series not only looks good with its all new stunning graphics but for the first time, Mitsubishi has released a mainstream shaft with more flexes to meet the needs of a wider range of players who want a lighter performance shaft. The Griffin is a sub 60g shaft that is designed to create a overwhelming sense of acceleration on the downswing, creating increased swing speeds and ball speeds with the end result being more distance. The Griffin features a new Super Elastic Fiber tip which accelerates the head to meet the ball at proper loft and impact. The Griffin creates a low spin trajectory for big carry and roll out. Mitsubishi considers this their longest lightweight carbon shaft ever. The Super Elastic Fiber features a special titanium alloy which has a property that allows the shaft to retain its original shape immediately after being loaded (flexed) with energy. What this translates into is a high rebound release with no loss of energy on the downswing. The Griffin with its strong kick and performance still emphasizes control. With mid range torque numbers that translate into feel NOT loss of accuracy, the Griffin has a stiffer butt than the Falcon and Hawk which equal more control. Overall profile is shown in the chart below with a tip flex between Falcon and Hawk, a softer mid section which produces distance and kick and feel, and the stiffer but for control." Here is the link to the Proshop listing and information on the shaft. http://www.tourspecgolf.com/Mitsubishi-Bassara-Tour-Prototype-Griffin

Supo, PM me. Mine is not an olkder version. It is a 2010.
  16. I typically sell off what I have and replace with the latest. Contact me if interested.
  17. As you would expect I am waiting not so patiently. Typically Yamaha doesn't let any news out until November. Then be ready to buy.
  18. How about the GR forged iron?
  19. FYI - Shingo M-6 is Roddio M-series. How is the Shingo spec shaft different from the M-6 available retail?

Guys, I don't have any experience with the 2010 models because all my experience is with the 2009 4.6V rpm. I have written extensively about this driver. It is still in the bag despite trying numerous other head and shaft combos. I can't comment on the new 2010 however the 2009 is the real deal in all regards. It obviously is a tough club for me to beat.
  21. For sale is a practically brand new PRGR Egg Spoon 13* with the just released Matrix Radix 7 shaft. Shaft uncut was 75.5g. This club is one week old and just built with the Matrix shaft, pured and flo'd. It is perfect in every way and almost indistinguishable from brand new. 9.9/10. Hit maybe 10 times on the course. You know all about the Egg Spoon. The new RADIX HD line has benefited from the application of the tour proven HD internal design. RADIX is Latin for “base” or “root.” The “base” for RADIX is the HD Design, giving RADIX HD the most advance internal structure technology in its class. Along with the HD internal platform, this design introduces a new approach to progressive Tip-to-Butt Ratio design. Unlike conventional designs, which do not increase tip stiffness as butt stiffness is increased, the RADIX HD introduces a unique design that guarantees the same tip-to-butt stiffness ratio throughout the flexes. Since the ratio remains intact, ball flight is progressively flattened as the overall flex stiffens. Here are the build specs: Final Spec's: Length: 42.75" Swing Weight: D2 Shaft cpm: 258.31 (Avg of 10) Shaft tipped: 1" per Matrix Tour Velvet ribbed/black Includes factory headcover. $475 shipped in CONUSA. Contact me about shipping elsewhere.

There are quite a few posts about my 2009 Yamaha Inpres 4.6V rpm driver on TSG. I have been playing it since release and no other driver has been able to match its feel, traditional shape, and performance. I started with the stock Rombax 6Y09 and quickly replaced it. I have had the following shafts installed over time: Ozik Xcon5, Motore Speeder, Crazy TJ-46. I have taken out and reinstalled the JPGA Bassara Griffin 3 times. This is the current setup and is the best combo for me. It is a mid launching, penetration setup. Distance is second to know and control is great. Since shafts are so player specific, I won't talk too much about the shaft. I can honestly say I prefer the feel of this head over any I have ever tested. Only the Epon AF102 comes close in feel. I super solid soft positive feel not mushy. Just pure joy. Some like a more crisp feeling though. So far each time I stray, I come back to this driver and it fits like a pair of old shoes. Not that other drivers are bad, but I haven't found one that performs so well for me in all areas. I do believe that the 09 has been tested and rated and come up at the top or close to it it many publications. I am not aware of anyone else here having an 09. When I though the post office lost my Yamaha, I tried to find a replacement. Gocchin could find some used ones in Japan. They were still fetching very high prices. I don't know much about the 2010 models, but I think a few have been purchased here and there are mixed reviews. Try one and let us know!
