Akira 3w M215 Joins Baby Brother and Sister
After a few months of patiently waiting, the 3 wood has arrived. With three rounds under my belt, I can say that it performs every bit as well as the 5 & 7 woods. At 15* it works well off the deck and tee. It has a very similar shape as the others just slightly larger. Performance is spot on. You have read my raves about the 5 and 7 and the 3 is no different. I can honestly say these are firmly in the bag and I will not be looking for replacements anytime soon. The bad thing is that you may be too late to buy these. Do yourself a favor and get what is left.

My Epon 502's Vs OnOff ????
Dale, As I posted some time ago i had each side b y side. The Onoff with NSPRO950 stiff and the 502s with KBS Tour R shafts. Looks are subjective and I could play either. I do not recall either having much offset but the Onoff maybe a tad less. In the feel department, the Onoff was alive feeling. The Epon was dead feeling. Performance wise, both worked well. Overall preferred the Onoff. Enough to make a change? I don't know. If you are the type of person that mentally would enjoy the change and likes to tinker, go for it.

High Launch and Low Spin
Is this still the preferred combo for distance without wind? As most know I have the 2009 10* Yamaha Inpres 4.6V RPM with Quadra Proto FE 65SR shaft. I have been playing this head on and off since release. A few friends of mine have similar combos in different flexes. One of the better players has said that teeing the ball high has resulted in some killer drives. Over the last two rounds I have teed it up high. 1/2 the ball above the top edge. Well I have been killing it with this setup. The trajectory is noticeably higher, however the ball just soars and carries forever. I also notice that control is better. I don't know why I have not found this out before, but it works so well. Thoughts?

OnOff 2011 Forged Irons
The 2011 Forged irons are top notch. As far as the shafts, if you like the 850s in regular then the 950s stiff stiff doesn't seem like the right idea.

Quadra Proto DGL-115S Iron Flex?
I have been eye balling these graphite iron shafts for a looong time. I can't seem to satisfy my head on the flex rating of these. Their website says a 7I would have an approximate cpm of 350. Obviously that depends on length, head weight, etc. How do you interpret this information? Sounds super stiff to me. Has anyone read anything about these? Otherwise they sound great with 118g and Zylon tip whixh should be so smoooth.

Mine is 45". The 2 guys with the SX and X are 45.5".

EPON 380/360 GDP9003X + DI8S install
Spoon, I agree with the increase in shaft weight. The Yamaha 4.6v heads are 202g which is on the heavy side but since they work so well with the Quadra shafts I am thinking the shaft profile likes the heavy heads. Since you Epon is heavy maybe you will experience the same.

Stew, I haven't tried the 440 however there are now 5 Yammys in my group (2 with Quadra FEX and 3 with Quadra FEX Protos) and within 20 miles of each other. One guy is hitting the Inpres 4.6V on a rope 320. His son hits it even further. They play a SX and X flex respectively. It is a beautiful sight. For me, it is a control monster. I don't know if it is the longest shaft out there, but it is plenty long for me. The ability to hit fairways is staggering though. I think the secret is stepping down 1/2 flex. I did it with an SR, and the 2 big hitters did it also. One guy who has a strong natural draw, opted for a stronger flex in the non proto and it straightened him out. So IMO, yes it songs in the Yammy.

The Quadra Proto will be a great "___________". I started to say experiment, but mean experience. I love mine in the Yamaha. It is so satisfying to hit and will take anything I can give it. I swear that I have put a slice swing on it and seen the ball start to curve right and then stop and go straight. It is the damndest thing.

Akira Fairway Review 18* and 21* - First 36 Holes
Yea I am curious also because if the 3w is anything like the others, then I will have concluded a lifelong search for fairway woods I can actually play. The 3w has been on order for a month. I don't know if they are sold out due to popularity or some other reasons. My friend who has been witness to countless successful shots with these refuses to hit the clubs because as he puts it, "I don't have money for any more clubs. "

Tour only proto Matrix Ozik program 130 iron shafts
Super stiff, even the Matrix claims so. The torque ratings are astronomically low.

If you look closely you can see the engraving on the top ridge of the cavity that says "Tour Model"

2012 Yamaha Inpres X ??
I assume he is also baggin the new woods, etc. The other pics on wrx show him swinging a driver with a Mits shafts. Grey flower butt end with a white lower.

2012 Yamaha Inpres X ??
The more I look at these, the more I feel they are a big design move from the others. There is a ton of meat in the bottom of the club plus they have added the steps design along the out edge of the cavity (similar to Epon 302). Looks like they also spread the meat out towards the heel and toe. Very clean looking and exciting to see.

YAMAHA irons
Stew, Yep that is how I see it however it has been so long since I hit the 08s. The 11s are great in every respect. The 08s a touch more forgiving in the lower irons. The 7+ I would rate very close to one another. Awesome either way.
