Quadra Proto. A mid trajectory launch but much more user friendly. SX flex.

Got to hit my new Ryoma/Crazy
8-10 yards is significant. 1 club less into the green.

Flex options
There I some common information in this thread. 1) 3 woods are tough to hit and shafts are tough to find for them. 2) Dale is going through the process, as any of us have, somewhat blind. 3) Hunting and pecking for the right shaft is expensive and produces erratic results. 4) Proper fitting is a good investment. How about taking your current setup to a fitter that knows shafts and find out where it is failing you. Find a trackman or similar and start there. It likely will educate you beyond just the three wood. IMO, the Epon 3w is not that easy to hit.

Please tell me about The Crazy 460
Yes we must ask. What was wrong with the Ryoma? What did and didn't it do? Shaft?

Flex options
I think there is some great info in each of these posts. The 3w isn't likely to have the swing speed or as aggressive transition as the driver. Also it is likely that you need a slightly softer flex as well as more torque. Each time I have found that I block a club consistently, that is where I look. In my case, I have backed down 1/2 flex and stayed in the magic torque numbers of 3.6+ on my driver shafts. Maybe install the 3w long and soft and test. You can always tweek the length and tip to add some stiffness, etc. Save your money and get into another Fire Express. The failure with the 9003 and DI shaft tells you something.

Dale, To help you find a suitable shaft, provide mor details about what you are trying to accomplish, what you will be installing it in, what had and what has no worked. Include realistic swing information such as tempo, swing speed, approach angle, etc. Shaft mistakes are costly!

Yamaha 2012 Products Launch Thread
Stew, Let's be honest. There was no way in hell you were NOT going to buy the 2012 model. Will your likey of the others, you can't and couldn't resist. Hell would you really pass on a proven winner to buy something else? Have fun.

yamaha forged.
The short irons have the same square shape. I don't think Shimada from the factory is available. Go to the Yamaha site and chooaebtgeblink on the right for catalogue. Download it and you can see the custom shafts, lengths and swing weights for all options. TSG can build you a set also.

Be careful not to add yourself to the long list of those that didn't by Yamaha until it was too late. The Tour model will sell out within days if not already sold out. If you look for my posts over the years (2007 onward) you will see pics and reviews for each model year. I have owned them all. If you have the ability to play the model you buy, them you will find the Yamaha irons as the best ever or damn close. Likely there is someone hoping you don't buy the last set so they can.

Yamaha 2012 Products Launch Thread
Seems like this is the same discussion year after year starting in 2007 when I bought the 2008 model. So many have been resistant to jump on the Yamaha train. Maybe it is because they are such a diversified company producing everything from amplifiers to medical equipment. As Yamaha's biggest fan, do yourself a favor and get onboard!

Crazy Royal Decoration and CRZ-460 Review
I was just thinking about that idea the other day when considering colors for the Ryoma Gold head.

Ryoma Special Tuning Hi Cor - Who is ordering?
Makes sense. If the shaft is stable and kicks as hard as they claim, why not. I need to consider swing weight though as I don't want to get too long or too light.

Flashback Review - 2009 Taylor Made Burner Forged w/ Crazy CBI-02 Shafts
I recently purchased this set from Tario. The set consist of 2009 TM Burner Forged irons, 5-PW with Crazy CBI-02 regular flex graphite shafts. My main purpose of buying these was to try out the Crazy graphite shafts. I have been patiently watching for reviews of graphite irons shafts, however I haven't really seen very many. I have hit about 300 range balls and played 3 rounds of mountain golf with these. What a pleasant surprise. Lets talk about the heads first: First rate. I heard nothing but great things when these were released. I didn't have much interest as I was never a TM guy. What I found were nicely shaped heads, not too large, small offset, moderate top line, and nice feel. After a few range balls, I said to myself, "I could play these with no problem." Coming from my Yamaha Tour irons, I thought playing these would be a stretch. I found them to be very forgiving. Almost to the point, that I have found myself in a pickle. I didn't buy these to ultimately keep them, but I am not sure why I would sell them either. Shafts - A strange, but friendly monster. I didn't know what to expect. Having played the KBS shafts since early 2007, I was used to their feel and behavior. I didn't know what I would think of graphite. A nice surprise. Immediately I took notice of three things: 1) Feel, 2) Length, 3) Trajectory. They feel as graphite should. Smooth and powerful. The kick is tremendous. They fly high. Almost what seems to be too high. Damn they are long. Almost 2 clubs longer for me. At first I was astonished at the height these flew. Up quick and away they went. However, they didn't balloon. I had to move around to different range stalls to check to see if I had accurate distances. on the course, they seemed longer by a mile. I felt strong again. Ok so how was accuracy. Very, very good. They were so easy to hit I found myself either trying to kill the ball or swinging easier. They never went right. I have pulled a few, but that is my swing flaw. They also didn't hook, no matter how much I step on it. They are rated as a R flex, but Crazy rates them for a 90-100mph driver swing speed. They held up very well. The perplexing part of these irons, is how livable they are and how addictive the distance gains are with the Crazy shafts. What a nice setup. My goal of testing the Crazy shafts has been accomplished. I will buy a set for the 2012 Yamaha irons. The discovery of the TM irons was a nice benefit. I will sell these. Not because they are not any good, but because I think others should take them for a test spin. It is a great way to test the Crazy irons shafts mated with a solid high performing iron. You likely will be pleasantly surprised. Who is next in line? $880 but I can't send until the end of October.

Akira 3w M215 Joins Baby Brother and Sister
If you like mid to smallish fairway woods with a nice shape, mid depth, super solid feel with forgiveness yet workable they are the real deal. I have owned many of the top woods, and for me nothing has performed as solid as these. I almost find myself playing to positions that require me to hit these clubs.
