  1. I agree with Juan about the 858 over the 660. Same experience here. If you are going to go with the Utility woods, you might consider the TourStage F/UT's. the face is very square and the weight is perfect. Very solid. The TM TP Rescue's might be good for you too, but the TM non-TP's are hook encouraging with the closed face. Hogans are about square. Sonartec is another good one for a Hybrid too.
  2. Hah, what fun! I'd just go with a darker grey or dark silver. Somewhere between black and silver. Grip to match. I am not a big fan of paintfill.
  3. Brilliant! Thanks Joe. Although my TP sounds fine, I've heard many guys complain about theirs.
  4. I agree completely. The lofts of the conforming drivers is what kills me. I have tried to make the Maru work, the X390, but in the end as much as I really liked the design and style, once I got over thinking that I could make it work, the lofts just beat me up. TourStage! Are you listening?
  5. Great information. Thanks!

I know a guy that just used the Iron Factory and he had only good things to say about it. He said one of the owners was very sick and quality slipped. That was quite a while ago and now things are back to their usual standard.
  7. I have gotten to the point where I just try to play what works for me. I don't care if it's a old $100 200 steel FW. If it works, it stays, or at least I don't sell it while I try something else out.

Those are great looking irons.

The only thing I know of is the shaft selection.
  10. I'm playing it for a mild draw with 10 and 10 in the heel with 2 in the toe and 10 on the inside toe.
  11. Just get them from the TM website.

Hari - I can't really compare it to any Fuji I have hit. Here's the specs... GD I-65: 72g torque 2.2 mid/high kick

I hit one last week--it wasn't tour and it had a MAS shaft, but it was from Japan--and couldn't believe that I was out driving it with my J340. Maybe it was that it was set up wrong for me or the 10.5* and MAS haft put too much spin on the ball...or maybe the J340 is just a bad-ass. Patrick, I'm telling you this now...you're not going to find any more distance with any other club than you get now from the 983e; as for forgiveness, you're too good of a ball striker to really benefit much from what ever advantage it has over the 983e. Dwayne, I think the shaft is the true engine of the golf club anyway. I think it's the total setup here that works for me. You are giving good advise to Patrick in my book. He's a good ball striker so the larger sweet spot on the TM won't be a factor. While this is a hot face, it's all about the shaft. That's sounds like a bad-ass J340!

It's not quite as forgiving as the Gemini, but still very easy. It is a lot longer than the Gemini though. At least with the setups I am using. I'm using a Fuji 553 in the Gem and the I-65 in the TP. Loft are stated as the same.

For the heck of it I thought I would post these photos of the driver I just got from Chris. This club plays incredible for me. Very forgiving and the longest yet. This is a great shaft for me as well. I was worried about it being too stiff, but no problem. R7 Quad TP Japanese 10.5 w/ Graphite Design AD-65 - Note: No serial numbers on this one...

Golfsmith Stores Patrick. If you go to http://www.golfsmith.com and do a search for stores where you will be you can get an idea.
  17. I agree. The R7TP I'm playing doesn't sound tinny or thin at all.

These clubs set up square to only very slightly closed if at all. When you choose your F/UT's ... choose by lofts that you want to replace, whether it be irons or woods. Hosel is not bendable. I have the 3, 4 and 5 F/UT's.
  19. Great Review.. thanks bud.

Here's another site that has more info in Japanese for the KM Tour Zodia's. http://www.km-golf.com/kmweg02.htm Also, here's the Zodia site.. http://www.zodia.biz/ Here's the bounce on the KM tour versions... They have an unusual grind so that they don't play like a higher bounce though. I don't have the Premium numbers. 52* 10* Bounce. 53* 10* Bounce 54* 12* Bounce 55* 12* Bounce 56* 13* Bounce 58* 15* Bounce 59* 10* Bounce 60* 12* Bounce
  21. I have owned both and currently own the GD's. The US Spec CB's are completely different than the Gauge. The Gauge are much more modern in design. I had Rifle 6.0's in each. Feel - They both feel equally good. The Gauge being a little firmer. Forgiveness - Gauge wins here hands down. I know the MRCB's are easy to hit, but nothing like the Gauge. Distance - Again the Gauge. They are the longest irons I've ever hit. Surprising really. That was the hardest thing to get used to. I kept over shooting the greens. Design - The Gauge are longer with more offset in the shorter irons. Long irons have almost no offset. I usually don't care for offset, but it doesn't bother me at all and works very well. MR's have minimal offset throughout the set. More bounce on the MR's too. I had to get used to the minimal bounce with the Gauge, but it was easy to adapt. Trajectory - I had Rifle 6.0's in each but I put 5.5 Project X in my MR's to try to bring the trajectory down a little. Gauge trajectory is medium and fits me well. Workmanship - Gauge hands down have more attention to detail and design. The TourStage MR CB's are very nice looking. The heads are much smaller than the Gauge. I'll take the Gauge with this one too. The Forging on the Gauge is tighter and more uniform.
  22. Mine doesn't really have a ting sound. It's more of a little crunch sound. It's fairly muted and not loud and it's pretty solid sounding.
  23. Ok, Ok, I had posted the Gemini as the most accurate... That was before I really had my sweaty hands on this TP. This thing is so freaking long and accurate for me it's scaring me. I just stand there and swing as hard as I can manage without falling over. :surprize: It's a great driver and although I have always fought the desire to buy a Taylor Made driver because it always reminded me of Todd.... I'm extremely happy with it. Longer (honestly) than anything I've had and super consistent. I think it's the combination shaft and driver, but I'm not going to quabble. I'm digging it.

I agree with Chris in that the Zodia's are expensive for what they are.. Unfortunately they work great for me so I'm stuck! LOL Anyway those Mizuno's are great also. Here's the link to the Japan site for Zodia and specs... Run it through Babel Fish if you have a hard time getting the numbers. http://www.zodia.biz/

Howsit Jonny. Here are some of my favorite. Zodia, Scratch, FourteeN, also, I haven't tried them, but the Gauge look pretty nice too.
