how much can one vary the lofts from factory specs before it starts to look distorted and the bounce becomes ineffective? the Epon iron lofts are pretty strong to start
  2. yeah, i thought this would be the be all and end all of driver searching, but unfortunately it wasn't, but I got soooo close. I love the feel of the head and shaft. Duffer19, you got it right with the whiteboard, it's an excellent shaft, definitely worth the money, and the japanese ion version makes it that much more special, looks really cool. everything is perfect except my launch angle and spin. It might not be optimal for my swing but can be the holy grail for someone else's swing. The good thing about Epon is it's resale value, that's the security I had when I bought this in case I really hated it, which I definitely do not. So no worries if I don't sell it.
  3. i don't think I will find a shaft that will lower the spin and not break my bank account. If the whiteboard isn't going to do it, then there's not much left. Shaft will typically only do 3 degrees in either direction so the head design is made to spin more than what I'm accustomed to. I think I'm probably going in circles because the forgiveness is probably from the head design with the side effect of more spin. When I go at it, it will spin too much and balloon fade but if I swing easy, it gives me a nice trajectory and a draw. I don't like to swing easy. I was thinking of tipping it but I don't want too stiff of a shaft, I'll lose some distance. I have a feeling I need to try something a little less forgiving with less spin. It's a balance. I hit my D2 great not very forgiving but super long if you nail it. Anyways, I doubt people will gobble this one up because I'm not budging on price. I just want to get close to what I've paid for. The ballooning bothers me because I need the carry for the course that I play frequently to stay out of trouble.
  4. Might as well put this up in the J-spec section. The driver is no longer for sale.

besides price ;) having never played either, but from many hours of reading, I'd have a good guess that the Axiv plays or feels more stiff than Roddio in addition to Roddio having different shafts that "attempt" to take either the left or right out of play.

thanks, that advice will likely prevent me from trying the XDrive if there's no real benefit from veering away from the Epon head. I'll keep an eye out for a different shaft. I do like the whiteboard, i'll have to get on a launch monitor. Jack

thanks for the info. I'm just very surprised that the whiteboard would launch so high, even with a high launching head. I already spent a lot on this combo and not sure I should search. What do you think of the XDrive with the whiteboard? Would that be a lower launching combo? thanks for your advice Jack

hi, I have the Epon driver and I know that it's forged and feels fantastic. Does anyone know if the X-Drive is forged as well? I was thinking of selling the Epon 9.5 since I still hit it high with the ion whiteboard installed for the XDrive. perhaps the Epon head is a high launching head? can I play with any lead tape placement to lower the launch? please advise. thanks jackson
  9. was wondering what this really meant in terms of launch numbers? we're all trying to achieve an ideal 14 degrees of launch and about 2500rpm spin for a 100mph swing speed, what does high launch low spin mean? 16 degrees launch and 2000 rpm spin, etc... thanks Jack
  10. wow! love the milling on the face. I like the material or design of the current Rac TP MB where the face looks kind of satin like. Why doesn't anyone have those? The darker faces are harder to keep clean. This iron looks "robotic", if that's any way to describe an iron. Any info on the new technology behind this one and some comparisons between this and the JPX E500 Forged and ViQ Forged in terms of forgiveness and feel and top line? Who forges these? soooo many questions...
  11. I have the R7 Forged and had the J33cb. The R7 looks a lot nicer. Both setup nice so it's even. The R7 is more forgiving for sure and the I prefer the R7 feeling at impact. The J33 is nice also since it's Endo forged (i believe) but the R7 feels softer. The ball flight is better on the R7, not sure why. Overall I chose the R7 for forgiveness, address, and playbility. THe deal maker is that it's JDM and gives me a feeling of having something special and different. Hope that helps. I have two sets by the way.

hi, I have a new Diamana that has a rectangular notch on the butt. I'm led to believe this marks the spine of the shaft? It's in the same line as the logo. 1- Can someone confirm that this is indeed true, without a doubt? 2- If this is true, aren't you suppose to orient the spine at 9 oclock or facing the target? If this is the case then it won't be logo down. 3- What are the effects of having the spine at 12 oclock? thanks Jack

i am..i am... i'm thinking very much about what i'm missing out on. about $500-700 =) i'm only kidding..i'm still thinking...just not sure i can justify epon versus D2 for that much. i've purchased Epon J's before and sold it within the week, a lot of it was hype and wasn't that much better than the 695cb's.. they were good but not that much better. i guess if you want the best you just have to pay that premium. i'm likely going to blind bore 1.5 inches into my D2 with the whiteboard and see what happens. i wouldn't mind using that money for some more lessons.
  15. let us know how your 18 holes went. i have the same set (mx23 w/ BG stiffs) but haven't played them yet. still working the r7 forged. might want to switch back, still think the mx23 is softer and easily more forgiving.

just as the title states, please let me know what what you have shipped to san diego (92065) thanks
  18. Someone might want to unload a good graphite shaft extractor that they have sitting around. Please email me with pictures and price shipped to san diego (92065). thanks Jackson
  19. yeah, i think these are good sticks. very sweet and playable. i also have my 5-pw in tour concept stiffs (chrome). really looks nice. i might sell it soon though so i can try something else. it's a tough decision for me. i'm not in the single digits so I should really be playing something easier to hit.
  20. i think a japanese ebay seller have both options with NSPRO950 much cheaper at $1k
  21. the MG801 comes with NSPRO950 from factory I believe
  22. the picture shows two different shots. a lob with a wedge versus a bump and run with this chipper. you can do the same with any club in your bag. the idea is to land it and let it roll to the hole. i'd go with a hybrid and choke down, it's really the same thing.
  23. Go to a local fitter than carries exotic japanese shafts like Oziks and get fitted. they are a round, you just have to find them. Otherwise I'm sure chris can set you up with one as a loner if you pay for shipping and deposit. With that said, I think the VS proto is great! in the D2 head. It will be hard to find another shaft that's more bang for the buck. The key is to find a head/shaft/ball combo that will get you the highest efficiency. If you get close enough, you're not going to do better even with a shaft that's a billion dollar
  24. I went for a ball fitting today and here are my stats: (where SS= swing speed, BS=ball speed, ER=efficiency rating, LA=launch angle, BS=back spin, SS=side spin, DI=distance) SS: 98.1 mph BS: 138.9 mph ER: 1.42 of 1.45 ideal LA: 16.6 degrees BS: 2477 rpm SS: -50 rpm DI: 242 yards My question is if my carry is 242 yards, what roll should I expect and how do I calculate it? With my numbers, I should get plenty of roll. thanks in advance Jackson
  25. why didn't you consider any miura irons, like the cd1006 or passing point?
