Hi Terence, it would really help if you told us what kind of results you are looking for, like feel and ball trajectory and weight? That will really help narrow down the right shaft for you matched with these PP-9001's.
-
Yeah I figured that but back in Thailand where the stash all the other proto goodies he might have tried the new Tour Ad for EMB too... (^_^)
-
sarintr, did you try the Tour AD for EMB? I'm very curious about this shaft? How is the feeling?
-
Okay just pulled out my trusty japanese driver guide... The EMB has the deepest center of gravity of any driver... (I don't know about those new TM or Cobra drivers though...) at 45.5mm back from the face. The FT-i was the former champ at 45.1mm followed by the PRGR 502 Silver at 44.3 and the FT-5 at 42.8 and the TM Burner TP at 42.1 and the Sumo2 at 41.7mm.
-
According to the specs it's quite a bit more shallow and a lot wider... the EMB is 50mm high which is shallow by todays standards and the Epon 460 is 57mm high, if I'm not mistaken all Epon woods are forged in Japan. By the way, I just got the pre-order up (^_^) http://www.tourspecgolf.com/proshop/p1531/...oduct_info.html

Good feedback Willy, that will be interesting to see. When you say the clubs looked too midsized, were you referring to the short irons specifically (since you said the 7 iron looked so good). Also did you see the 550's?
-
New irons look very interesting... perhaps the best mid to high handicapper iron and ladies pro iron in japan over the last 5 years is the XXIO series... The 5th generation features a 60g Tungsten Sole!!

Actually go to my blog and watch it.... longer better quality version: http://www.inpakuto.com/component/option,c...per/Itemid,104/

Chris should have a few sets on hand soon so expect pics! (^_^)
-
Watched the video again.... I think I wanna try the 550's... Kanetani pro just kept saying for both irons... SO Soft!! Feels so good!.... damn fourteen and their soft irons! (^_^) Thanks to Endo forgings!

GDO Quick Video review of the 550's and 1000 is now up. In the end thumbs up from GDO's head pro who tested the TC-1000 and a mid capper (14 hdcp) who loved the 550's! Guess that answers the question about what level of golfer can play the 550's. The irons look amazing! As the pro put it. The 550's look simple and handsome! SUPER SOFT! (please note the video player seems to have sound off by default, so you have to unclick the mute button on the player, also seems to work best in IE) http://www.inpakuto.com/component/option,c...per/Itemid,104/

AJ not directly from Epon as an upgrade it won't. But I guess it could be shafted up custom.

Randy thanks for the info, that is very interesting. As you probably saw, Ping Japan does have rapture J's which were different specs from the US model. I had looked into the g10 and i10's and supposedly they were no different from US versions. Pictures would be interesting to see. I assume the specs must be the same. The site has no mention of finish.

D, they are supposed to be low spin and are very highly rated in Japan. The independent tester RankingGate had the RM models ranked in the top three along with Epon. Supposedly very good drivers, especially at that price! T, yeah the AR-1's are indeed 1018 which are very soft. Same design though it seems. The EK do indeed look similar to the EZ-1 but maybe a bit different in aesthetics? Not sure.

This will definitely be a high launching combo... the shaft is said to have a lot of kick and stabalizes any twisting of the head. The face is said to provide maximum forgiveness and one of the widest sweetspots in golf. This driver has been designed by Epon to straight and long. I've asked Epon for more info on the shaft as I am a major fan of Graphite Design... even over Axiv and Roddio now. I say try the stock shaft first and if it doesn't work get another shaft like an Axiv X or new Tour AD.

Pre orders should start on Monday. (^_^)

As a matter of a fact B, the more upright the lie on a driver the more forgiving and easier it is supposed to be to hit (I learned this recently myself and perhaps someone who knows why can explain in detail). I've noticed that many manufacturers are moving in this direction, longer shaft more upright for drivers. The current 460 Forged is in fact 61* lie as well. According to Epon head office, this prototype shaft from Graphite Design is specifically designed for High MOI drivers. DO NOT pay attention to the torque numbers, yes they are high, but Epon did a lot of R&D on matching this head with the right shaft and they found the best combination of stability and performance with this shaft. Also, Epon will only be offering upgrades with newer model shafts specifically designed for high MOI heads like the Axiv-X. They are very very focused on making this driver a winner and a performer.... I cannot wait to try it. When I'm hitting the ball I don't need to see the sole (which I don't like) and I've been training with a HiBore XL and Burner to get used to the top (^_^)

S25C as it says in the first post. (^_^)
-
9.5* is square, 10.5* is 0.5* close and 12* is 1.0* closed but I'm assuming face angle can be custom ordered as usual.
-
Yes they are, according to Geotech, the Forged EK was an evolution from the 670's that are slightly larger and target the same mid and low handicappers. The design is supposedly more forgiving and more up to date as this 670 model has been around longer.
-
The image is not drawn to scale but the face height is pretty shallow at 50mm but CG is deep at 45.5mm. I think with the release of all the new high MOI drivers the numbers will all be pretty close as they are all pushing the envelope for design. The Japanese magazines will release full MOI measurements as always using a standard machine on all the heads so we should get to see some numbers soon! (^_^)
-
I'm not so hot on the sole design... but the rest of the driver looks awesome!! 12*!!! MOI=5500!! Neck and crown MOI=9340!! That is the highest in golf besting the burner TP's 8300+!!
-
It's definitely a great looking head and I couldn't believe the price... especially since you get 2 real wedges too.... I've been told that these heads are the same design used by Scratch, Zodia and a few other companies. I haven't played them myself but they sure look good...

Good find! Interesting looking. The driver also comes stock with a Graphite Design Tour AD Prototype at 46" in length....hmmmm.
