Ryoma - Field Testing w/Joe Average Golfer(S)
gocchin replied to idrive's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
If I remember correctly Jodokus had a Crazy in the AF-101 but a newer model and slightly softer Crazy in the Ryoma. -
Ryoma - Field Testing w/Joe Average Golfer(S)
gocchin replied to idrive's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
I've had some customers tell me 10 yards and some even up to 30y gains in distance... the 30y was over the customers previous Epon AF-101 as well which really surprised me. There really is no such thing as a normal gain since every player is different and using different specs and different "former/ex" drivers. (^_^) -

15m or more is superb. I sure hope you can also get that kind of distance gains Frank! -
Supo67 Review's the Fourteen DT111 & Hi610h
gocchin replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
I'm actually waiting for that club plus the 62* wedge from Fourteen. I haven't played golf at all since before the quake... many courses are close to closed due to lack of players.... -
As I mentioned in the thread before.. you noticed scuffs, because those pictures were of a prototype head before release. It was an unfinished product. The actual products are indeed flawless. As for this brand. Never heard of them and its the first time I've seen them. Joint Taiwan/Japan brand apparently. Irons and wedges, open model from Kyoei. Drivers they don't say where they are made, I don't recognize the designs but they do use SP700 on the face which is a good thing.

Quadras are completely fine tipped. As a matter of a fact, Quadra suggest tipping to increase CPM, I think it was 0.5" for 8cpm.

Those are some awesome brands C. You have spoiled your family. (^_^) My wife knows nothing about golf and any brands... she has no idea about any of the brands she is playing. Will take pics this weekend. T

Ryoma - Field Testing w/Joe Average Golfer(S)
gocchin replied to idrive's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
The bottom truth is, any driver, if we try and swing out of pants, which we all are guilty of when going after that extra distance, will result in control issues. When we get fit for a shaft, its not the shaft that matches the 110% swing, its the shaft that matches the consistent smooth controlled swing with proper swing path and form. It doesn't matter what driver I have, if I try too hard and go to fast, my form breaks down one way or another resulting in either pushes or pulls or worse. Some drivers are better than others at combating this and this is what I call forgiveness and the Ryoma certainly helps. I have the same situation as you B, many times I played with my neighbors and they both swing over 100mph so they would naturally go to the furthest ball thinking it was theirs and yes it was mine (^_^). They no longer do that as I play the red Klenot and they know where my ball is, but the Ryoma still always surprises them, even when I don't hit it well. When we are not playing our best, every little bit helps. Problem is we get greedy and want more. My setup is now a Ryoma D-1 9.5* Crazy TJ-46 Noir 6.2 -
It was a pretty good low spin, deep face driver but technology is different from the current X-Drives. I'd say the 703 was even an upgrade over the 701 and the 703 is stilll very good and comparable but the new models feature a more advanced crown design and weighting structure as well as a softer feel off the face. Plus the heads have gotten more compact as opposed to the 701 and 703 even. Even with the smaller size it has not lost forgiveness and probably gained distance thanks to the designs.

You guys gonna get together for a game? -
Send me an email at [email protected] and I'll have a quote for you. Steel fiber is not an option from Epon. Please also let me know the set makeup. Thanks, T

Ryoma - Field Testing w/Joe Average Golfer(S)
gocchin replied to idrive's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Give the Ryoma a bit of time Frank. I remembered you had emailed me saying the Kamui had great distance but miss hits were shorter than usual. The Ryoma should not be like that. I gamed the Kamui for a whole summer and I find the Ryoma not only longer but a lot more forgiving on miss hits. Once you dial it in hopefully you can see some differences. -
Difference between JBeam FX 425 head and Crazy (JBeam) FX 435?
gocchin replied to Mjr. D's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
It depends really, both are so similar. The 425 tour is a bit more compact and has a slightly smaller head size but otherwise they feature the same technology design and materials. The main differences are CG placment, the 425 Tour is slightly higher but quite a bit more shallow resulting in an even more penetrating ball flight. The 435 is already low but the 425 is even lower. The 425 is also a touch flatter. Feel is probably close to identical. -
That isn't a problem, after all, we are on the same side of the pond and the club originated from me originally so eventually needs to come back to this side.

We've got a queue of about 6 people in line for the Ryoma Demo. Contact me if interested and I will arrange that it goes to you. Good idea to start this thread B. It can be useful for those wanting to post feedback in regards to the Ryoma. I wish more people would post but not all customers are forum members. I have gotten a lot of feedback via email from those who have purchased the driver and all have been positive and reported gains of 10 to even 30 yards! PLUS very good control and of course monster forgiveness. It certainly helps that the right shaft is chosen which testers of the demo should keep in mind.

That's actually the standard D-1. I still have the Premia here which is 46.5". The R2 flex was perfect for Jacque as its a soft R or Senior flex and set up at 44.5". She was hitting it 200 yards easily.

Here in Japan, people are obviously still shocked, emotionally drained and uneasy but at the same time very calm. People try hard to go on with daily life though most neighbors including ourselves have a couple of bags packed with essentials and stuff ready to go if we have to. The stores and supermarkets are returning to more normal operations now and the initial fear causing stocking up of food and shortages seems to have subsided somewhat. Besides the reactors, one thing that concerns me is the constant aftershocks and tremblors. I know the experts have said this is normal but there was a 6.2 last night in Shizuoka which is south of Tokyo and just an hour ago a 6.0 right off the east coast of Chiba here which shook our house for about 15 seconds. These mini quakes are occurring in different spots which makes me wonder if another larger scale quake could hit inland or here in the Kanto region. As for whether I will evacuate. It is a very tough call. I call Japan my home now and I love Japan very much. I moved here with the intentions of staying permanently. We purchased a house here and put all of our interests into Japan. It is not so easy to leave your home though we have certainly thought about it (especially if it got to the point where there is no home left). My wife's parents are also here as well as her brother which makes it harder to leave. We are on top of a mountain here about 15km from the east coast so we are safe from any Tsunami but its the quakes and reactor that worry me as no mountain will stop our house from falling down or radioactive winds. The daily rolling blackouts here continue which make it hard for me to work since I need to sit in front of a computer. Deliveries are still going and I've touched base with a few brands we deal with and naturally there are delays with shipments but in the most part, southern Japan is functioning as normal (though with a heavy burden on their hearts for sure). I continue to receive many many emails from all of you and even customers whom I haven't helped for nearly 2 years. Its great to see so many people care so much and I thank you for your support as it gives us all strength.

Glad to hear it made it Frank and even faster than I expected. As always waiting for your feedback. Now you can meet up with sup067 (Stew) who has fled to Singapore. He would love a game there I'm sure. T

Thankfully we are not that close to the primary damaged areas but there is also damage here in Chiba including 30 dead or missing from the coast side here. I am about 30 minutes away by car from that huge refinery fire that started after the quake. Tokyo withstood the quake but there is damage and just flow of society there has been messed up due to the quake. I just got power back in my house just now as the rolling blackouts have begun. We will lose power again in a few hours. Right after we got power back we were moved by a huge tremblor... house swayed for nearly 10 seconds as this one was much close to chiba just of the east coast here. A 6.2 in Ibaraki. I think I am getting motion sickness from all this swaying... and to top it off, my Japanese income taxes are due tomorrow and I still have to do them somehow... We are heading out to battle the crowds for groceries now... Stew, whats the grocery and supermarket situation out in Tokyo, are they also out of bread and meat and fish and stuff like that? Here are the number of quakes that have moved us in the last 24 hours alone! 10:14 JST 14 Mar 2011 10:02 JST 14 Mar 2011 Ibaraki-ken Oki M6.2 5- 10:07 JST 14 Mar 2011 10:02 JST 14 Mar 2011 Ibaraki-ken Oki M6.2 5- 08:57 JST 14 Mar 2011 08:53 JST 14 Mar 2011 Ibaraki-ken Oki M4.9 3 08:50 JST 14 Mar 2011 08:47 JST 14 Mar 2011 Nagano-ken Chubu M3.3 3 08:47 JST 14 Mar 2011 08:41 JST 14 Mar 2011 Ibaraki-ken Oki M4.7 3 07:51 JST 14 Mar 2011 07:46 JST 14 Mar 2011 Akita-ken Nairiku-nambu M3.0 3 07:20 JST 14 Mar 2011 07:16 JST 14 Mar 2011 Ibaraki-ken Oki M4.3 3 04:32 JST 14 Mar 2011 04:27 JST 14 Mar 2011 Fukushima-ken Oki M4.2 3 04:20 JST 14 Mar 2011 04:16 JST 14 Mar 2011 Ibaraki-ken Oki M4.9 3 02:33 JST 14 Mar 2011 02:29 JST 14 Mar 2011 Chiba-ken Toho-oki M4.8 3 02:09 JST 14 Mar 2011 02:04 JST 14 Mar 2011 Fukushima-ken Oki M4.4 3 00:15 JST 14 Mar 2011 00:10 JST 14 Mar 2011 Chiba-ken Toho-oki M5.0 3 23:32 JST 13 Mar 2011 23:28 JST 13 Mar 2011 Fukushima-ken Oki M4.4 3 23:32 JST 13 Mar 2011 23:28 JST 13 Mar 2011 Niigata-ken Chuetsu-chiho M3.9 4 22:48 JST 13 Mar 2011 22:43 JST 13 Mar 2011 Sanriku Oki M5.0 3 21:48 JST 13 Mar 2011 21:44 JST 13 Mar 2011 Fukushima-ken Oki M4.7 3 21:00 JST 13 Mar 2011 20:56 JST 13 Mar 2011 Ibaraki-ken Oki M4.8 3 20:42 JST 13 Mar 2011 20:37 JST 13 Mar 2011 Fukushima-ken Oki M6.0 3 18:56 JST 13 Mar 2011 18:52 JST 13 Mar 2011 Miyagi-ken Oki M5.5 3 18:32 JST 13 Mar 2011 18:25 JST 13 Mar 2011 Iwate-ken Oki M5.5 3 15:23 JST 13 Mar 2011 15:19 JST 13 Mar 2011 Iwate-ken Oki M4.3 3 15:04 JST 13 Mar 2011 15:00 JST 13 Mar 2011 Fukushima-ken Oki M4.7 3 12:39 JST 13 Mar 2011 12:34 JST 13 Mar 2011 Nagano-ken Hokubu M4.0 3 12:35 JST 13 Mar 2011 12:31 JST 13 Mar 2011 Nagano-ken Hokubu M4.2 4 12:14 JST 13 Mar 2011 12:09 JST 13 Mar 2011 Chiba-ken Nambu M4.1 3 10:34 JST 13 Mar 2011 10:26 JST 13 Mar 2011 Ibaraki-ken Oki M6.4 4 10:29 JST 13 Mar 2011 10:26 JST 13 Mar 2011 Ibaraki-ken Oki M6.4 4 09:44 JST 13 Mar 2011 09:41 JST 13 Mar 2011 Ibaraki-ken Oki M4.5 3 09:42 JST 13 Mar 2011 09:32 JST 13 Mar 2011 Ibaraki-ken Oki M4.8 3 09:36 JST 13 Mar 2011 09:32 JST 13 Mar 2011 Ibaraki-ken Oki M4.8 3 08:44 JST 13 Mar 2011 08:41 JST 13 Mar 2011 Fukushima-ken Oki M5.2 3 08:39 JST 13 Mar 2011 08:25 JST 13 Mar 2011 Miyagi-ken Oki M6.2 5- 08:35 JST 13 Mar 2011 08:25 JST 13 Mar 2011 Miyagi-ken Oki M6.2 4 08:29 JST 13 Mar 2011 08:25 JST 13 Mar 2011 Miyagi-ken Oki M6.2 4 08:03 JST 13 Mar 2011 07:59 JST 13 Mar 2011 Fukushima-ken Oki M4.4 3 07:37 JST 13 Mar 2011 07:31 JST 13 Mar 2011 Iwate-ken Oki M5.7 3 07:22 JST 13 Mar 2011 07:13 JST 13 Mar 2011 Fukushima-ken Oki M6.0 3 07:17 JST 13 Mar 2011 07:13 JST 13 Mar 2011 Fukushima-ken Oki M6.0 3

The reactors are a serious issue. Not only meltdown but also because there is a severe shortage of electricity. Millions of houses are still without power. It was announced today they are starting rotating power outages all across the prefectures around the Tokyo area in order to divert power North. Unfortunately Oami where we live is included. We are scheduled to be out of power for 3-4 hours in the morning then another 3-4 hours in the evening. Apparently this may go on for some time. Watching the detailed news reports today of the rescues and now many victims was heartbreaking as people being interviewed talked about losing their loved ones as they fled the tsunami. Also seeing the result of the devastation is mind blowing... According to the meteorological agency here, there is a 70% chance of another quake topping 7.0 magnitude hitting again within 3 days. So far estimates are for a death toll above 10,000 Tomorrow we head out officially for groceries as we've exhausted all the food in the house... our dog has eaten all his food too. (^_^) Some supermarkets reopened today and neighbors who went told us it was very very crowded and things like bread and meat and fish once again sold out very fast.

Yeah that's the town getting wiped out in the video... utterly shocking. Helicopters keep flying above here... sounds like a war zone.
-
We just had another big shake... more than 10 seconds... over 5 magnitude apparently... Stew did you feel that in Tokyo? Around 10:17pm I think we are sleeping downstairs tonight... the 2nd floor sways too much...

This still has to be one of the most shocking scenes after the earthquake: http://www.cnn.com/video/data/2.0/video/world/2011/03/11/nat.nhk.japan.sendai.tsunami.nhk.html Everytime I see it I think its CG from a hollywood move... scary.
