Posted April 22, 20159 yr Anyone have experience with any of their vast array of wedges? MT28 all variants RM11 RM12 RM21 DJ11 D-030 Any others? Torn between going back to 50/56/60 or maybe get a dedicated pw to match the other wedges in the bag, i.e like 46 or 48/50 or 52/56/60 Would you mix and match the models, maybe a different model for a sw or lw perhaps? April 22, 20159 yr have had RM 11, 12 and a 21....... Best feeling was 12, has led me to wonder if the 21 is still forged, can't find out if it is or not from their website. Whatever, Fourteen make great wedges
April 22, 20159 yr I use the tour van raw RM's . I think they are 11's, same shape as the 12. Great wedges, good spin for conforming groove and bloody soft. Here are mine shafted with Ns proto 2s14's and the offset zeroed out.
April 22, 20159 yr I have the MT28v5 and they are lovely and soft. I don't think they are the highest spinning I've used but they do have a great balance to them. I'm not sure I would put a 46 in my bag as (for me) that would be a club for full swings and I'd be tempted to use the club from the iron set for continuity. If you go 50 upwards I don't think you can go wrong with Fourteen. They don't seem to generate much buzz and I'm not sure why they seem so under-rated.
April 22, 20159 yr ooooooooooooh yea... these ae in my bag for this weekend. did some one say spin ? very oishii! Edited April 22, 20159 yr by supo67
April 23, 20159 yr My faves from 14 were the ones Stew posted above and the v3. Just worked best for me, especially out of greenside rough.
April 23, 20159 yr Have the DJ11 in 52 and 58. Are very easy to use. Both for approach and bunker shots.
April 23, 20159 yr i have the rm12 in 50/54/58. I also use the SM5's if you are familiar. To give a fair comparison, the fourteens are not better than the SM5 in my opinion, and SM5 is not better than the fourteens. If you prefer firm, the SM5 is great, but the fourteens are way softer on full swings (and are forged). From the sand, i prefer SM5, from the bunkers, i prefer fourteens. I dont know how they do it, but the shape of the RM12 makes it so dead easy to get out of the rough for chips and pitches. Turf interaction from the fairway, though, i think the SM5 is better. My PW is 45-47*, by the way, depending on which set i am using. but my lofts on my wedge combo stays the same; I'm so used to them and never played anything higher than 58.
April 23, 20159 yr Author Thanks for the input peeps. Seriously tempted to try the RM12. Stu - the one's you have are limited editions right?

April 24, 20159 yr On the subject of wedges... I cant not turn my head. I especially like the high heeled ladies. When I first discovered this forum I picked up a Fourteen MT28 V5 it was the first 60* I could get along with. Now that..... Mr Ian got me started I found a couple matching swerial TS spec I'll have to buy. The wifey is a jealous one so I'm surea lot of you know how that goes. .
April 24, 20159 yr Worth noting too is that Suda-san of Modart was the wedge guy at Fourteen at this time. He can do any of these grinds custom with adjustments although the price is not anywhere near the same, the head forging and grind work is superior as he did not grind these but designed them.

April 27, 20159 yr Ian, I have been playing the RM-12s for about a year but also have a Vokey Cold Forged 58*. I feel the 12s are deadly accurate and feel great but they are a few yards shorter than some other wedges. They took a short period of time to get used to but now my 54* shafted with Fujikura MCI 100 is like throwing darts at the flag (if I was that good!).

Not too bothered with the shorter distance, but the accuracy bit I'm all over. Thanks man. Edited April 27, 20159 yr by Ian-500
