  1. Guys, seriously, this is hilarious. You'd think I'm trashing the church, based on some of these posts. Without sounding like too much of a d**khead, I was (still am but not as much) an EXTREMELY flexible athlete. Used to be able to do the splits, no problem. Could run a 4.45 40 yard dash. 44inch vetical leap. Bat speed was 104. I'm a horrible bench presser but I've always had very strong legs. Can one leg leg press 6 plates/side. I used to be able to hit 96mph with badly tampered with pitching mechanics. No, i'm not Jamie Sadlowski or the england power lifting guy or Zuback. These guys train year round AND they're more naturally freakish at swinging a golf club fast, than I am. However, put them on a track, basketball court, baseball diamond, football field, etc and I would have my way with them all day, not even a contest. Point being... explosive athleticism DOES transfer over to a powerful yet effortless (due to flexibility and my height) golf swing. Is my swing technically good? Hell no. Take away to the inside, cupped left wrist, across the line at the top, too steep of a downswing, poor weight transfer, left foot moves during transition, arms trail body on downswing, flippy, early release. Like I said when I posted the video of my swing last month; I'm NOT a good ball striker. I hit a lot of thin shots. It f**king drives me nuts! I hate it! However, in terms of club head speed/velocity, yes I can swing the 6 iron close to 110mph and I can routinely hit the six iron 230 yards and 240 yards therefore, isn't an impossibility. As a matter of fact, I got very little sleep, played 18 the morning of and didn't eat lunch before the CoolClubs fitting and my driver swing speed which was 125MPH that day, was slower than I've tested previously and my distance shorter. I also haven't been working out since Dec. I can tell you right now that Cool Clubs does not purposely set the distances, ball speeds, etc high, on the TrackMan. The owner is a highly respected member of the golfing world and a TOTAL PURIST. If you could see the store, the attention to detail, the systematic way in which they operate their businesses you would quickly realize this guy would rather be out of the business altogether, than f**k with numbers. Another good point is regarding long drivers and their swings. A) A shorter, stockier, less flexible guy's swing is always going to look faster than a taller, longer, more flexible guy's swing so you can't go by that. B) Very few of the long driver's swings are technically sound, especially for ball control but as far as generating raw power, there are different ways to produce it and that's exactly what you'll notice when youtubing these guys. Bottom line, a weak, non explosive, non flexible guy is NEVER going to produce fast club head speed REGARDLESS of his technique. Look at Mike Weir and similar guys on the PGA tour. Luke Donald, etc. The guy who fit me at Cool Clubs was telling me how Matt Kutcher was in there getting things checked out two weeks prior to when I was there and his driver speed was 106, which is about average for the PGA Tour. As far as 150mph. Technically, no, I've never been tested swinging the club at 150mph, even with a long drive club. I've been tested swinging 148mph (with a swing speed radar, which is generally considered to accurate within a range of 5mph) but for the sake of the promotional video, why not exaggerate 2 mph and make it 150. Sorry if I offended anyone. Anyway, at the end of the day, I could never in my wildest dreams fathom myself being able to perform acrobatic movements like olympians or cirque de sole or run like Usain Bolt or bench press 500lbs but the point is.... people do it!
  2. Nothing against Bubba, but I'm just under 6'4" and can get my head at a regulation basketball rim height of 10'. I doubt bubba can dunk. Explosive swing, yes he has one. But again, watch long drive and other pro athletes other than golfers and you will see that Bubba is nowhere near what I would consider an all around explosive athlete.
  3. That's my swing. Keep in mind that's about 65% effort. At cool clubs I was swinging 100%.
  4. Yes it is. Not good. Again, 240 with the 6iron, not 258. No offence but I don't need your blessing. I know it's hard to understand but any of those long drive guys can hit a 6 iron 240+, no problem.
  5. Haha, well said! I lost the "ups" at 30. That's also around the time when I stopped caring. Amazing how much the mind plays a role in performance.
  6. Haha, thanks guys. I've hit my driver 400 yards but very very rarely. I went to one event in the long drive thing and didn't hit the grid. However, strangely enough, at CoolClubs i was hitting my most accurate shots of my life with my 6iron. It was honestly crazy. I can hit the ball straight but I was just really zoned in focusing on the back of the ball and it was paying off with extremely tight dispersion at the high swing speed. Pretty nice feeling. As far as my swing goes, it's not good at all. Across the line at the top, steep, feet move a little too much, etc. And yes, I'm a former pitcher, that's correct but I'm more of an athlete in the sense of explosiveness than a baseball player, if you know what I mean. Here's a picture of my dunking a basketball when I was 18, for example.
  7. Thanks chiromikey! It's nice to have someone else attest to this. Every time I share my numbers 90% of the recipients call BS! Now... to find myself some new irons!
  8. Has anyone hit the new Tourstage lineup yet? Or the Marumans? How about the Kyoeis or Honmas?
  9. And for the record, this is CoolClubs main headquarters. They are insanely meticulous... the store is ridiculous, when you see it in person. They fit and build clubs and have stores all over the world. If they were exaggerating their numbers more than 5 yards they'd be screwing up more people than they'd help. And it wouldn't go unnoticed. This is one of if not the premiere fitting studio in the world. I can assure you these numbers are as accurate as TrackMan is capable of delivering.
  10. Thanks man. I agree. Shaft selection is the main thing. I already have the 2011 Onoff forged with Modus 3 120 Tour X and love them. Launch is a little high but I don't feel like tearing them apart. For the record, I'm pretty damn confident Tiger could hit his 6 iron 225 if he really came un-glued and pured it. 240 is not impossible, at all. II was hitting my hybrid 300 which is about right and my 12.5* fairway 315-320 which is also right. I'm 6'4", 230lbs. Bubba is what? 190lbs? I'm also a way more explosive athlete. Look at these long drive guys.... they hit wedges 175 yards!
  11. Thanks guys. Muzinos and tourstage are my first choices so far. As far as trackman distances, etc. Its not exaggerated. They fit all the PGA Tour guys there, tons of athletes, etc. I've hit my 6 iron 240 in real life conditions many times. In fact, my driver distances on the trackman were 330-340 and actually short compared to real world findings at 350-360. I'm a big guy and very explosive. The average tour players swings his 6 iron 91 mph. I'm at 107. That's a big difference. Doesn't make me a good golfer. But in terms of clubbed speed and distance I can get it out there.
  12. Also I already have the Onoff Forged 2011 irons so I'm good for now, with Onoff.
  13. I have about 20 pages of date and fitting results and graphs, etc. Pretty cool (no pun intended) experience.
  14. Also take note of how the Crazy Sigma FW and Tourstage 12.5 fairway wood lowered my spin rate. Granted it was 1.5* lower loft.
  15. Hahaha, my short game has a lot left to be desired! But ya, I s**t you not, that's the honest to god results. Actually, I lied. 107 was my swing speed with the 6 irons. Also, I'm going to be tipping the recoils down as much as possible and hard stepping them. I just really like them and want to hang on to them. Also, when I was testing I swinging very hard and a lot of the time I don't play at that type of swing speed. However, they asked me to max my specs because they said they NEVER want to fit soft.
  16. Had a fitting at Cool Clubs in Scottsdale two weeks ago. Honestly, one of the most impressive things I've ever done. The store is like an assembly line at Mercedes or Ferrari. Everything is just utter precision and OCD-like attention to detail. $500 but absolutely worth it. I brought along my Epon 302s with newly shafted UST Recoils but they quickly determined that they were playing far too soft (CPM), too long and the heads were 2* too flat. They were laughing pretty hard because once I got warmed up, I was hitting my 6 iron 245yards on a Trackman at 108mph. They didn't have anything in their system that fit those specs so they decided the closest bet would be, to my disgust, the C-Tapers tipped... a lot. I told them I hated them in the Personals but took their advice since they have all the tech and then some, to back up their findings. Anyway, long long story short, the re-shafted my 302s with C-Tapers (and they do feel much better than the Personals felt with C-Tapers, for some reason) but I now have a brand new set of Recoils I want to put in something else. Which do you guys think? I'm looking for something with the softest possible feel and comparable playability to the Epon 302. 2013 Tourstage 709-MB Yamaha 2013 V-Forged tour Honma Tour World Maruman Pro X Conductor Something from Fourteen? Something from Romaro? Mizuno Custom MP-64s Kyoei Zestaim Something new coming from S-Yard? Epon? Just kidding. Thanks!
  17. How old's this Epon guy? 2, 3, 5 years away from passing on? Hopefully have the account back up and running, then.
