Honma LB280s in a black barrel finish....reminds me of my gamers 15 years ago. Imagine Ping Eye2 made in mild steel and a raw dark grey look and a slightly squarer toe. Actually the LB280s can be traced back to 1990? I remember ordering my custom set then. I was in college and I worked all summer to pick up a set of the irons. They were US$1300 (2-10, 11, SW)back then with 1 star titanium carbon shafts. Titanium carbon shafts were heads and shoulders above everything else 15 years ago. I put one in my 3wood waiting for a replacement 757 that broke. It hasn't left since.

Where you at (zip code would be fine)? I'll check on shipping and give you a price. I have a 9 loft. I haven't used it in almost 3 years so I'll need to check on condition.

ERCII as in circa 2000sh? or the newer ERCIII? Just wondering if you made a typo.

    Beres and PRGR for me.

If you are going to any place else in Asia, what you want in Japan will be cheaper there.
  6. Anyone looking for TN87s 3-GAP wedge? :tsg_smilie_whistle:
  7. I was looking for something around half a flex stiffer than the PT6 and maybe a tad less spin. I already have a lowish flight but spin the ball quite a bit, I tend to cast the club when I'm off. The PT7X is still there in the proshop begging for me to buy it already. I was going to put it in a HS9 that I have been eyeing, but so far reshafts have not been good in that comp head. I'll waiting for the Sumo to be out then. About 5 guys have played it and have said it is worth the wait. Keep up the great posts. We need contibutors like you on this site.
  8. Actually it was explained to me and I was not actually told it was "form forged", the explanation was similar to the Form-Forged process of Cleveland, whereby the head is initailly cast, then "forged" into the final product. The difference I think is the "form forging" of Honma/Beres is a 20+ step process which is double of the normal nmber of steps in a normal form-forging. Remember guys this is from I read in golf literature/marketing/brochures. I am no means a metallurgy or foundry expert. Again my view is material used is a bigger factor than process in feel. These Beres feel very very good. Honma has always used some super sort mild steel in their "castings". A lot of Japanese companies (i.e.:Maruman) use the same material in their castings as well and are just as soft-dingable.
  9. Great info....must've been tough to keep regripping...."using the same 51 gram grip" :) I was looking to pick up the PT7 X after experiencing that the PT6 stiff is too soft. Looks like it's a good thing I didn't get it.
  10. Form Forged from mild steel is what I was told on the Beres when I was in the Honma store in Malaysia last May.
  11. So does this statement end the forged vs cast debate :tsg_smilie_cool:
  12. A buddy has had the TC770s for 2 weeks now. He raves about the quality, forgiveness, etc. Bonus is that the short irons don't have the typical Japanese shovel look. They are more like the RAC CBs/TM300s in that respect. The reverse progression is there but you have to look hard. The downside is that they are too soft, they ding just by looking at them. Even more so than the TS Xblades, MR23s etc. I guess if Fourteen can make their casting feel so soft, their forgings are too much.
  13. Jack, The dual attack came about 10 years later. That is approximately 15 generations of clubs if you use the TM model. The LBs have benn on closeout for the longest time at the local Honma dealer (15 years on closeout). I think they are $20 new with Hagane steel and $30 new with the Titanium Carbon shafts. The shafts alone are worth it IMHO
  14. Pics? The "LB" series is late 80's early 90's. Came with the titanium carbon shafts which were light years ahead of it's time. In fact out of curiosity I put a 4 star Titanium carbon S1 shaft in a BB04 3 wood just last month. Still very good despite being a dozen year old technology. R1 will be a softish regular, be careful when tipping. The Titanium strands seem to really stiffen up quick when tipped.
  15. Juvic has been sponsored by Maruman for so long because of a local friendship. He could've gone elsewhere a long time ago but he values friendship more than $$$. Good thing he is making $$ otherwise that would've been tested really well. I know the local Maruman guy/distributor, I buy quite a few things from him. He usually has great putter hook ups. Nice to see the relationship/investment paying off for the guy. I wonder if these new Conductors are the new player's CBs he was telling me about 3 months ago. I used to play Maruman "Sparkle" blades a looooong time ago. Those were the squarest toes I have ever seen on a club. I hope Juvic plays well in the Sony Open.
  16. PT7

Chris, I found the PT 6 stiff (untipped too soft). There is a PT7 X new sitting in the proshop of my club for $200. I actually don't have a head to put it in, but that can be solved. Thank you for the reviews guys.
  17. PT7

I found the PT6 S too soft. How is the PT7 in X flex?
  18. 365 head? My friend is offering his to me as trade for my XDrive 390Pro Spec. I want the shaft in the 365, so I might sell the head if deal pushes through. Or how about the 390XDrive PS? It's just sitting in my basement.
  19. Someone has a set coming in about 3 weeks. Reviews to follow.
  20. IMHO material+design play a bigger factor than manufacturing process. Carbon steel will be softer than SS. Designs with mass behind the sweetspot will also feel sweeter than those without.
  21. 3 year old NikeT100, very picky shaft wise though because it is a low launcher. Feel is very "Tourstage" though. Look is so square and full face scoring lines close the deal.
  22. They look exactly like the Z101s but with maybe a wider sole. I can't really tell from that pic.
  23. I think the CBs have two versions. A "S" and a "R". One has a slightly wider sole and topline, could be slightly bigger as well.

The stock shaft in the HiBore/Japan release is a 62 gram Axiv (stiff flex). Just like in the US the Asian version is going down in price as well. I'm really intrigued by the Hi Bore. Has any one played the one with the stock Axiv?
  25. I don't know how to read/speak Japanese, but the graphics near the upper part say "the one and only" or some variation of that in different languages. It says "kaisa-isa" for my country.
