303 stainless or forged for softer feel?
Chris, Do you know what "soft steel" Honma and Maruman use for their castings. They feel like forged carbon steel to me.

LASIK eye surgery anyone?
xxio replied to technomarine's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearI had it done 6 years ago. I went from 1050 nearsighted to 275 nearsighted in my right eye. I could've had "touch ups" done to get it lower but it was scary when the doctor flips the retina over to use the laser. You are actually blind at that point.....I was like what if either one of us sneeze? I'm happy right now. I still wear glasses everyday. I used to wear contacts from when I woke up to just before sleeping. I wear contacts now just for sports activities including golf. Now I don't have to wear contacts through out the day I can now use normal glasses throughout the day instead of contacts or 1/2" glasses. Only one eye because I have a "lazy"/legally blind left eye that was complicated by a detached retina. That has a lot of complications for my game. 1. Depth preception especially short shots and while putting. 2. Keep wanting to "peek" from my good eye, makes me want to come out of a shot. 3. Alignment problems all the time. I keep aiming right on full shots and keep pushing short putts. But I love this game.

Blue Thunder shafts?
Joe, Willy had a "moving into the new house in the same village" sale. I got away with a couple of goodies.....I'll decide if I'll have the MR23s "Kwok'd" with TX Tours if I don't like the stock DGS200s. I understand about the Fujis and how strict they can get....we have an "underground charter dealer" here and he has to be very discreet.

Blue Thunder shafts?
Joe, good insight as always. Another question. Would you know if the "Fujis for _____ (fill in the blanks) Cleveland/TM/GolfSmith" carry the same quality control as the Platform/Speeder/International series? Otherwise wouldn't that be the same thing. Fuji marketing shafts that are "out of spec" themselves. To update you on our Biggest Ho in the Philippines. He just bought Japan MP32s. That means he will be moving something else to stay in his 8-9 set limit. I might be looking at hand me down MR23s soon.

Is the TaylorMade 757 Speeder a real 757 Speeder?
Except for the added weight of the ion plating...... Do you guys think that the ion plating which is supposedly 7-8grams makes a difference? The Fit On Six would now be a 60+ gram shaft?

Blue Thunder shafts?
Off spec doesn't mean you can't gain 20 yards, Switching from what?, What kind of swing he got?, Flex?, lenght? etc, etc. If the shaft fits his swing , any body can gain 20 yards, maybe even 30. Plus 20 yards means nothing if you gain 20% rough hit also, or maybe even gaining 20% OB. :o It's the same thing i'm buying from any major brand company and put my label and paint on it and spec them out my self and call it "G String" JOe LOL, your right about the shaft fitting thing. I guess my question should have been phrased like this..... What does Blue Thunder do? Do they take 1.)the "off spec" 661s/569s/etc and just repaint and sell or 2.)"sort" them out themselves into different models and then sell them? Option 1 is not good but option 2 is not so bad if you see specs you like. Also which Fujis are we talking about...Triax or Fit ON/Zcom? or even worse VPs

Blue Thunder shafts?
It's a fuji shaft that doesn't pass the quality control. That is the info straght from the source! Hope that help! Joe  Joe, what do you mean? Are they off spec weight wise? Off spec as to torque etc. I play with a guy who uses one in his K. He gained 20 yards from shaft switch to Blue Thunder alone no BS.

whats in your bag?
X Blades, RAC CBs, RAC wedges, 52 GM 900, and the TP were all from WBC. Everything else from somewhere else. Willy is on a TM 300 irons buying streak. I was telling him last year to get a set. He bought one. He liked it. He now has 2 and the one in my bag#3 is going to him as well. He now has 3. Thanks for the trade Will! We are trading places. I am heading towards sake, he is heading towards kool aid.

Taylormade Announces New Products
Chris, Please check again on the pricing of the TP CBs. I find it strange they are the same price as the LTs. I'm ready to pull the trigger....

TM J-Spec and Euro versions
I hope the advice I gave you helps and doesn't hurt. R7 Max is a very good driver but just too much $$$ for me right now. $580 over here might as well get a R7TP.
-
TM J-Spec and Euro versions
If you get a R7 Max try to get the 10.5 loft and with the 55 gram Mas2 by Fujikura. That was the best combo (for me and my freinds who have tried the R7Max). The 55 gram shaft will hold up pretty well even on hard swings. For reference I found the S flex only a tad soft and I normally prefer a Fuji Six S flex tipped 1 1/4" to 1 1/2" depending on bore depth. I would say the 55 gram Mas2 would favor comparably to the NV55. Plus you get a heavy head (better feeling head IMHO) when you get the lighter stock shafts!!!!

TM J-Spec and Euro versions
I have only hit the Xr05 not the Cti. That was almost 2 years ago. It was with a "speeder lite" in S flex. IIRC It was an 8.5. It was almost square and long but too light. The speeder lite is a decent shaft. I would take it over the Titleist "T Speeder". Played like a hard regular. I can't really compare to any of my current drivers because it's been a while. I just remember it was almost exactly the same size and shape as my Burner 860. I also felt the XR03 was better setting up over the ball at the time. I was so in the groove with my R300 Tour/757 that I was really looking for anyrthing else. No help huh....I'm sure the search feature at sites which have been in existence longer would help you more than my post.

Taylormade Announces New Products
It can be a good thing as well. If you don't buy with the thought of reselling at a good price later on. Golf equipment should never really be thought of as having good resale value (except when your on BSG). The owner of a golf store once told me once the shrink wrap is off the value of your product goes down 20%, each time someone swings it it goes down another 1%, By the time your done with a round of golf your club is now only 70% of it's brand new value. I got my 580XD Tour at $180 because prices are going down. Now I get to have a Tour head I can mess with.

TM J-Spec and Euro versions
As far as I know. Pricing and stock shafts. This is basing on my experience with the original XR03s and XR05s. The Japanese versions usually have "Speeder Lites" and the Euros usually have the TM stock shaft of the current models, in this case I think it would be the MAS by Fujikura. The Japanese version will cost around $60-70 more becuse of the shaft upgrade.

Taylormade Announces New Products
Chris the news item says $875 for the Forged TP. That is msrp? What is "street price"? What shafts can you get them in?

tour 580xd
3 rounds on it. Going to pull the shaft tomorrow to try my current shaft of choice (Fuji it On 6). Signature says I have it on but is actually 3 days away from being in the head. 8.5 loft head. Plays a little higher than that. Forgiveness is typical of 440cc head. They tend to go just straight. Workable very little. The only "bonus" I see over other heads especially the retail 580XD is the square face (mine may even be open), less noise, and slightly heavier head. Mine comes out to D2.5 at 45" with a YS 6 S my friend's retail is D2 but at 45.5" with the stock shaft. Seems smaller then the retail but only because of the different soleplate. Worth the $$$, maybe if you really need a square face, not so noisy, "cool tour factor" 440cc driver. If not you can always get lucky with a square G2, Cobra 440Tour, Wilson Pd5, etc.....

R7 Tp retail VS. R7 Tp tour
And to include a little thread jack, Jick and xxio are trying to rationalize buying new toys which they hadn't planned on getting. Suffice it to say that xxio with his 580xd tour and Jick with his retail r7 tp (both purchased for a song) have had no luck in the 'babe' magnet department, because one club lacks the facet of the other. Xxio has the cachet of yesteryear, and Jick has the newbie, but retail. However, If either of them offers me their toy, I will take the bait. Hahah. Hey.....I was planning to buy a driver remember I reserved 510TP 661 ($280) in X flex that the store couldn't find in their warehouse  but it worked out ok I found a 580XD tour/YS 6 in 9/10 for $100 less :smile1: . Still waiting for the shaft. Stop buying stuff in the US, hurry back so you can send me my shaft!!!! You are just jealous a sleeve of Nike One Black says you bought something "Tour" or "TP" in your 1 week visit to the US.

Yes Putters
So by my count Willy now has approximately 30 putters. He won't notice then when I pass by his house next week to "borrow" (without permission of course) either his Inspired by DD or maybe his 1.5 Proto CS.

japan white shaft stickers
Wow does this mean I had a "tour issue" Shimano Ultegra X....It was probably 100Xs better than their retail version  Jboy....I know I am an admitted equipment snob...on a budget at that. I don't think I have ever paid retail price on anything plus I hardly buy anything new anymore unless it is a really good deal. I buy used now because I know 99% of the time I'm going to "shaftenstein" the club at least 3xs anyway. :money:

japan white shaft stickers
I can't remember a Japanese driver/fairway wood that I have bought that doesn't have these stickers indicating weight, torque, flex, swingweight, length, etc. The Shimano Ultegra X I had even had the cpms on it!!! I take them off my clubs right away though. If I leave it on it makes me feel like the hacks who are out there swinging the 3 year old hawkeye/vft drivers with the faded bar code sticker still on at the bottom of the shaft.

The effects of shortening Project X shafts?
You just can not cut from the butt when you are dealing with sub-standard heads. Are you implying the Snake Eyes MB01/Smith and Wesson heads are "substandard"? In what way? Any proof to back that up. I enjoyed playing them before and would be interested in any inside information that you seem to have with regards to these heads. Btw aside from the crappy-rust right away DG Sensicore mine came with when I reshafted mine the heads were only +/- 1-1.5 grams from achieving the so called perfect 7 gram head progression. The only reason I stopped playing them was the offset and they were so soft they dinged up really fast. I had to get the lofts and lies checked every 35-40 rounds.

R7 Tp retail VS. R7 Tp tour
Other than the serial number, I'd like to highlight what xxio said. The Tour TP also doesn't come with the 8 extra weights. Also, having a Tour TP is great with the chicks. You can tell them you have a tour only serial number, you will get ooohs and ahhhs and you will gain more confidence. In the end, it will actually improve your driving and you game. Jovi Jovi, Don't forget you also get to post how much Tour is better than Retail......Oops I have a R580XD Tour currently in play. What do I do now????
-
R7 Tp retail VS. R7 Tp tour
Strangely enough when you buy a TOUR TP you actually get less weights than the RETAIL TP. I guess the pros set the weights they like and return the rest to the tour van.
