  1. Everybody is a somebody..... seriuosly do you have an email address of someone in Aldila. I'm thinking of picking a couple of sets for my buddies. I'm in Asia and don't like making phonecalls ijn the middle of the night. Thanks.
  2. Can you give me more info on the shafts on the J33 combos? Weight/taper tip/etc. Will you ship to Cebu, Philippines (6000) it is usually $70ish.
  3. makes me want to be a "scratch" golfer soon.
  4. Custom offset...the only thing that had me balk at getting 32s was the offset was more than my Cobra Forged SS and maybe just as much as my XBlades
  5. The time of the Ryder Cup alone is fast coming to an end. As the talent from other countries develop they will need team events to showcase their skills. The continent of Africa alone might give one of the Ryder Cup teams a good fight. The President's Cup "rest of the world" team just doesn't have enough slots.
  6. Oh man why did they have to go make them look like the RAC CBs. GD looked good because they looked different....like they were ahead of the technology curve.

  8. Just picked up a Xdrive 390 pro spec of a fellow TSG'r. It has the stock TXD 65 shaft in S flex. I find it a little shorter carrywise than my (10 yards) 8.5 XD Tour/661 (six snapped) and (15yards) 510TP/YS6 but about the same overall because this thing rolls out a lot. For those who have hit 390 pro spec, is it really this shorter carrywise than most? I want to keep it in my rotation because it feels good and it is soooo forgiving. I never miss a fairway but sometimes a miss**t is 20yards short. It is not the shaft length because I put a V50 on it and now plays at 45" as well. I am pondering a reshaft but I only have 1 Fuji Six left. For some strange reason the ones in my XD Tour and my R300 Tour both snapped within a week.
  9. There are tons of different Honma graphite irons shafts. There were the famous 1/2/3/4/5 star titanium carbon shafts, I have had boron-graphite shafts that came in different "levels" (and different colors) as well. My Honmas were mostly from the early to mid/late 90's. This was before recievership. The ones I had/have generally I have found they play a full flex weak, the shafts are in the high 80's-low90's range. The Titanium Carbon ones are really good. If you get the correct flex dispersion will be almost as good as steel. The thing I find is they build them at Japanese lengths and then maintain the "balance" by using really heavy heads. I am in the process of reshafting a set of PP727s with TX Tours.

TaipanLi, Maybe be it's my steep swing then that somehow spins the X01 a little more than the X01soft :smile1: . I also have a pipeline to grade AAA Tourstage X01 and X01S balls. It's at one of my home courses that I play once a month $.50/ball for grade AAA. Lots of Japanese Tourists at that ravine course make for a lot of lost balls. I've even picked up a couple of rare balls to try at that course (Air Bidan, the new BEAMs, etc.). The X01Hs sound right up my alley. BTW I've finished my doz of ZURs. I should've traded them in instead for a couple sleeves of at least a UTri Tour.

None so far for me. I have been in search of a replacement as well because the X01 is so expensive. TaipanLi and I went down the same road with the Z-Ur. Disappointing ball. The Urx is a better ball. I prefer the X01 over the X01S. The S stands for "soft". I presume it has a lower compression because it spins less on partial shots and chips. I have not played the BS330 but the cover of the X01 I would rate as decent. The best cover among all the TS balls that I play which has the best balance on playability is the <UX-s> which is supposedly the U tri Tour but for me the <UX-s> seems to putt better than the U-Tri Tour (not as clicky). I saw in the Dynasty Cup thread a pic of a X01-H? Anyone know what that ball is? Not a lot of help but a friend says the Nike Black for him plays close enough.
  12. Way to go "Angel"! I used to play with his brother Micheal. Angel would join us every so often when he was still an AM. Tee to green it was like what is this doing still being an AM? When on/around the green it was....Oh ok now I see.

What if I'm talking playability and forgiveness? TNs will have the history but performance and feel go to?

Which to keep? No longer enough game for blades but want to keep one set to enjoy every now and then.

Except for the cheaper to do forgings in Japan part.....Okay agreed..... agree to disagree. You say American craftsmanship and innovation as better. I say that the Japanese have better craftsmanship and innovation. Done. Strange about the smiley coming out like that though. I guess that causes lots of misunderstandings.

Those are US facts. When Nick Faldo won the Masters in '96 he was using a precept "double cover" ball which already had been out in the Japan market for about a year. I played the Precept Tour "double cover" and the harder sibling the "dynawing double" cover previous to Faldo's win. The ball was only released in the US after the Masters win which is in April'96. The craze over the low compression balls started in the US with the Precept Lady. The Altus Newing and other Japan low compression balls I have seen in play since the early 90's. Lightweight steel shafts (sub 100 grams). The NS pro 95 in it's different iterations have been out quite a while IIRC around 5 or so years. If you want to compare the TT XL quality with a NS Pro then good for you. The newer/better lightweights like the TX90-TX tour-DGSL have been out less than that. Harrison started putting titanium and other materials to reinforce their shafts when? I played a Honma Titanium-Carbon 3 star shaft in a driver in 1992-93 which by the way had an interchangeable weight plug in the bottom back of the club to adjust swingweight and overall weight and I bought the club used so I don't know the exact release date. Frank Thomas invented graphite shafts a very good invention. That is why I used innovation and invention as separate words because they mean different thing. You can innovate by just taking a product and making it better. Otherwise we would be saying everything golf is invented by an Englishman because that where everything golf innovated from. Composite clubs....composite tops.....even also "market hypes" are usually released ahead in Japan. I was not downplaying American products. The Japanese products are just more innovative and definitely more expensive nowadays while American products are more concerned with the marketing aspects of their products. I never said US craftmanship was bad. Unfortunately I have not been in the US in about 4 years now. I have also not encountered a US manufactured product even in the US company stores here in a long time. Even the RL/Nautica stores here don't have "Made in the USA" tags on them. Golf products...aside from Ping irons what OEM can show me "American craftsmanship"? SC? Where are his retails made nowadays? I hope you don't honestly think he can churn out that many putters and keep his margins at 200%. RJB? I would probably agree with you because I have always admired his craftsmanship but I don't know where his Hoganardi putters are made nowadays? With the Cally machine behind them I doubt if they are still wholly made in the US. I bet if google or whatever search engine you used could search in Japanese for you your results would be different. And for the guy who did this.... :-) .... I would guess that the :-) is mostly probably a US invention. Does that make you proud? Here's to your proud invention :-)

Not an American company vs Japanese Company comment.... but it seems the Japanese "innovate/invent" ahead of the Americans. Multi-layer balls, low compression balls, Hi end graphite shafts, stable lightweight steel shafts were all introduced in the Japanese markets way ahead (years) of their American counterparts. The research and development is far more advanced in Japan in golf clubs.
  18. Tariq, I got Ali Gs side when I posted on that board as well. His first answer was "incomplete". I got extra info later on that pieced it all together. Shame another company (GD comes to mind)that could've made huge strides but other issues come into play.

  22. I have a really really rusty wedge but it was an RTG to begin with so I don't think it should be allowed count.
