  1. Hey, thanks for the breakdown in the different shaft characteristics, Tats. I've been interested to try a new speeder shaft, as they released newer versions of some of their old ones last year, but can't find any information on them as they are Japan only (except the 757). My only other concern (besides lack of info) about buying a speeder is that they are more for the quick transition type swing that loads the shaft well, right?
  2. Saw a documentary a couple of years ago on this. Pretty darn sad. But its hard to uproot a tradition that's been ingrained into the fabric of a people's culture. Doesn't make it any less sad to me, though.
  3. I'm glad it launches well from the tee box, but does that 18* ute get up easy from tight lies? I probably don't swing as hard as you, so I don't expect to get 230, even off the tee. I'll be installing a gd ut65.
  4. From a solely aesthetic viewpoint, I'm not a fan of that badge
  5. Steve, Akapur, and anyone else who owns one, what romaro loft ute do you play? I'm most likely will go with the 21*, but am teetering back and forth on whether I should get the 18* fw or ute. I just need a gap filler, but also whichever is easier to get up. What you guys think?
  6. Having Epon back as a purchase option here at TSG, or anywhere else, would definitely be met with a warm welcome. However, there are still so many excellent options to choose from that I can't complain.
  7. My impression from the descriptions that I've read is that the primary difference between the satin and ip black versions were the square vs slightly open face angle. Is the IP black version also deeper than the satin, or is the satin the same face height?
  8. Ya those Yammy Tour wedges look sweet, but I was looking for a slightly thicker top line. So I just picked up a pair of Romaro IS sole wedges. Supposed to have nice spin, but also some sweet feel with that s20c + copper underlay. Hopefully I made the right choice. I had some good advice though. Along with picking up a used set of Yammy wedges from Stew, I'm really tempted to pick up some cold forged Vokeys. I know some people love their drivers and other long games clubs. Some collect tour putters. But for me, with my short game being my bread and butter, I just can't get enough of all the nice wedges coming out year after year, especially JDM. It's like candy to me.
  9. Very interesting read. Tom Wishon is IMO one of the most trusted name in club fitting and technology. Whether he's right or wrong (I think he's mostly right with the information he publishes), golf is a game or risk vs reward. Shorter clubs might make more sense for most golfers, but some of us will sacrifice consistency for the chance at an amazing tee shot a few times a round. It makes us feel like kings
  10. Man, I am really starting fall in like with Romaro Ray as a company. Just from what I've read, the specs analyzed, and pics drooled over, I think I can stock my whole bag with Romaro clubs, driver to wedges. Chris, those Romaro Type R irons: do they look and perform more like Yamaha V forged or D forged?
  11. The description says it has a "slightly open face angle". Does anyone know what the exact face angle is? Does slightly mean 0.5* open of more like 1.5* open? The black looks way, way cooler, but I certainly don't need a super open face angle.
  12. Haha for sure. Good luck.
  13. Wow, can you stop posting yamaha wedges for sale? You keep teasing the wedge monger inside of me.
  14. Yo, you just revived a 5 1/2 year old thread. Good luck finding these. Not going to be easy.
  15. Hahaha, This is a very valid point.
  16. Any info here would help. So if you know anything comparing these two, please do. There's a set of 2013 on the BST that I'm interested in, but need more info before I can commit with an offer.

Tario is probably correct, as usual, if he is referring to the 2012 VG3. I was referring to the 2010 model which is less compact. I should have mentioned that.
  18. Real quick: which launches higher faster, and which is more forgiving? I am assuming that the feel of these iron sets are pretty similar. When I get around to upgrading my irons, those 2 criteria are the most important to me. I actually prefer the look of the 2013.
  19. Such a beautiful shape and design. I think it would have looked most impressive only the yamaha logo and nothing else. Such candy.
  20. WHat spin rates do you get with that blue ball?

Order of forgiveness is the VG3, Onoff, and then the Callaways, most to least. Same order for heel/toe length.
  22. Cool, I'll look forward to any future reviews then. I'm still going with the TRPX just b/c I'm looking for distance and performance over feel right now. The shorter the iron I can use for my 2nd shot, the better my game will be. Tario, your status says that "TRPX has made life on the links a lot easier". That's exactly what I'm looking for.
  23. Any feedback on these, particularly the Type-S. Have these been totally overshadowed by the TRPX and Maxima? I'm about to place an order with Tario for a TRPX, but just want to make sure I'm not going to be missing out on anything here b/c I typically get addicted to the feel of ONOFF, Yamaha, Epon and the likes.
  24. Still available? Pm sent.
  25. Thanks for the follow up, Stew. As usual, very comprehensive review.
