I enjoy the newest eye candy as much as anyone else, and I've certainly appreciated your boldness (and budget) to give what seems like every player's cb/mb made under the sun good run. But it may very well be more bold to keep older clubs in the bag in the face of the ever-changing landscape of golf equipment. Playing with what actually works is always the best way to see lower scores. Cheers, Stew. It's good to know your own game. I aim to get to know mine.

honma driving iron
I want to try these out pretty bad. I love bagging DI's. They look cooler in the bag :) Though several have said it's a forgiving for a DI, forgiveness is relative to the individual's ball striking and all around skill. My concern is that it won't be forgiving enough still. I have an older Srixon zr-uti 20*, which I think TSGers kinda liked a few years back. How is the Honma in forgiveness and overall size compared to my old Srixon? For point of reference, I've never really thought that the Srixon was "easy" to hit off the deck unless the fairways were dry and fluffy, which it tends to be during droughts in the Midwest. And forget about the rough. So, if the Honma is less forgiving than that one, unfortunately, I probably won't even try it out. Off the tee I'm generally a happy camper though.

Thanks for the write up, Chris. I'm curious, what did they do to be able to keep the flight down? Everything in the design, from the cavity design, sole width, tunsten weighting, etc., seems to point to a high launching iron. Did you mean that the trajectory was just lower than expected or actually low, like a player's cavity?

Good stuff for pretty good prices. I'm sure someone will eventually wake up to the deal they could be getting here. I think it's just that time of year where everyone is looking forward to the new 2015 releases. Isn't the Japan Golf Fair going to be coming up here pretty soon?

Here's a snap shot review. I think Chris wrote it. I trust his reviews, even though his swing is completely different than mine. His recommendations are analysis are consistently good. If it wasn't Chris's review, than I don't know whose. http://www.tourspecgolf.com/blog/jbeam-glorious-custom-driver/ Based on the review, the stock shafts are legit, as long as you like softer feeling tips, which I do, and higher launching, which I also need.

Thanks for replying, Chris. I probably won't go the GF route just b/c I hate to wait for mods on clubs. I checked out the Modart R50, which looks pretty cool. Very cool and unique twist on the traditional anser design. Maybe the best interpretation Ive seen in a long while. I don't see a Modart mallet in the shop though. Also, how much firmer is s25c than s20c? I'm wondering b/c I'd like to get a sense of feel with the Modart over Epon's i33. Thanks.

Ryoma or Romaro?
I'm going to try my hand with a mallet putter in 2015. I'm tying to decide between the Ryoma m3 or Romaro garnet. Can anyone offer any feedback regarding either of these? The Romaro is GSS, and I've putted with a couple of those before so I can at least guess how it would feel. But what does this "special alloy" from Ryoma feel like? Similar to any other popular putter? The Ryoma seems to be in the top 5 putter at TSG store, so i hope it won't be hard to get feedback. Thanks, gents.

Where to get yamada putters
RLL, that finish is amazing. It almost looks like a copper camo pattern... and I love my camo. My 85029 is pretty much mint condition,but now I'm thinking of sending it in just to have Gold's do that pattern. And maybe his face milling too.

Thanks for your input, guys. I certainly appreciate being able to get advice like this through the TSG forums. I'm sure all of us have gone the traditional route of tipping 46" driver shafts for our FW, but have any of you tried using dedicated fairway wood shafts, like the TRPX 1st Msg FW? If so, how did it work out for you?

Forgiving irons from the last 5 years?
Any year titleist vg3 (2010,2012) should be forgiving and high launching enough for anyone not extremely lacking in power. I hear the 2014 vg3 irons are the best performing yet, but I haven't tried those. I prefer the look of the 2012 best.

TRPX 1st Messenger FW shaft
Has this shaft been out long enough for a review? I've never installed a shaft solely dedicated for fw. I'm familiar with how ilima, kaili, ad dj shafts play in fairway woods. Any comparison to those would help greatly, especially regarding shaft load ... easy or hard. Thanks.

Hi, gang. Haven't been on the the course or in these forums for quite a while due to an injury. But I'm feeling better now and it's time to get back into the swing of the things...pun sort of intended there. The first question I have upon my return has probably been asked at least once over the years, but I'm going to ask it again... I usually play the same shaft in my driver and 3 wood for feel purposes. However, I'd like to start practicing with a heavier version of the same shaft in my 3 wood. For example, let's say I was playing Ad DI 6sr in both driver and 3w, but wanted to go with 6sr in my driver and a heavier 7s in my 3w. If I left the 7s untipped into my 3w, would it play softer than the stiff flex it was intended to play? If so, how much softer do you think? I'm asking b/c I don't normally use stiff flex shafts, but some manufacturers and their shafts, like the example given above, don't make their heavier shafts in weaker flexes, like R or even SR. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks, Shank
