  1. What is the sound difference like when you use hotmelt vs foam? I have used a foamed head before and it was really muted and made the impact sound like hitting a baseball with a wooden bat. Have not had a chance to hit a hot melted head before.
  2. I have a ZCom Pro 95 saved for something like this as well!! This would be a perfect head for it! A driver that can be worked like a hybrid!!
  3. I think it would be but I would also go for a heavier head like close to 210g Did those Kaili 100g come in Stiff? No way I could swing one in X !!
  4. I am really digging this "Naked" idea. Cobra did this with one of their Long Tom drivers a few years back and I thought that was cool. I might need to do one for myself. Do I just take a head to some one who can do sandblasting?
  5. Comparo to the G30 head.... perfect feel and sound is what I read from the Japanese reviews. I might have to get one just for range use. :) I would also consider shafting it up with a uber heavy shaft ( 80 to 100+ g ) and make it 43.5 " or something. Would probably need go with a higher loft in that case. What's the price on these drivers head only?
  6. Darn... and I just got myself a Mizuno MP H5 3 iron....
  7. So I really liked the VT511 from a feel and sound perspective. which one of their new models have the same feel and sound but with much more forgivness? Basically looking for a G30 and 915 killer with better looks , sound and feel.
  8. sent you an RFI (request for information ) on this head.
  9. I agree. This head is not exactly new either. It was introduced last summer. just can't keep up with all the new releaes from smaller boutiques.
  10. i just read up a write up on this non conforming head from Baldo's sister brand NUD (pronounced "new dee") called Ghibli. I think "Ghibli" was a name of a car from Maserati originally from the '60s .... and reintroduced for their sedans recently. anyway, the review said that this was a non-conforming head with feel and sound of a well behaved conforming head. At the moment, it comes only in hi cor but website says they have plans for a conforming version. sole design looks really cool.... well the weight ports kinda look like a slanted dual exhast tip! :) Thinking about trying one if the head weight can be adjusted to 200g or more using the weight screws and not make it too draw biased. here's the link. http://nud-japan.com/products/
  11. I 'll do a full followup on the shaft after the head comes back. From of the few shots i had, all the shots ended up to the right of my target. and nothing to the left. the description specifically calls out anti left on this shaft so perhaps this is what i was seeing.
  12. we talking about the same kinda "foam" job?! :)
  13. Heads are on the way back to Tokyo to get a foaming job. Will report again when I have them back!!
  14. Another thing you might consider to get the cpm down is to add some weight to the head. if the insertion depth of the shaft is too little, it can cause it to break. in general, 1.25" is considered minimal depth for graphite shafts. in either method, the swing weight of the club will increase slightly provided you don't cut the butt end.
  15. OK went out to a 9 hole after work ... no warm up and no range time. Result.... horrible swing. :) About the driver. Unfortunately, I need to tweak it a bit. 1. First and foremost the head is LOUD!! If anyone has tried the KZG PFT300 You would know what I am talking about. I need to foam this head. Chris, help me! 2. Trajectory at 10.5deg is a bit higher than I like. Will set it down 1/2 a degree with the "O" setting. That should do the trick. 3. Distance One of the longest hits I had in a while! Perhaps longer than G30. Defintely longer than my 153. 4. Feel: Very soft at impact but hot. I think if the sound gets muted, it might feel even softer. Now for the shaft: 1. Very smooth!! Being 80T and all, I thought perhaps it would have a glassy feel. Not at all. Smooth as a Diamana Blue or smoother. 2. No sudden surprise kicks. Swing felt continuous Was able to feel the head. 3. I would probably end up tipping it 1/4" to 1/2" to make it a tiny bit more stable. I will give it another range session tomorrow before sending it in for a foam job. Will let you know if I get different results.
  16. I really like the matt black finish of the shaft as well as the satin gold graphics they used. Makes it look very pristine! I previously had problems with the chrome finish on the Basileus Z where it started peeling where I regripped.
  17. The 3 wood is going to get a Crazy FW50 Sigma which I bought from a fellow member. I unfortunately do not have a good history with Crazy driver shafts in general ... I either chose the wrong flexes before or something.... We'll see what happens with the FW. 2 more hours until I can go hit it!!

    If only that was a 70 S !! GLWS!
  19. Will definitely keep you posted. I agree that they are very under rated. Probably because the company is so small and do not do heavy advertising. The "P-tune" name also does not sound too performance oriented either. :) With the right marketing strategies , I think they could grow their business tremendously. The face angle is slightly closed at the "N" setting ( I think 0.5deg... ) but I will try all the positions to get the best result. Size looks perfect. Definitely shallower than the 313 and slightly bigger from the top so it inspires confidence. When setting it side by side with the 153 , the Epon looks smaller from the top even though the Epon is 460cc vs the 450cc of the P-tune.
  20. In 2013, I had played the PG-313 for an entire season which doesn't happen very often for me. I had a FEX Max WBQ in it and it worked wonderfully. I hit most drives very well with the 313 with occasional misses as pulls. It's my swing , I know .... I loved everything about the driver but I was also seeking just a bit more forgiveness. Since then, I probably tried and played 5 to 6 different drivers in the last season and did play the Ping G30 for a couple of months towards the end of the season. The G30 definitely gave me the forgiveness I was seeking with the distance performance to go with it. But as many of you know, the sound on those heads are just annoyingly loud. After a couple of tournaments, I just said "no more" of that loud "CLANK" sound. So off to the bay it went. From late last season in to winter, I have been seeking a driver that would provide me good forgiveness with good sound and feel plus enough weight so I don't have to go super long with the length. I settled with an Epon AF-153 and paired it with Waccine GR 77 and is currently my gamer and very satisfied with it. Then a month ago... a new limited edition shaft was introduced by Triphas. AAA 2015.. only 500 made!! . Interesting. OK.... so I go buy a copy of Turbotax did my taxes over a weekend and found out I am getting some tax back.... great timing!! :) Don't get me wrong. I am totally happy with the 153/Waccine combo now but the inner Ho in me keeps wanting yet another "backup" driver .... Alright... let's get the AAA shaft! But what head do I use? Another 153? maybe... naaa that's too boring. But I still do want the properties of the AF-153. Big and forgiving, good sounding/feeling head but perhaps a bit hotter faced. Epon heads, as Chris might also attest, do not have the hottest faces on the market. OnOff 358 driver looked pretty promising.... I want a build with the AAA and unfortunately OnOff does not offer custom shafts outside of their OnOff and Roddio range of shafts. I even thought about some USDM heads like 915D2 etc... Do I really want to use such a premium JDM shaft in a plain USDM head? Absolutely not!! Not a good match in my book. After a weekend or two surfing on the web to find a good head to pair up with the AAA shaft... I remembered the great success I had with the P-Tune a couple of years ago and I knew about the newer model they had released last year. " PG-414" Compared to the PG-313. the 414 is 10cc larger head at 450cc. A bit more shallow design. Hmmmmm..... okay.. 11 deg at neutral? .. probably a bit high for me. I can adjust it. When I had the PG313 it was set to 10 deg and I only remember mid to low penetrating flights with that driver. Did some additional reading on the 414 and determined that the loft was not going to be an issue. This is the head I want!! As usual, Chris helped my tremendously in the order process and exactly 14 days since the order my driver arrived! Thank you Chris!! Have not even removed the shrink wrap yet :) I do notice significant improvement in the overall quality compared to the PG-313. I think their QC has matured in the last 2 years. I am very happy with the build and look forward to trying out the driver hopefully tomorrow. In addition to the driver, I also found out they just came out with a new FW head the "PG-FW V2" So I got a 3 wood head in 16 deg. Wow!! This is by far the most beautiful looking fairway wood head I have every seen!! Has just the right amount of size and deep face ( not too deep ) It is perfect! Looking forward to shafting it and trying it as well. In the meantime, please enjoy the pics comparing against the 153 as well as the FW wood head pics
  21. I wish they continued thier X-Blade line.
  22. No one knows Betti? I think they are from another planet. :) Beautiful putters!

  24. heck of a deal for a brand new 153
  25. Here's to hoping! "AAA will come out on top!" I was out playing yesterday with the MT State Senior champ and he had the straightest low spin drives with his 915 d2 with the stock Rogue. He really likes it. I should have my AAA next week!!
