  1. I actually recommend the 705 series over the 707 or 709 series. until 705, I believe the heads were Endo made and had great feel and sound at impact whereas the adjustable models in subsequent years were not and felt much firmer off the face. I still have an X-Drive P02-6 limited head which was a 705 series head but a 365cc head and it has the best feel and sound out of all drivers I have ever tried.
  2. I currently use an Epon AF-202HT ( High Trajectory ) from a few years back. Ti head, a bit expensive..... but it is the most forgiving fairway wood I have ever owned! Very shallow but not too massive looking. Best of all, has a trajectory of a 4 wood but distance of a 3 wood!! I have mine paired up with a Diamana Al'Islei 83 from a few years back, and boy, this combo is truly flawless! I do not change my 3 wood too often simply because I feel it is the most challenging club in my bag to hit it right, especially off the deck. My back up is a 2007 JDM Taylormade VSteel paired with a Rombax Prototype 80B.
  3. Welcome to the forum!! For a 10 year span, you could find some nice forged CB set from Japan for less than $250 easily. Yamaha, Yonex, Tourstage, Onoff, PRGR, Fourteen, Royal Collection, Mizuno, Srixon just to name a few. Japan only model Taylormade, Callaway, Titleist are also very interesting and would totally fit your budget. If you are really on a budget, older Yonex Cyberstar forged or Nanov Tours are some of my favorites. some available for under $200. Shaft wise, DG S200 or NS Pro 950GH are the norm for forged CB of that era.
  4. Doesn't the C.O.R determine how "hot" a face of a driver is? If two drivers one with DAT-55 and another with KS-ELF had the same C.O.R, wouldn't they go the same distance provided that spin and launch angle are the same? Maybe this is too simplified of an assumption?
  5. I received my Yamada "Dream 54" putting stroke trainer today. First impression is that ... well it feels a bit weird. I enforces you to stroke the putter straight back and forth which in itself is unnatural while keeping the face of the putter square throughout the stroke. for now I am just going to keep faith in the thing and practice for a while. Time will tell if this method is going to work for me our not.
  6. Thanks Chris! Very very tempting.
  7. Gavirty Golf has their shafts manufactured by Fujikura is my understanding. But the design comes from Gravity Golf.
  8. Do you guys use the Expancel stuff? Also, I have read somewhere that foaming impacts sound, weight and spin rate. I would be interested to know how much of impact it has on spin rate. Are you seeing lower spin with your foamed head?
  9. Not aware of anyone but TSG :)
  10. Actually, the rule says to include a paper with name and date included in the pic WITH the equipment. This is to avoid malicious users to potentially use some pics from other sites and claim that they have something in possession when they actually don't. I notice that not a lot of people are actually following this rule. Please understand that I am not trying to attack you personally. I know this rule exist because of previous issues and damage some members have experienced. Only way to make this BST safe is for us members to all embrace this rule. That said, would like to see the pics of the back side of the heads.
  11. That looks really interesting. I might try that out.
  12. Great observation!! Yes, the intended purpose of the "Dream 54" is to train your stroke for a consistent square impact so you can improve your putting inside of 2m. ( approx 6.5 ft ) I guess I'll find out how it might potentially impact my longer putts. For now, I would be more than happy if I could consistently sink 4 and 5 footers. :)
  13. Having been reading Yamada-san's autobiography book that came with the putter I ordered direct from him. In the book was a section which explained his putting stroke philosophy of keeping the face of the putter square throughout the stroke. I was a bit skeptical and did not think that was even physically possible. What the heck! Nothing better to do for another 2 months. So I immediately started to practice his stroke on the carpet and so far seeing some improved consistency in the direction of my putts. He also has this putting stroke trainer called "Dream 54. " Decided to give it a shot. Should be here in a couple of weeks. Will report back once I have it. In the meantime, what type of putting aid or trainer have you used and what kind of results have you seen?
  14. Thanks guys. I am just a bit concerned about turning down the tips on these because of the very different construction of the shaft using a braided carbon construction vs rolled carbon sheets. Maybe it does not make a difference either way but I wanted to know what method the manufacturer would support. Perhaps I just need to choose a set of heads with .370 hosel.
  15. I am wanting to try these out but the tip size is .370" How would you best combine these shafts with a .355" heads? Ream the hosel of the heads? or shave the shaft down to fit .355"? Also, looks like these shafts are not club specific meaning you may need to adjust the length and tip cut for each club. Is this correct? Maybe too soon to ask but has anyone tried these out yet? any feedback on trajectory and feel? turning 48 this year and want to try out some lighter shafts that I can use going forward but don't want to sacrifice dispersion or feel. Thanks!
  16. I have read some great things about this head. Not sure who makes this though. Let us know when you try it!

    Super deal!
  18. James Patrick is said to be the successor grinder to Bob Vokey. I think he closed his own business after joining Titleist I believe he actually trained in Japan before he started his business. Would be interesting to see his creations under the Titleist brand.
  19. 440 Zero!! Did not see that coming !
  20. I believe Waccine has theirs OEM'd by Fujikura. At least they were initially...
  21. I just realized the overall head shape resembles that of AF153. From the shape, I am guessing super forgiving and higher launch but still geared towards players?
  22. Review on sound feel and forgiveness please!!!

I hear you my friend! I have the same concern as I am turning 48 this year. But since you are swinging 105 to 110 .. you shouldn't be too concerned. At least not yet :)
