I'll need to try the new Modus 115!
The black limited edition looks nice, but not sure why they didn't do the logo in the signature red!! would have looked much better. Gonna wait for the normal version.

I'll need to try the new Modus 115!
From what I read thus far, the new Modus 115s are of the 105, 125 family with high kick point. The raw weight of 115 is actually heavier than the Modus 120, which is somewhat confusing, but I would expect the 115 to perform midway between the 105 and 125 in terms of trajectory and spin. When I got fitted with the Project X LZ 5.5, the other shaft that performed similarly well was the Modus 105 S. However, Modus 105 S felt a bit too light for me and a bit too high trajectory. I'll need to try these 115s as they should fit me well. The only thing I am not impressed wth the PX LZ is the poor weight tolerance. When assembling my set, I had used tip weights ranging from 2 to 8 grams to get the correct swing weight all because the shaft weights are so off. Based on my past experience with Nippon shafts, I would not have weight tolerance issues. Also, I am hoping they feel better at impact.

Project X IO Comparison
My understanding is that the IO is the successor to the PXi. I am currently fit into the LZ which is middle of the range fits the broadest swing profile. The IO as you would know are designed to produce higher launch with some added back spin compared to the LZ. Love the new brushed finish of the LS and IO. Those Satin DOA heads will match perfectly with the IOs.

Driver head with toe forgiveness
JBeam Bullet was supposedly designed with lessening the effects of mis hits on the toe. The CG location is slightly biased towards the toe side. They said strikes on the toe were less likely to end up in a hook and distance not compromised. Having said that, from my personal experience, different shafts provide different striking patterns on the face. For me, a shaft with stiffer tip and low torque usually helps me strike the ball more consistently at the middle of the face. Shafts that have active (or softer) tip section, I end up hitting the toe section more often primarily due to drooping of the shaft at impact.

Yamada Stock Shaft
I actually don't know what they use for stock. But I recommend Shimada's stepless (NSTP) series with .370 tip. They are clean looking thanks to the stepless design and very high quality. Benock uses them for their stock. (NSTP-120)

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!
nobmontana posted a post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearI hope everyone is enjoying Christmas day safely where ever you might be!! 2020 has certainly been different and challenging and even devastating for many. I'd say my family were one of the lucky ones where I still had a steady job and my wife and daughter continued to work as essential workers. Golf in the U.S. saw a huge uptick in the number of rounds played this year. That's a good thing for the golf community. Apparently, the only other year that had a bigger surge was 1997 when Tiger came into the golf scene! In any case, I am really hoping and praying that we are indeed headed towards recovery from this pandemic. For those working the frontline in the midst of the horrible ongoing outbreak, thank you for all you have sacrificed thus far and thank you for all you do each day. Wishing everyone here on the forum a safe and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

Charlie Woods
nobmontana replied to Hutch's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearNot just the very mature swing... he had some serious distance using junior length clubs. He had a 3 or 5 wood that went like 175 yds....

SOLD: ONOFF Labospec 358 Driver head 9.5 degree
Yes... very good looking head indeed! Despite all the great reviews on this head, I've actually not tried it! At the time I was confidently playing an Epon AF-153 which has a similar profile as this Labo head. But now that I have 2 of my woods replaced with Labospec clubs, I have been staring at this thing!!! Then again, I also love my current Ping G410 LST set up.

Picked up an OnOff Labospec RD-247 R5 fairway
The RB-247 U3 Hybrid arrived yesterday... it's shafted with the stock Labospec Shinari U70 in Stiff... As with many of the stock Japanese club shafts, I was not expecting much from it.... WRONG!! Though I've only had a short range session, this UT is so much more forgiving than my current gamer Adams A12 Pro.... The Shinari shaft is so smooth but not whippy. In my 20 shots or so, all shots were pretty straight to a baby draw... easy to hit a fade too. getting about 200 yards I think. Plenty of height to stop on the green too which I was not getting from my Adams. I'll need to re-grip since the stock OnOff grip is just too small for me. But I think this stock head shaft combo is excellent as is. Very happy with it!! On the other hand, I am again tinkering with the shaft in the R5 5 wood. I have a ATMOS Black Tourspec 5TX in my G410 LST driver and love the consistency and predictability of my shots lately with it. So I thought I'd put in the same shaft in the R5 head. Well, it works very well! Tad lower trajectory than the FEx BX70 and it is also about 10g lighter too...

You should correct the original posting too .... TT Monaco's are uber rare especially in Stiff flex and hold a certain premium value.

Gong
6 deg on the 52 deg and for the 58, there were two types A and H ( Taken from PRGR Staff Azuma Yano and Hideto Tanihara ) Type A was 10 deg bounce and Type H was 6 deg Your last pic shows Type A .. so 10 deg bounce.

Gold’s Factory Putter mod
You need to arrange the work through TSG. I believe. If you are outside of Japan, you can't do direct transactions with Gold's as far as I understand.

Refinish Putter
Here are some pics of my refinished Seven VS-R made of Sandvik Stainless Steel that I just got back from NorCal putters. They did a deep milled face with Tour Raw finish. (This is starting to be my choice of finish for putters!! ) The finish is great and meticulous. The face milling is good but not perfect. When the milling marks interweave each other, it usually creates a nice uniform horizontal line across the face. but mine did not turn out completely uniform. which suggest that perhaps the face was placed somewhat diagonal against the milling bit.... It's not terrible and probably does not affect play at all. I'll get over it. As for the rest of the service, they are very detail oriented. The head was boxed up in an original shipping box that has their logo printed. The plastic bag they used to pack the head was even heat sealed. also included a nice printed postcard size literature with tips on how to perform maintenance on your putters. Their e-commerce site had no issues. All in all a very good experience. I just wish the milling turned out a bit better. If you are looking for just a refinish of your putter heads, I would safely recommend them.

Picked up an OnOff Labospec RD-247 R5 fairway
I have now tried a couple of different shafts for this 5 wood. First tried the Loop FW7 in SX which was pretty good but felt a bit heavy. Then tried a lighter ATMOS Black Tourspec 5TX which is the same shaft I have in my driver.... This was not a good match.... Then, I used a Fire Express 2014 Prototype 1 (AKA BX70) and this is working well so far. I'll play this set up for now. Distance is averaging about 210 carry with 15 to 20 yards of roll... so total of about 230 yards which is really all I want from a fairway wood. Glad I made the switch from a 3 wood to this 5 wood!! Now waiting on a matching 21 deg RB-247U Hybrid !! 🙂

P-tune fws
Those are the original versions. I have had the newer models PGFW V2. good heads. I think these original ones were a bit more compact and deeper faced.

Refinish Putter
I had an Evnroll refinished by Labworx. They don't do plating. but their Tour Matte finish is amazing!! I have my Seven VSR with Norcal Putters now.. getting the face deep milled. should be done soon. Also had a Geo Galaxy refinished in Black by Tom Slighter here in Seattle one time. He did a good job.

Picked up an OnOff Labospec RD-247 R5 fairway
My R5 arrived today. Went straight to the range to try it out. The shaft is a LABOSPEC Hashiri 50 Stiff which is a bit too light and a bit too flexy. The power trench slit on the top wasn't too bad. I probably won't notice it after a while. While dispersion was all over the place due to the shaft, I saw some good distance numbers close to or about the same as my 3 wood. Feel and sound were pretty nice as well. Not super high pitched. Soft but punchy metallic sound. So far so good!! Will reshaft over the weekend...

Which is easiest and more forgevines #4 iron?
Recently put together a forgiving half set (AGAIN) 4,6,8,P 6-P are Scratch EZ-1 V2 irons. Pretty forgivng and feel is nice. 4 iron is a TW737P ... this was actully the biggest surprise for me. The "P" stands for pocket cavity and the TW717, TW727 and TW747 as well as the current TR20P are all multi material with a more springy face. The 737P on the other hand were one piece cast carbon steel. It was surprisingly easy to hit and feels nice off the face. However, it is 21 deg loft. Mid size blade with very small offset. I would totally play a full set of these any day.
