they play stiff to flex at standard length. at 1" over you should be pretty good...

unless you play your irons 1/2" over standard length 38" 5iron, if you go c-tapers (or even steelfibers), i'd recommend going 1/2 flex softer than your typical choice...even if your fitter says otherwise based upon your ss.

the c-tapers aren't for most players...but if they're a match for your swing, they will be one of the best feeling shafts you'll find. i know i'm the small minority but i've found them to be far superior in feel than monacos, sp blues, and steelfibers.

i really want to see the new kyoei's. anyone got an idea when next year these will be released?

monacos will be the consensus around here but i say c-tapers. with the traditional lofts of the personals the low trajectory c-taper will suit well. and the c-tapers won't hide or accentuate any feedback...you'll just feel the purity of everything the head has to offer. they work in everything i've put them in so i'd bet the personals would be no different!

no way they will get even a toe into the door of the u.s. market without at least some up and coming pga golfer playing them (and winning) on tour and/or a barrage of infomercials and print ads talking about unbelievable distance increases. the vast majority of americans are bought and paid for customers and only follow the propaganda and hype...FACT!

did you guys miss the honma thread last week???

i was able to play a round with wayne (4dr.no) in hawaii over thanksgiving. other than that, i haven't seen any members from the arizona area. however, with the winter weather and fantastic supply of courses, i'm quite surprised more tsg'ers don't take golf vacations out here. if anyone ever does, let me know and i can play nearly anytime with enough warning!

i've seen plenty of shafts break during the years so this is definitely not something unique to crazy shafts. my shaft broke by freak accident and although the circumstances likely couldn't be duplicated in a thousand attempts, i do think any other brand shaft would have suffered the same consequences. the difference is that crazy stands behind their products with a warranty backed by an honor and integrity that is lacking in many companies today... in and out of the golf industry.

i like the blade. wasn't their big "thing" in the past about having a special casting process that felt better than forged?

really looking forward to this shoot out! in my shoot out the 435 kept up with a non conforming head no problem so it will be fun to see if this new kamui can too.

the only gripmasters that should touch any high end putter is the cabretta or kangaroo. i have them on several putters and had the standard cowhide on my yamada shogun. there's no comparison between cowhide and cabretta or kango! i have the steel blue cabretta on my zen and i couldn't think of a better match if you're truly into the feel/feedback a putter can offer.

i forwarded your weight question to him and since then he's been weighing pre and post paint and taping both weights on the finished head for the customer. so far everything comes in at under a gram increase in weight.

we're talking irons...do you really want to possibly give up "deadly accurate" for "more distance"?
