Fantastic session at 7D
Interesting about the 3W, m. I've been waiting on a review. Was thinking about one when I tried the TRPX Red Hot, and I've been so happy with it, I decided to just enjoy. Hits long high draws or screaming runners, depending on where I put the ball in my stance with the XV 3W. Definite draw bias, which I favor anyway. Here's a thought, Chris... Has 7D ever made a shaft for a driving iron...? < g >

Maybe there's something about blind drives and 7D's...

Fantastic session at 7D
Enjoy, Robbie, I look forward to hearing your reaction. As for my continuing 7D adventures, I have two things to report from this week: 311 and 342(!) with the 7D JBeam Blackout. [And I don't care that the latter was on a hole that is blind off the tee up over a hill, and then down the other side. These are numbers never even dreamed of by this golfer...! And the 311 was on a flat hole!]

club shuffling for next season. Hybrids to DIs
Best for a full and speedy recovery from me, too, nob. (A-Grind clubs are quiet sleepers across the board. Just had a personal best round on Fri with the CB's, the hybrid, and the wedges in my bag. Am even going to shaft up the driver one of these days...) --Richard

“Steel like graphite” or “ graphite like steel” irons shaft?
Mitsubishi's version of MCI-like composite. Ultra-smooth and long. Maybe a touch more weighty in feel. Also just a fabulous shaft.

“Steel like graphite” or “ graphite like steel” irons shaft?
I never got along with either Recoils or Steelfibres. For a feel player, the MCI's and OTi's run laps around them, IMO, in all weights.

“Steel like graphite” or “ graphite like steel” irons shaft?
With the new advances in shafts, this question becomes closer and closer to being unanswerable, IMO. I've played many of the composite shafts including my two favorites so far, the MCI's and the OTi's. I tend to favor lighter weights than most, so the composites are wonderful for me. But recently I hit the new NSPro Modus3 105 and found it surprising in both smoothness and length. Usually the vibration of steel on the one or two shots off hard pan in a round will put me off steel for weeks. But with the feel of the Modus3, I decided to do an experiment. I'm putting it in the softest feeling heads I've ever hit -- OnOff 247 Coppers. And I'm putting MCI 80's in a set of Personal 2's I just picked up. Will report back, most likely several weeks from now.

RARE SCOTTY CAMERON STUDIO DESIGN NO.5 - 1st Run of 500
FOR SALE Rare Scotty Cameron Studio Design No.5 / 1st Run of 500 with original Cameron Studio rainbow finish, tags, grip, & head cover, 35" in length $850 PayPal / US This collector's item has been on a display rack since I bought it. It has never been outdoors. Scotty no longer makes the rainbow finish which changes hue and color from different angles and in different light. All the original markings, including "1st Run of 500" in red on the face. From above, the alignment is a beautiful large white T on the rainbow black background. Feel and milling is as good as it gets. Price is firm, as I don't even really want to part with it... For the discriminating collector of fine putters, this baby deserves a home where it will be appreciated.

DRIVING IRONS --- Honma, Yonex, Miura [ALL SOLD]
I grabbed that Miura years ago when I was talking to them up in Vancouver and they mentioned it was not going to be made anymore. I got two, played the 2-iron and have been using the 3 as a paper weight on my desk at times. I picked up a set of P2's recently and was inspired by some of the house cleaning I've seen you doing in advance of your car joy. I mean, you an only purr over stuff in the office corner bag for so many years, right...? <g>

SOLD / Miura vintage set of CB-301's with Miura stand bag / SOLD
Didn't think I'd ever sell these, but here they are, a great used set of Miura CB-301 irons along with a 1957 Miura stand bag. These cavity backs are as soft and blade like as any CB I've ever hit. The set is built light with Fuji MCI 60-R shafts, are standard length and 1-degree flat, Tour Velvet grips. Set is 4-9 irons, and I'll even throw in a 1957 Miura Y-grind 47-deg as pitching wedge. They were used by a developing junior player and have the expected bag chatter, but no significant dings, and the grooves are still in good shape. Satin finish is still stunning. The yellow and black Miura 1957 stand bag has been in storage only and looks brand new, hood cover included. These are vintage clubs but still play wonderfully and don't often come to market any more. SOLD. US and PayPal only. Please PM any questions. RLL33

Fantastic session at 7D
Aston -- I play it at 45 1/4". The recent posts from nob and chiro were the first I'm aware of that went that long and heavy. (It was very interesting to me that both of them were fitted that way in person. Made me wonder if optimal numbers would change for me with an in-person fitting. But I also know that I lean toward lighter shafts anyway, and I believe both of them leaned toward heavier even before their fittings.)

Fantastic session at 7D
Yup, after a full summer of playing the 7D's, I remain utterly impressed. And as I've said before, the most amazing thing for me is not just the distance, but the consistency no matter the condition of my swing. The shaft still seems to adapt to whatever I'm doing, as if it can isolate my strengths and pull them out of not only my best swing, but one that is not my best. I've also had the opportunity to do a test over time that I thought I'd mention. Since I have two identical T.388 heads and one is shafted with the 7D and the other with a TRPX Messenger 1st, I've taken both out on the course several times and recorded drive distance off the same tee on multiple holes. (I wouldn't mind doing this on a machine, but I prefer seeing what happens outside on my home course.) Average distance with the TRPX came out to 254. Average with the 7D is 268. I also made marks for fairways hit: 53% for the TRPX, and (for me) an astounding 66% with the 7D. This latter stat for me is what has really brought a different joy to my game. Yeah, I like hitting the ball further, but seeing it hit the fairway more is what really makes me feel like I'm playing better. All this said, the JBeam Blackout with the 7D in it is my hands down winner. I'm averaging 271 in distance with near same consistency of fairways hit at 62%. These 7D guys are good!
