  1. Not related to Gold's milling, but in general I've found horizontal milling to feel a bit softer and get the ball rolling a bit sooner while the milling pattern in the putter above is a bit better at eliminating sidespin and feels a bit more solid/gives a bit more feedback, both have benefits, some prefer horizontal milling, some prefer this milling pattern, its personal preference really, others things also contribute as well so its really just a personal generalization.
  2. They do make 17* hybrids mate, those are around, the TRC from 2011 came in 17* and its a fantastic club, great trajectory, feels fantastic, and its as easy to move around as an iron... 16* might not be as findable, really, 1* though isn't going to give you much more distance or alter ball flight much, I mean what are iron yardage gaps with 4* intervals? not a ton of yards, divide that by 4 and your looking at very small numbers, irons also get longer as the loft gets lower which accounts for at least a small amount of distance, thinking along those lines, I just cant see the 1* making much difference at all, not to say I haven't done it though, I've had driving irons bent a degree stronger and irons bent a degree stronger or weaker, just doing the math in my head now though, cant see much difference being made.
  3. No your spot on, the above poster was thinking Euros I think.
  4. I think the paintjob looks amazing and extremely well done, but I get the feeling it would distract the hell outta me looking down at it.
  5. Crazy utility is a super stable ute shaft, personally, I've found it to be the best of the best as far as utility shafts.
  6. That's REALLY pretty, love the color/finish scheme, looks amazing.
  7. I had VERY similar setups out on the course today to test, 435 was setup exactly the same, specs might have been different, Crazy 435, Waccine GR88 TSX 44.75 inches, D3..... This MIGHT be my new favorite driver EVER, I've hit the 435 ALOT and with ALOT of different shafts, nothing comes close to this one.... nothing.... Its all sorts of a match made in heaven, the shaft definitely isn't for the faint of heart and it definitely does require a lot of power through the ball, for the way I swing as far as tempo, transition, etc. I would say the shaft wants 109 MPH or more, upwards of 110 and its straight as a board, lovely, lively, and LONG.... If I really go after it I can get a little baby draw, didn't see any sort of a pronounced draw or a hook at all, mostly a straight ball or a little fade which I really liked, not only was I quite possibly consistently longer than I've ever been, but the thing is remarkably fun to hit, usually when I find a shaft in the 435 I have enjoyed, it hasn't felt wonderful, but this combo felt excellent. Also had out a 425 Tour with a Stinger 70 Stiff playing to 44.40 inches, I had told myself I wasn't going to mess with the 425 setups I had, but I just felt a compulsion to try out a Stinger in one of my heads figuring I could put the previous shaft back in if it wasn't absurdly good.... it wasn't absurdly good.... it was ridiculously magical.... Wasn't quite as long as the 435/Waccine, but it was more accurate, and not as demanding, I've always loved the 425 tour head, its without a doubt my favorite driver head not considering setups and shafts, but just the head alone, this is my favorite by far. I would say I was about 6-9 yards behind the 435 in general, which isn't bad at all considering how crazy long that setup was for me, I found the Stinger gave me an absolutely ideal trajectory in this head, totally a mid ball flight, not high or low at all, just perfect, VERY strong and more roll then I've had with the Stinger in other drivers previously, no problems getting the ball to move around a bit, can go left or right just fine which is where I think the Stinger really shines in general, its SUPER versatile, yet also very difficult to over power, I guess ill echo what Stew said above, its just SUCH an excellent shaft, don't really know what could be better, on top of that, its a MONSTER in FW's as well.... To score, I would take this over the 435/Waccine setup, but I think I enjoy the 435/Waccine more just based on pure enjoyment. Last driver of the day was a Kamui KPX with a Waccine GR77 SX playing 44.65, I just recently played the Kamui head for the first time during a little trip, with a different shaft, and really liked it, its a head you can really just smash the heck out of and it just begs for more juice, feel isn't lovely, but the performance cannot be argued with.... The GR77 shaft is much more friendly than the 88 and still in a weight class that's been working for me lately, feels wonderful and gives you a lot more room for error and to relax than the 88, Distance was very similar to the 425/Stinger but the flight was a bit different, slightly more carry with this combo, could move the ball very slightly, but not much, I would say that has more to do with the head than the shaft, this head likes to fly dead straight and any movement whatsoever was without a doubt from the shaft being a bit less taught, nothing loose about it at all though, ballflight held up wonderfully, cant really say a bad thing about it, luckily today was one of those days where I couldn't say anything stood out as being better, just all different degrees of lovely in different ways.... Couldn't be happier, big thumbs up on the Waccine shafts, if anyone is thinking of trying them, I would definitely say go for it as they are excellent.
  8. My builder came into a bunch of Diamana B shafts a little while ago and I grabbed one of each from 60 stiff through 80 stiff(60s, 60x, 70s, 70x, 80s), had some miserable luck and the 80 stiff broke yester day, I don't need the 60 Stiff model so I'm looking to trade it for an 80 Stiff, would consider a 70 S or X as well, but 80 S would be my first choice, shaft is brand new and uncut, willing to trade it for something used as long as the shaft measures 43.25 inches or longer. Let me know if anyone is interested.
  9. That's just downright shameful for someone who builds clubs to make a statement like that, these are guys who should be helping you find what works for you personally, not what works for various tour players, and I've seen some ridiculously unconventional builds/specs from guys on tour that bucks any sort of conventional ideas, its all about personal preference. Main reason for playing 60g range shafts for such a long time was that I noticed a lot of tour players using that weight range and didn't figure I could need heavier.
  10. When I ordered the Buchi blades I was in between the Buchi's and the Yururi's for a new blade setup, I figure ill still wind up trying the PDG sometime down the road, I love the Flatback's, there probably my favorite blades so if these are anything like them they'll be fantastic, NS shafts did seem to work better with the Flatback's than any others, DP proto or Modus 120 are my two favorites(DP is the proto of the 120 so they have a bit in common).
  11. For the LONGEST time I had almost religiously tried to play drivers as light as possible, shaft weights, head weights, and swing weight, so for me that wound up being 60 gram shafts, and D1 SW's, lately I've been going heavier and heavier and my consistency has been getting downright mechanical, mid 70-mid 80 gram driver shafts with heavier head weights and SW's, I haven't found any noticeable distance loss because the heavier setups seem to keep my tempo in check, my swing just feels more "grooved", and I feel more comfortable going after the ball, if there is any distance loss at all, it palls in comparison to more accurate tee shots and more fairways hit witch winds up equaling more total yardage off the tee throughout a round....
  12. Am I misreading or are you saying that the S(shallow) model is a better choice for better ballstrikers than the D(deep)? Its normally the other way around, with deeper faced drivers catering to more consistent players and shallower drivers being geared more towards forgiveness. I haven't hit either yet, but I have been thinking in terms of the D leaning towards the 425 tour and the S more towards the 435, am I on the right track with that thinking? Is it going to be worth it to buy these if you already own the 435 and 425? Ive got 2 425's and now 2 435's as well, what I really want to know is are the TRPX drivers different enough from the Crazy/J Beam drivers to justify buying them, not really asking are they "better", I just don't wanna grab one, hit it, and wind up thinking "oh, well.... now I essentially have 3 435's(or 425's)", I love the 435 and 425, I just don't need another driver that's going to be basically the same thing, if the differences are there, even if they're fairly subtle in multiple areas(slightly different flight and feel, etc.) then these will be worth a go, just want to know beforehand.
  13. Totally unrelated here, but what are the "Seven Prototype" wedges and putters you have in your bag now T? Never heard of them before.
  14. There is just no way to keep a wedge with a dark finish looking that way throughout its lifetime, your just going to have to accept that its going to wear, can get obnoxious with certain clubs that you would rather keep looking as good as new, but its just not possible, after you learn to accept it, it doesn't really bother you after a while, and you can come to appreciate a slightly rusted or worn looking head as being unique.
  15. Craig brought a Zen with him from OZ to have GF modify when he visited Japan, highly doubt theres anything he can't or won't work on.
  16. Never even thought trying it, I've put driver shafts into FW's, I've thought about trying both FW and driver shafts in utilities, but never even popped into my head to try a FW shaft into a driver, the SF's are good FW shafts though. What are you looking to get out of the install? or is it just an experiment that popped into your head and you just wanna see how it turns out?
  17. You've had or have the Crazy 435 right? Might wanna give the j beam 425 Tour a shot if you haven't yet, just remembered the last few days exactly why its my favorite driver, would be right up your alley I would think, and when you order from them you get EXACTLY what you request. This year's Yamaha Tour model in 9* might suit as well, that has quite a low launch and it goes a long way. Kamui KPX wont go left AT ALL, and you can really go after it, comes in an 8.5*. Know these aren't adjustable, just trying to think of things that might suit. For someone that gets the club moving as quickly as you do, my advice would be buy a driver that's designed to handle swings like yours, that's designed to hold up to high SS's and not hook rather than relying on face angle, my thought process here is that the drivers you've hit recently probably would have hooked on you even if they setup dead square, just wouldn't have been as pronounced as it was with a closed face. You seem to wanna give the Tourstage a go though, if that's what you want to try, buy it, if you want an adjustable driver, grab one, because the best suggestion I can make is to get what you personally like and what you think would work well for you, in the end we all wind up having unique experiences with gear.
  18. Why would anyone wanna break up such a beautiful set?? Well, to each there own, if someone just wants the heads, ill take the protos mate.
  19. Question: Why only adjustable drivers? Also, something that might only come as low as 9* can launch and fly lower than an 8.5* if its a head designed to fly lower, or you pair it with a lower, tighter shaft.
  20. Wow, that's strange..... Don't really know how to respond since I've never really heard anyone have issues with the forgiveness of any Ryoma, guess that just shows how different every one feels about clubs. Shaft wise, unless what your currently playing is far too stiff, far too soft, or just TOTALLY the wrong shaft profile for you then I really couldn't see changing the shaft affecting distance on miss hits all that much, if even when you were putting a good swing on the ball it flew poorly, then I would think the shaft is the issue and changing it could make all the difference, but if you're enjoying the driver and losing a lot on off center hits then idk how changing the shaft could help all that much, the Crazy LY shafts are considered pretty forgiving shafts as well.
  21. Your in Vegas though right? Lots of interesting places to drive a bit faster than would normally be prudent, turbo would be fun there.... No preference as to Ferrari red vs. Guards red, I like both, think they both look good, Ill only buy black or red autos, just the only colors that I really enjoy, though my first 911 was white with a brick red interior, some loved it, others hated it, I thought it looked awesome.
  22. I like the look of these a lot, and knowing exactly which irons your talking about preferring to look down at, I would say its my only detractor from buying these, after looking down at perfection, its tough to move to anything else... but.... Im bored and need something to shake things up, just got back from a wonderful little golf foray and I think I've got about as good of a handle as I'm ever going to get on just about all the gear I have currently.
  23. I wouldn't personally put a Diamana X in that head, would launch a bit lower than I would want from a FW, but if your looking for a really low, tight combo then it will be a winner.
  24. Seems downright foolish if they've moved forging PURELY to cut costs, lord knows they sold enough of the original Vokey Forged model at a fairly high price point.
  25. I've hit a few Fourteen drivers in the past with a slew of different shafts and not a one has ever done anything particularly special for me.... None of them were poor in any way, they just didn't quite standout much at all, guy that builds my clubs sells a ton of Fourteen gear and is always trying to get me to demo there new stuff, haven't hit this one though, maybe ill give it a go if he's got a head in stock next time I'm over there, couldn't imagine a more positive review then what was posted above.
